  2. TooMany Notes and Fred you are FUNNY! I gor a great laugh from you about the square dancing in the Western Front.....how funny. See I'll cast a vote where some of these clues fit...Cat on a Hot Tin Roof??? Where they were waltzing..and square dancing....well I don't know but I'll take a stab in the dark.
  3. redriver I was soooo happy to see this was coming on I am ready to watch. I am esp. looking forward to the interview with Wilder. Finally I may be able to catch Double Indemity I have always wanted to watch it and missed it. I love the Apartment also an excellent film. I'm so happy to watch whenenver this movie comes on-is it just me or can anyone else not picture this movie in anything but B&W. Shut up and deal.....
  4. Mythoughts WELCOME! to the boards so glad to have you!
  5. I have posted this before but I just love the accordian playing the Rocky music and the tender song oh I wish I knew its title anyway it is haunting to me it touched my heart. I worked in a nursing home so it touched me also in this way. Occassionally I woul run into a movie fan, once there was a resident who lived in California back in the 40s and 50s and what talks we had. One of the best things was telling this resident about TCM she had cable but didn't know there was such a channel... many a time she would put off doing things if she could because she was in the middle of a movie. She remembered Penny Serenade when we talked about the record turning it was such a good feeling to share the old movies with someone else. There was also someone who knew old songs if you could unlock the memory. Much to my delight this resident knew the tune of Meet Me in St. Louis so as I sang it she hummed it. However back to the Rocky play I saw it and told the kids about it and I said you've got to see and we couldn't catch it. My children looked at me like I was crazy when I brought it up and I haven't been able to redeem myself. I told them just watch it when it comes on....it looks better than I describe it
  6. CCerini let me WELCOME you with open arms to the forum we are soo happy to have you! Songbird are you new also? If so WELCOME to you also we love to have new members join us.
  7. Sandy I thought of Rose but I couldn't post or get online since my son was on the telephone. I never would have thought of Agnes in a million years.
  8. I didn't see an answer for this and I can't claim to know them all but here goes the 5 Smith children: Alonzo, Esther, Tootie, and crap I can't remember the other 2.
  9. It rings a bell but I can't recall much about it except he did get to show his buddies what for didn't he. I hope you get to see it soon.
  10. I like Wuthering Heights but I can only watch it every once in awhile it is such a roller coaster ride. It tears my guts out and it is hard to put them back in again and again.
  11. I loved the old folks home putting on a show of Rocky that aired when it was 31 days of Oscar.
  12. I meant Kelly in his tights-sorry.
  13. Bunderful all I have to say is I wish I didn't have to work and I could stay home to watch TCM's showing of these movies but I had to work. Of course by the time I got home The Pirate was on and I really don't care for this movie though Keely in the tights was a nice to look at but I couldn't bear to watch not even for a look at Gene's legs.
  14. Boy Joan Crawford how busy? How lucky????? Clark Gable and Yul?? Anyway in the book Get Happy about Judy Garland it says that these 2 had fun together....Well his only lasting relationship I guess was The King and I.
  15. Please don't talk bad about my Robert bear! I LOVED! the Rocky promo I cried. The accordian playing the Rocky theme was haunting. I told my kids about it but we could never catch it again. TCM please show the Rocky thing again! Also lest we forget our new additions our younger posters who agree the old movies are wonderful. Let's don't offend them. Does TCM need something different Yes are the sitting on a gold mine without realizing its full potential Yes is there room for both I like to think so. I don't know about the Wilma ...or whatever his name is I think unplug that now. I saw him on a show and they were going your momma and the premise was to come up with the best your momma line and he was one of the producers....so don't let him near TCM.
  16. I'll miss you cindbm. If it helps I don't know the answers to the other trivia ?s either. Hope to see you soon-any hopes of seeing you post in the the other forums?? We hate to see you go....gwtwbooklover
  17. *****SPOILER ALERT*********I finally saw The Way We Were today and was amused. I'm just throwing this out to my fellow TCMers. Let's see the part of the movie when Streisand is lying in bed and looking straight ahead and the following scene when she and Redford are in a clinch that's what amused me. I have seen these 2 scenes when they show Steisand clips or Redford clips or at the Oscars when they show clips. Plus let's don't forget when they show love movies and praise the romatical aspects of the movies. Those scenes are so etched in my mind that it amused me to see them in there proper context and frankly it ain't sweet or at least mutually romantic. See I always thought esp. that looking straight ahead look by Steisand followed a moment of passion between the 2 players and well it don't. I laughed outloudand I'm the last to know-oh well. I'm so happy I finally watched this film. I cried. I so hoped Hubbell and Katie could work things out. However I did appreciate how J.J. appreciared Katie to atleast Hubbell he knew they would be lost without each other.
  18. I am a big Garland fan also looove her. I'm looking forward to Lily Mars I have never seen it. Welcome to the boards FranciscaW so glad you jumped into the swim we are proud to count you as a poster-visit often.
  19. Oh I was walking to my car and it is amazing what goes thru your head I thought isn't it funny, after reading the link provided by hlywdkjk, it hits me oh the next day. Hey, Janes character in Gentlema Prefer Blondes laments the fact that the Olympic team has to be in bed by 9pm and Jane in the articl laaaments over the fact that the show she and her fellow performers are puuting on is over at 9:30ish. I'm tickled. Guys she's not performing now taking a break but I told the kids I'd give my eye teeth to see Jane Russell or at least I'd make a valiant effort just the same.
  20. JackBurley I can't get the link to come up. Thank you for the info I'll try later.
  21. Yes, I know several has complained and it has been discussed but it bears repeating because it is not like there ain't no other movies amongst Ted's collection. I also would like to let TCM I appreciate all they do for us viewers but can't you stop the showing of the rare views in the middle of the night??
  22. PLease TCM please can you switch your programming around what I'm driving at is I wanted to watch Clash by Night. However, TCM chose to show again How to Marry a Millionaire within a few weeks of its last showing and I had to go to sleep-though I put up a valiant effort. Marilyn was shining in this movie she was acting her voice was not unnatural and I appreciated it. Like I said off to bed I went please TCM can you please show the movies we all haven't seen 50 million times in the resonable hours of the evening. It's all I ask. BTW I think Hoosiers has been on 4 times within the last 2 months.
  23. let's see if I got my wish and looked like the women who are so beautiful who knows what I'd look like-a hodgepodge I'm sure but Jane is sooo beautiful and tall and frankly I prefer her to Marilyn in Gentleman prerfer blodes-wonder what Jane thought of her blonde locks for the courtroom scene.
