  1. Ah-I'll throw out a guess Coors?
  2. thank you so very much for the info it was very helpful and informative
  3. mongo I have another TV ? this time about All in the Family when did Edith die I mean I once saw an episode where Edith is ill and Archie has her making all the fixings for Saint Paddy's Day and her legs gave out but when the next episode came on it was not in sequence it went to an earlier episode. Did Edith have her "stroke" on an episode I believe it was death by stroke I could be mistaken or did it happen off camera between seasons did they show Archie losing Edith? Also why did Jean Stapleton leave the show was it money or did she feel like doing something else what was the reason they killed Edith? Also how long did the shows Carroll O'Conner did without Edith last? Thank you in advance. By the way Edith was my favorite character on All in the Family she made the show for me.
  4. I've posted this before but I get so tickled about it-it bears repeating. On the DVD when the menu comes up for the original movie when you move the indicator to what you want to see and this is a boat when you chose the catagory the boat flips over upside down the kids thought it was so cool.
  5. charlie T that is from Back to the Future the first one Doc said it to Marty at the end.
  6. annelindley I read somewhere that Shelley had actually gained more weight to play her character to get more in character. AMC recently advertised they were going to show the origainal Poseiden Adventure. The advertising for it was hilarious it said If you think TOM is unstable wait until you see this CRUISE I roared. You're right about Love Affair I saw the remake with Beatty and Benning on AMC on Mother's Day and it was awful! I saw it from the point when they agreed to meet at the Empire State Building on the plane. How should I put this...obviously they had chemistry to make their kiddies...but it was non-existent on the screen. What an awful, awful remake. Which begs the question did Beatty see this film when it was made? to see how bad it was..wait I just thought of Heaven Can Wait I retract my comments. Boy what chemistry Grant and Kerr had. I was on tenderhooks doing this whole movie would they get together?? or not.
  7. DOSFAN! Try Hallmark channell they may show your movies-they show alot of older Disney films.
  8. blackandwhitecharm I am 36 but I can totally relate I was so heavy into classic rock-n-roll when I was 13. I discovered classic movies later in my teens. Welcome to the neighborhood!
  9. thanks mongo for the info on Van did I mention he is one of my favs-Van I love you.Didn't Gelbert do MASH write for MASH which is one of my favorite TV shows. I remember seeing cartoons after the final episode was aired and it showed people putting there TVs by the curb like they would their trash.
  10. ********SPOILER ALERT******I thoght of another hole in this movie soon after I logged off the other time-should it be obvious to me that the old barhand was the killer of Munson??? If so how could he do so at the position he was in-could he honestly hit Munson in the back from behind the bar? Wouldn't the trajectory be off wouldn't it be impossible to get a good stab from behind the bar? Or did he jump form behind the bar stab the dude and jump back behind the bar???
  11. good for you bigHammondFan it will drive you crazy to know what in the world was that movie. Was Lauren Bacall in that movie? I think I remember her writing about it in her book? She said it was the 2nd movie with her in it that came out but it was the 3rd filmed. She wrote the critics were awful to her in the reviews. If I get the chance I'll look on the IMDB website to see if she was in it.
  12. I remember that Gregory Peck ran into alot of Atticus Finch namesakes on a documentary I saw awhile back on TCM. They were either named Atticus Finch or Atticus was their middle names and he found that Mocking Bird had inspired lots of these people to become lawyers. I have a friend who named her daughter Mallori after the character on Family Ties. I don't know if the spelling is the same but that is who she is named after.
  13. Darn I can't recall the title of the movie and I watched it on what was Lionel Barrymoore's birthday and I apologize for my misspelling of his name-if it is. It was a one word title Sweepings?? Well, he was a store owner and a man with 4 kids and when he talked about what he expected of them to their faces or to another character in the film when he got to his only daughter and the generalization of not leaving the store in her hands because she was a woman grated on my nerves something fierce. As a matter of fact most dialogue along this vein grates on my nerves.
  14. Sorry it has taken so long to reply to your answering my ? I appreciate it. Is this author Ayn still living? What are the titles of some of some of the other books written by this author?
  15. Oh you lucky dogs! that live so close to be able to attend that showing and it is so affordable-what a treat. Like someone posted boy I sure hope if you attend you'll let us know how it went. And A HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout to Glenn Ford.
  16. OH I will have to catch this again when it comes back. I missed it except for the last 30 minutes. AGONY! What I saw I liked. Kudos to de Havallind on her portrayl it was riveting if at first a little hard to take. I mean when I first started watching I thought was is Olivia talking that way?? Well a sheltered life is what she lived and this commanded her actions, thoughts and deeds this wide eyed innocence in dress, demeanor and voice. However like the others have posted when she learned the truth well watch out! I love the line from her Aunt's Question How could you be so cruel- How can I? I've been taught by masters. Also her saying that Morris wanted her money the first time and the 2nd time around he wanted her love well that was to much. I really have got to see this movie all the way through does anyone know when it will come on again?
  17. See I was thinking how I my vision of my favorite stars are mired by what I know about them personally or if they aren't my favs what sets me on the road to truly disliking them. Tom Cruise for instance-I had ill feelings for him after I read about his divorce proceedings against Nicole Kidman-he handled it in such a bad way almost devious. I am divorced and also a woman and the way he sprung it on Nicole who had no clue was just disgusting. So this new round of silent births which he has NEVER been apart of just seemed pompous to me. Of course I'm assuming Cruise and Kidman were not present during their adoptive children's birth and I'm not saying that they are not true parents because they adopted but making someone pregnant and watching them go thru the changes and having that person go into labor is something Cruise has not experienced so how could he judge? I hope Katie squeezed the dickens out of his hands during delivery and maybe she let out a justified "Oh God " or two. Anyway, I wrote that despite what I've learned about Joan Crawford I can watch her movies but in the back of my head is that weirdness. Same goes for Gary Cooper I like him but he didn't do right by Patricia Neal. He could have been more of a man while she and he were a couple esp. when she had her abortion he should have went in with her. Of course this opens a whole can of worms about immorality that these dalliances should have never of taken place then Neal wouldn't have been in the position she was in but she was and that is how Gary Cooper doesn't shine so high in my eyes. Like I've said what I learn about the stars affect how I see them or like them. Then there's what I read about them that they themselves write for instance Kirk Douglas his book the Ragman's Son was at time a bit hard to read If I could I would have slapped him a few times. However, Lana Turner wrote a book that told of her life warts and all and I found this quite admirable and therefore I will try to see the Turner films. Funny isn't it. I'll ask this question how many of your opinions were changed about Rock Hudson when you found out he was gay? I was shocked but boy what a hunk of man. I don't see him as gay I see him as Rock Hudson movie star but it took awhile for the surprise to wear off for sure. Anyway I don't mean to offend anyone just posting .
  18. Did you placenta talkers see the faux coverage of Suri's birth on MSNBC? It said all hail princess Suri has been born...and how long she was 20 inches and already one third as tall as her father...and it is unsure if she'll get to have a binky. I hope Katie did alright and all went well and that mother and child are well. I also hope from one person who has giving birth to another if she wanted to Katie let out a sound or two.
  19. Hello to mbug and his mother! Welcome. filmlover the Lonesome Polecat sequence is one of my favorite parts of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and to learn itis one long tracking movement is incredible. Can you imagine the rehearsal needed to make it look so fluid. Now the girl walking or the waitess walking in From Here to Eternity that ain't long though the camera follows along in what I belive is a continious shot. Oh, I wish I could walk like that girl.
  20. wmruffin i have to agree with sugarpuss sometimes it gets to where what an actor does on the outside if you will that you can't abide the actor anymore. I share sugarpuss' feelings about Tom Cruise. He is an actor of my generation and I'm ashamed. What is even worse is the one film of his that I loved before he went wacko was Jerry Maguire and I can't stand to watch it now. Which brings to mind I like a funny comment sometimes they are painful and the person who gets them usually hates them like Elvis the pelvis-I'd like to know who was the first to call or refer to Cruise as tomcat I get tickled everytime I hear it. I wish I could think of someone right off that I wouldn't cross the steet for besides Paris Hilton which is a given so not much of a choice. UM...I going to have to think about this. Let me state though that I have no problem with Joan Crawford watching her and knowing her adoptive childen recollections of their lives together. Perhaps it is because she can act that makes the difference. I don't mean to anger you Crawford fans. Anyway the person who posted about Steven Segal looking like he is surprised to even be a movie how funny!-how true.
  21. Now here is another classic I haven't seen. Mind you want to watch itbut it comes on at the most inconvient times here lately like in the middle of the day when I should be at work.I hope it is chock-full of extras for you shearerchic04. I hope tocatch it on TCM one of these days.
  22. thanks filmlover and mongo for the info I appreciate it...gwtwbooklover
  23. I just thought of a movie ? The song about the sobbing women from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers popped into my head while I tried to sleep. My friend who was watching with me said I never could find that story in the bible. I'm assuning Adam got the story wrong about the"Sobbing" women how the story went and how he interpreted it are 2 different things. I also assume Adam was refering to his wife's book that he meant the bible but perhaps it wasn't? Anyway what is the story Adam is telling his brothers that charges them up to get going to get wives? Where would I find it in the bible?-to read it. I am just wondering I hope this ? doesn't offend anyone for that is not my intentions. Thank you
  24. I am going to admit I've not seen Ben Hur it doesn't appeal to me. I did like The Pigeon that took Rome and I loved how Heston plays in the remake of Planet of the Apes the best part I thought(I saw this movie on a date-not my choice-we didn't date again) Heston sure did look like he was enjoying himself being on the side of the apes instead the other way around. Makes me think of Gregory Peck playing that slick character in the remake of Cape Fear. Of course the original was better they added more violence, a little more sex but the origianal had all that I love how the older movies don't have to show you the obvious the mind makes it own movies. Is Ben Hur Heston's favorite movie? It seems it and The Ten Commandments and planet of the Apes are his best known movies.
