  1. Classicsfan if you haven't seen 'Lost in Translation' you may want to . It leaves some dialogue out that makes you wonder and use your imagination about what happens after the movie is over. Seems like people either loved it or hated the movie. I loved it, especially because not everything was explained and it didn't end on a neat and tidy note. Karen
  2. I remember Hitchcock talking about the McGuffin...it's the underlining plot point that makes the movie happen. Nobody really cares what it is as long as the action is interesting. I think in this scene Hitchcock knew that no one really cared what all the intrigue was about...they just wanted Grant to save Eva Marie Saint. Get on with it!!! Get to Mount Rushmore, ya know? Of course Hitchcock probably never thought he'd have such avid and persistant fans as this lot! Karen
  3. Even in huge cities like NYC or San Francisco or Paris...there is always PARKING right in front of where they need to be. If your a older cop getting ready to retire...you're gonna die before the end of the movie. When something explodes, the lead actor walks away without ever looking at the massive explosion just a few feet behind him. Wouldn't be cool. If a boy has a dog he loves...it's a goner too.
  4. Recently I bought the double feature DVD of 'Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde'. It has the 1932 (I think) version with Fredric March at his creepiest and the later Spencer Tracy version. Very interesting to compare the pre-code to the milder Tracy version. And the March version has scenes that have been deleted in most copies. Karen
