  1. Happy Birthday! Ricardo Montalban I hope it was a good one for you. I so admire Ricardo's work and enjoy his presence on the silver screen and TV. Imagine my surprise to learn that this man has such a wealth of films after knowing him only for The Fantasy Island series what a pleasant discovery. And I have to say Ricardo seems overlooked for the strides he made in Hollywood for ethnic actors to me he is right up there with Sidney Poitier and Desi Arnaz. Keep up the good work Mongo. BTW I'm turning the big 37 next Sunday December 3rd-3 years from 40..............................................................
  2. well I messed it up I think- Jack Lemmon was the connection. I hate to admit it this game has me in circles. Am I doing it correctly?

  4. MissGoddess I hate youLOL and do you have to rub it in that you can trot down to the theater to see the Seachers oh lucky you...hope you enjoy the show....... I wish when I came upon something I was looking for that the Seachers music when that pivotal moment happens would just play...hey they are my keys cue the music.....boy what a good movie makes me want to see it again.
  5. I thought Holden was sooooo sexy in this film his narrating gave me thrills...He owned this role. Now I've done my Holden watching from older to younger. I saw him in The Towering Inferno and then in Network and he was sexy then, then of course Stalag 17 and then I finally watched Sunset Boulevard-DAMN he was ozzing raw sex appeal and humanity...interesting about the morgue scenes WOW just when you think you've seen the whole movie.......
  6. Well I was at work and on the CBS morning news said the other half of the duo from Singin In the Rain has died and it showed Gene Kelly dancing and I thought OMG Debbie Reynolds has died. Then they named off Betty Comden who I have never heard of but boy do I love her music. So in a way I guess I did know her Just in Time is one of my favs I so enjoy hearing Judy Garland singing this little gem. RIP Betty Comden. Boy they sure don't write songs like they use to do they?
  7. oh I was under the impression it was recently when someone posted what about Louise Beavers.....a few posts back...
  8. I love it when the fear of POX is put on the people who thought they were being so accomodating. Talk about being scooted out in a hurry!
  9. When did Louise Beavers die? I also saw Elizabeth Allen in DiamondHead she did play a royal you know what in that movie

  12. My son and I were watching Yours, Mine and Ours and he asked me what's that game and I didn't know but I told him I bet the people at TCM would know. Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball are shown playing a game rolling a ball it seems down a cement or dirt track toward other balls and some of these are of different sizes. It was during one of their dates in the San Francisco area. What is this game and what is the purpose. I'm guessing it is a regional activity?
  13. Let's see I wonder when a movie is on TV and the real bad word that was there is replaced with another less offensive word-and sometimes it is a silly replacement...anyway....my questions are ...1.who picks the new word? 2. do they try to get the star to do the acceptable word? or do they actually try to find a close voice resemblance? 3. is it in the director's hands to make his movie acceptable to broadcast TV? 4. and if the director doesn't have a hand in the different dialogue is this a technical re-direct and has a director ever protested the change in dialogue when his movie is on broadcast TV? 5. and who decides what to edit out when a Movie is edited for TV and what exactly are the formating to fit on my TV screen???
  14. Oh I have got to see the whole movie I didn't think I'd like it. A musical about the american Revolution HA! I loved it!!! I cried at the end. I thought I can't watch this but Daniels called me back and the fact that I love the Amercan Revolution hustory just love it didn't hurt either. Hurrah for you filmlover. Hurrah for you!!! Where was Blythe Danner was she Abragail or Jeffersons wife??? Funny thing is DEja VU I have heard that violin song before somewhere. When will it be back on TCM anyone know? Did I tell I LOVE that MOVIE!
  15. I want to ask a question and I'm not sure it is appropriate however it may not be a big deal. Once when I was watching Rhoda(a TV ? again) she said "Now a certain muscle can relax" I hope like hell that I am not asking a stupid question. She said this to her husband after they were married she was describing how she felt since they got married. If I have offended anyone I apologize. I am asking because I'm assuming that it isn't sexual in nature since Rhoda was on in the 70s or pehaps it is and I apologize for being a nimcompoop. Also I've got to post I am going to have to start writing down my ?s by the time my time comes for the computer I forget them. Thanks Mongo and I apologize if I missed the obvious...gwtwbooklover

  19. Who gave John Wayne the nickname Duke? When did they start callin him Duke and why that nickname? Also just so you'll know when I read Kirk Douglas' autobiography he said though he was encouraged to he couldn't bring himself to calll Wayne Duke-he didn't go much for nicknames he said. When I saw Wayne on I Love Lucy as a child I got tickled when Desi Arnaz said Duke because it sounded funny. I loved it when Ricky went to Hollywood. I have visions of Rock Hudson in his swimming trunks as I post....
  20. lzcutter I ddin't know Elvis Presley was to play the Ricky Nelson Part WOW! You learn something new everyday.
  21. Just to add my 2 cents in the movie about George Gershin they mention the musical talents of the Marx Brothers-now that I mention it I think they didn't call them by the Marx Brothers name but their real last names. Anyway one of the boys Ira or George tried and I believe made it into the Marx Brothers band so before the boys went to the silver screen, in NY, they were known for their musical talents. Anyone know if Groucho played an instrument or was he always a funny man?
  22. Sheldon well how in the blue blazes was Brenadette Peters? I have another ? I read in Get Happy that Judy recorded all the soundtrack songs that I would like to hear...have you heard them.. hjave they ever been made available to the public?
  23. I wonder how was the performances of Reba McEntire or Susan Lucci did any of you New Yorkers happen to catch these shows or anyone else's Annie?
  24. Burton would be the Roman orator but the woman role eludes me unless this is the woman french resistance fighter from The Longest Day oh..... oh Mitchum is the creative doctor... I give up...atleast you can't shoot me for the wrong guesses or the babbling.....
  25. Of course 82nd Airborne was I believe Wayne's outfit or was he the 101? I think he was the 82nd. Purely I am just guessing Burton though fits the wait got a look dern
