  1. Thank you, my friend. However, there is nothing you have said that hurt me. I am fairly teflon, but get very, very, VERY upset when narrow-minded didactic censors hurt people to the point where they either leave this board or are actually affected by what these little wankers say.
  2. Noooooo..............that was a Prada? Holy cow.
  3. And as someone who won't go to a movie, the AA were of more interest to me for the gowns. Thanks for the Blackwell list, otterhere. While those examples were amazingly awful, I would think a stah has more advice on the occasion of the AA. Therefore, Madame Streep's schmata and K-Mart jewelry was jaw-droppingly awful. Thankfully, there were many, many, many shots of Cate Blanchett's gun-metal grey dress by the ditzoids at E! Online. Can someone post a picture of her and it here? It was 1930s drop dead gorgeous. The line, the detail at the hem. *sigh*
  4. All true. I did my research and found out that while satellite appears good at the outset, they too can raise prices, drop TCM, AND force me to balance on the roof emptying snow from the dish. The last is an exaggeration, but I have been told by many with satellite that it is subject to the weather. And, since my patience level is that of a really **** off pit bull, I decided that satellite is not for me. So, I will wait, happy and content in my fury at Cablevision and glad at the opportuinity given here to kvetch about it.
  5. So now we have de-regulation....AND a monopoly-dominated market. The worst possible scenario. Good point. We have gotten what we thought we wanted per the political babble wherein we wait for a politician to tell us what we want. IOW, we got screwed.
  6. Wow, I remember it just vaguely. But still and all, I bet it wasn't as bad as Meryl Streep's schmata house dress with the flea market costume jewelry. And, um, um, she was coming off a movie where she played a fashion house maven! Sheesh.
  7. Thank you klondike! I ken, I ken. And such a hearty laugh you gave me, good sir. Thank you.
  8. THE James Cromwell? How interesting. I had such a crush on that guy when he was on SFU. Neverrrrr knew his father directed pre-codes. Thanks MissGoddess for the enlightening information. Fascinating. As to my favorite way to watch, what I taped that is, I never get to sit down long enough to watch a movie all the way through. I wasn't able to when I had TCM and am still not able. This is solely due to working too many hours and being too old to be able to stay awake. So my solution is to watch the movies I've taped while I am taking a break from work and walking on my treadmill. Accomplishing two things at once that way. Lately, though, I'm backed up with SFU tapes since they've started them on BRAVO. One of the best show in television history (along with Homicide) and the only show I watch consistently on television right now. As to my tapes, and how brilliant of me to foresee the day when my TCM was ripped from me by the crooks at Cablevision (after being burned by AMC), I have enough movies taped to walk from here to CA and back.
  9. Holey moley Dewey1960! Almost 200 posts and nary an intelligent word in any of them. Ah well, it could be worse. We could be related to the little **** behind the keyboard. :0
  10. Oh by the way, I talked to someone in the know this weekend, and they confirmed that it was Cablevision that yanked TCM from my programming lineup in a deliberate attempt to get me to pay them more for digital cable. So the counter guy and the telephone personnel at Cablevision lied to me. My, my, what IS this world coming to, when one can't trust a corporation? Oh the humanity. So I hereby offer my sincere apologies to TCM for thinking they were behind the kidnapping and ransom (if Cinemascope is able to comprehend this sentence perhaps he too can offer up the apologies to all the people he has insulted). Oh, and apparently the older citizens who decided to fork over the extra money to the crooks at Cablevision are not having an easy time of it utilizing the digital cable. Too bad they didn't come here and read my stellar words on boycotting the corporate crooks of America. It also seems the Verizon has come out with something called FIOS and if they can get past the local stranglehold monopoly that Cablevision has on the local government in Westchester, they too might get into digital television. Cable deregulation, remember that myth? Someday, perhaps Cablevision may have competition. I'll be dancing on my laptop when that day comes. Oh and finally, I was banned from another website this weekend. It seems that in addition to the jackbooted Nazis at Television Without Pity, that there are equal pinheaded little wankers at CNET who delete arbitrarily and without reason at chow.com. It seems that my post on a certain crappy restaurant in Westchester, Gina Marie in Eastchester to be specific, were not to the hovering censors at chow.com, Tristate board, and they not only deleted my posts a second and a half after they were posted (talk about not having a life), but finally banned my membership. They at no time sent me a warning, just deleted my posts and banned me. Only after my repeated complaints did they finally send me an email telling me that I could be reinstated if I behave. Yeah, right, like THAT might happen! Amazing, isn't it, how there are still Nazi censors in 21st century America. So, even with the oily discharge that is Cinemascope, we should be very, very, very grateful to the moderators behind this TCM message board. Mea Culpa, those in charge, for my fevered jump to conclusions in the midst of the TCM kidnapping and ransom. I am sorry for you all, that you are powerless in the face of crooked corporate behemoths like Cablevision.
  11. Let's see. On the topic, they're not worth the keystrokes used to note them. Some critics are good, because they agree with me (Cranky Critic is a good example), some critics are right wing religious crazed and dangerous fanatics like Michael Medved. Others just vomit up their opinions and think because someone gave them a chair on a television show or a byline in a newspaper that their opinion therefore has merit. Kind of like the wallabee in office, he doesn't even know how to string two sentences together, yet people voted him into office. Twice. Oh. On topic. I don't think they're worth jack. My opinion is worth as much, if not more, than most critics. They just managed to figure out how to do the least amount of work for a nice hunk of money AND get into the movie theaters for free. So I have to hand them that. But being clever doesn't mean I should listen to them. Oh no. As to this thread and the board in general, I have been away for a few days. I came back to find a hovering cloud over my laptop, and it turned out to be the gasbag that is Cinemascope. Still insulting people, still not answering questions, still vomiting up her opinions as if she were intelligent, still expecting posters here to bow down before her idiot posts. How funny. And still no apology to the many she has now insulted in addition to mrsl, Mr Dash, Hollis, klondike, and now Dewey. Quite a sad little individual really. As brad noted, she has after all turned out to be the troll of this board. Following every single last thread, in an effort to fill up her empty life apparently, and posting what she actually thinks are clever posts when in fact they're just her opinion. She seemingly is still in grade school and hasn't learned that other people have opinions too and therefore their posts carry as much weight as hers. She has learned one thing in the 8th grade, how to cut and paste the opinion of other nincompoops. Too bad her parents haven't taught her manners yet. Ah well, no matter. My recommendation would be to post 'around' her, as she is not only unintelligent but seems to revel in the attention. If we can't ignore her as we do other trolls here, at the very least we should talk to each other 'about' her. That would annoy her very much, since she is a pathetic little egoist who is none too smart and none too capable of answering questions. Or of apologizing. Let's see, she'll probably be REAL clever and come back with a 'hypocrite' post to this. Ah well, at least she keeps the board hopping. Too bad for those who don't want to see her infantile words anymore though. To all those who decide to engage in conversation with her (if she is a her, and not some teenaged male **** alone in his room): do NOT take anything she says to heart nor think she has a brain. Trust me, she doesn't.
  12. There you have it, folks. Cinemascope the troll hasn't addressed one question I've asked of it, instead only repeated the same mantra over and over. Oh, and before you point out that I have done the same, genius, mine was deliberate. Yours is just cowardly. You have addressed nothing I've asked of you and still owe everyone on this board whom you've insulted an apology. So, since you are SO obviously the little boy now missing who hides in his room, thinks he is clever, and then cowers behind mommy's skirts when he is called on his vile style of posting, I will leave you to your filth. Those on the board can handle you just fine. I'm quite pleased that I have shown you for the troll that you are, with no decency, honor or manners. Seriously, little man, you really need to try better when using your next id in an onslaught of insulting posts on this board. Oh, and so sorry you are so unintelligent.
  13. Still waiting for you to beg forgiveness of mrsl, klondike, Hollis, johnm and Mr Dash. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock.
  14. Still waiting for you to beg forgiveness of mrsl, klondike, johnm, Hollis and Mr Dash. Tick, tock, tick, tock.
  15. You mean like you, troll? You mean like you did, berating those who didn't share your opinion of movies and then calling them 'idiot' and 'lowbrow'? But keep posting inane moronic comebacks without grovelling for forgiveness from those you've insulted, as you should be doing. What a troll.
  16. There's that smiley face, Dewey1960. She thinks she's soooooooooooooo clever. What a troll.
  17. Oh you mean you're ready to humbly beg mrsl and Hollis and john and klondike's forgiveness for your pompous arrogant put downs of them? You're ready to grovel? Sorry, toots, I don't 'flame', I pick up on a thread when someone has become so obnoxious that the person they are attacking needs support, in my opinion. Show me, genius, where I have called someone an 'idiot' or a 'lowbrow' because they didn't like a movie I thought was the best thing since toilet paper. No, of course you can't. You're just being a troll true to form in now feigning innocence. You and all the other trolls in your dorm room are despicable. You're the one who began this with your insufferable attempt to deride someone else's opinion. Now you think everyone has a short memory and pull out your 'woe is me' tactic. Done before, troll. But keep it up. The eyeballs, you know.
  18. Thanks, Dewey1960. Of course, she is continuing the style of other trolls here. In fact, she may very well BE this curiously absent troll. He of the 'you're an idiot!'.........'who me? I never said any such thing'..........'waaaaah, help me, someone, da bad stoney is picking on widdle me, waaaah'. Yup, exact same style. Only, let's see, in her/his case, it's 'you're an idiot' 'you're a lowbrow' 'I'm trying to make sure the boards are free of anyone who doesn't agree with my brilliance' 'how can you NOT like this movie, what are you an idiot?'....'pompous ****? who me? I'm just a brilliant super hero'.........'waaaaaaaah, you're mean, you're just mean, and you're calling me names and picking on widdle me..........waaaah'. Despicable.
  19. So what are you? How about sharing for the real people here? Keep it up. Keep trying to twist it around to make it seem as if I'm the hypocrite. Sorry, you don't pack the goods. I'm not calling for people to be polite to each other -- not doing well in English comprehension class are we? -- I am calling for you to cease deriding people by calling them 'idiots' and 'lowbrow'. You began this unpleasantness, you little troll. An 'example'? You mean setting an example like you've done since you decided to flood these boards with your pomposity? School out for the month, is that what it is, little girlie? You're funny. You actually think you're clever, but you're not. Keep it up, though, it's good for the eyeballs.
  20. Thanks klondike! Oh I've Kippled and I've Yeat's and I've Wordsworth'ed, but in the scheme of my life, I prefer Abbott and Costello (I think it was). At any rate, there was some television schtick, courtesy of 1930s vaudeville, that offered up: never the twain shall meet what twain? why, the choo choo twain
  21. I try to silence no one. In fact, I didn't even take part in your character assassinations until your pomposity got too much for me to bear. I always figure that those here can handle obnoxious blowhards like yourself well enough without my two cents. However, when there appear relative newcomers to the board, such as the gentlemanly Hollis and Mr Dash, whose gender is not known to me, and you begin your vomitous 'you're an idiot' 'you're a lowbrow' style of condescending arrogant posts, I just can't keep quiet any longer. No, don't think you are clever enough to turn around and call me a hypocrite, because you're not. You're not clever at all, you're just an obnoxious dictator who thinks she knows a bit about movies and wants to silence those whom she considers of a lower class structure than herself. However, as so many of your ilk have shown before you, you are no better than pond scum and it is due to the lovely unmoderated nature of this board, which you seek to limit, that allows for your filthy posts. And you dare to talk of 'honesty'. You lie and accuse me of being a hypocrite. You are truly filth. Too bad it is posts like these that tend to make decent people like Mr Dash and Hollis leave.
  22. Bull. Your disgusting pompous posts on 'over-rated movies' on the 'hot topic' thread continue to point out that your ego is only outdone by your intention to infiltrate every thread in an effort to insult good people. You are truly despicable.
  23. Excellently voiced, pktrekgirl. Mr Dash, please don't go away because of the attempts to silence you. Hollis, I hope you too haven't left. As you have observed, there will always be two factions here and never the train shall meet. Stick around, Mr Dash and Hollis, it really is a good place.
  24. That is fascinating, Fedya. How funny, I never ever questioned why there were venetian blinds on a taxicab, since I don't think another taxicab in all of taxicab-dom has venetian blinds on it, but I loved the intimacy it gave the scene. Plus, I also love old fashioned venetian blinds.
