A number of years ago I saw a black & white movie where a woman who works in a bookstore meets a man who is married and is an up-and-coming politician. The woman finds out about the man's family while watching a newsreel. If I remember, they have a common bond as history buffs, possibly Civil War history. They carry on a long-term affair, eventually setting up housekeeping in a cottage on a rocky coast.
