  1. I couldn't find a picture of the hat that you described, but here are some hats that may be good substitutes.
  2. Oh, this is very sad news. Robert Osborne was such a wonderful TCM host - truly the epitome of class. His vast knowledge of films never ceased to amaze me. Rest in peace, Robert. DownGoesFrazier and TomJH, I agree that TCM should show some of Robert's favorite films. I found an article that Robert wrote where he discussed several of his favorites. Click on the link below. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/04/12/robert-osborne-s-secret-favorite-movies.html Edit - Here's a list of the films that Robert mentioned in the article: The Big Clock, Dodsworth
  3. Actually, they put you in a dungeon beneath Bloomingdale's. They make you wear platinum handcuffs and they give you your choice of striped prison outfits.
  4. In case you missed it, LawrenceA identified the actress for you. It's Jennifer Connelly. (Thanks, LawrenceA!) Misswonderly3, I totally agree with your comments about fair-skinned actresses wearing white or flesh-colored outfits. I wish that you could send that message to every fair-skinned woman in Hollywood (well, not just Hollywood......the WORLD). That was one of the main things that bothered me about this year's Oscar fashions. Emma Stone's dress is an excellent example. The dress is very pretty (although I'm not 100% sold on the fringed bottom), but like you said, it doesn't loo
  5. Yes, the hats in that picture do look silly. I've never liked those pointed/cone-shaped hats, either. I remember seeing a few of those hats in the THE WOMEN. Florence Nash Norma Shearer and Ruth Hussey Norma Shearer Hedda Hopper (The cone shape on the hat isn't as pronounced as the others, but I just had to include the Queen of Crazy Hats.) I did a little research on these hats and I found out that they seem to have been popularized by a designer named Elsa Schiaparelli. If you'd like to read more about this designer an
  6. Now that I know how to post videos, I want to share this clip. It's the song "Style" from the recently-shown film ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS. I think that it's perfect for this thread!
  7. All right, now that the Oscars are over and done with, it's time to get back to films. Mary Duncan is in this photo from MORNING GLORY, but all I see is her poofy dress. I think that Mary might be able to fly with all those feathers.
  8. Sorry for taking a while to respond, Sepiatone. These last few days have been unexpectedly busy. Anyway, is this the Nicki Minaj dress that you were talking about? It's the only long, mostly-green dress that I could find.
  9. Yes, I know! Like I said, I disagree with the Fashion Police quite often. They'll probably come and arrest me one of these days. I agree that Charlize Theron is a gorgeous woman. Wouldn't it be something if she made burlap fashionable?
  10. Oh, Nicki Minaj....what a character she is! Is this the dress that you were referring to? It's funny that you should bring up the Fashion Police. I can't tell you how many times I've disagreed with their choices. That reminds me....I haven't discussed this year's Oscar fashions. I would love to discuss the dresses that I did like, but this isn't the thread for that. Here are my top 3 LEAST favorite 2017 Oscar dresses. Although I don't care for these dresses, I have to admit that they're not nearly as bad as some of the ones that I've seen in previous years. Raph
  11. I'm glad that you enjoyed the photos, kingrat. I'm curious to know which Audrey Hepburn dress you were referring to. She has worn several dresses that exposed her collarbone. Did she wear that dress in a movie? Do you remember what color it was? Did the dress have sleeves or was it strapless?
  12. That outfit was a memorable one! Cher is one of the few people who could pull that off. As LawrenceA noted, I posted that picture already, but I'll post it again.
  13. More unfortunate Oscar fashion choices from days gone by: Geena Davis Zoe Saldana (This was especially disappointing because she usually wears lovely dresses.) Vera Farmiga Uma Thurman Tilda Swinton Barbra Streisand
  14. Speedracer5 - I agree that some of the dresses in MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS were nice. I liked the dresses that the girls wore to the Christmas dance, especially Judy's. I'll even admit that Lucille Bremer's tan outfit wasn't that bad. The style is pretty, but I don't really like the color. I'm not fond of clothes that are beige, taupe, light tan and other similar colors (unless they are sparkly). I would wear beige pants, but I wouldn't wear that color in anything else. It's just a little quirk of mine. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on Judy's blue-and-white striped dress and I
