Guys what is a post master? and if it is someone who "minds the posting" perhaps TCM should get one for the message boards. Obviously someone has put a lot of work in this entire website and I'm not knocking that but maybe the post board is languishing for lack of someone to look after it directly? Even the Lisa Marie Presley website has a forum that is organized. They even have a moderator and though I don't know if I'd support this {the next opinion they quelch could be yours} A look after person would be nice-TCM. And all you people looking for a career with TCM-this could be for you how about that? Neccesity is the mother of invention you know. Anyway can anyone tell me what a webmaster is?

To TCM Web Staff...Posting Problems!
gwtwbooklover replied to classicsfan1119's topic in General Discussions
Yes ML I will let TCM know of my problems so they can be addressed though now{knock on wood } it is working. I would go between topics and the right hand corner would say my screen name and then it would say guest and this varied between forums. Which means I couldn't post where I was called a Guest and expect it to be posted. I also couldn't open this page at first today it told me the download was unsuccessful. I had the first mentioned problem yesterday 7-6-04. The server also seems slow to go from forum to forum and topic to topic. I have Earhlink so it 's not just AOL-ers with this problem. Hope you all, at TCM get this problem fixed soon and to those unable to join in we miss you...gwtwbooklover -
moneyw0818 if you've haven't seen the Egg and I it shows on TCM and when it does you should watch it. It is funny and the Ma and Pa Kettle scenes are priceless. The first time Claudette went to see Ma Kettle and Ma "cleans" the table by clearing it with her hand sweeping everything unto the floor was just priceless. If you need more info on Ma and Pa Kettle go to IMDB.com and you should be able to find the titles to all their movies.

I just read in the business section of my local newspaper about the bidding war for MGM by Time Warner and Sony. The paper lists a small timetable of events in MGM history like when it was founded, when it aquired United Artists, the release of the first James Bond movie, etc. It also lists that Ted Turner acquired MGM/UA pre-1948 library. My question is every last one of them? WOW if the answer is yes. Imagine owning all those movies guys. I don't know if you would be in the position to answer my question but if you could I'd appreciate it. Does this mean he owns all the films from 1948 down to the vey first one made when MGM started in 1924? WOW

ognad2 Rose-marie is my favorite of the Eddy/MacDonald pairings also-I get tickled though when Jannette's character is speaking with the "backwoods" accent.Must apologize for any misspellings of the actor's names if there is any. BTW those is no packet of the whole series? yet?-I'm surprised.

Wouldn't you know when you remember the actors they have starred in more than one movie together...you may want to try IMDB.com-which is referred to in numerous posts around here. It is chockfull of info about almost anything put on film-it is highly recommended by other's on this website. Good Luck with your movie title. -
Private Screenings with Patricia Neal

Oh mongo just reading Rita's name made me think there are so many stars so many that if they are willing TCM can interview. With Brando dying, it just seems like one should hurry if the stars are willing to talk with them before it is to late. Didn't Rita Moreno look wonderful on the recent AFI countdown? Such a talented woman. -
Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome plus a hundred times more to you both sudzydudzy BTW what a cute name and abbessapocalypse-what an interesting name...

I was at work when I learned a co-worker asked me if I had heard Marlo Brando was dead-what a shock OMG. I first saw him in Superman. I've never seen the Godfather movies{they've never appealed to me} but On the Waterfront I love that movie. I was suprised to learn he was 80 years old he just seemed timeless to me I guess. I got a pleasant surprise when the recent AFI countdown came on and there was Brando singing. I also enjoyed Sayonara. I send my condolences to his family and friends. And yes Brando you were a contender.

I have not been posting for long and have not posted for awhile due to some nasty remarks to a subject I opened called Didn't get to see the end back in General Discussions. To leo's credit he still is posting whether one agrees with him or not. I do believe he was misunderstood and at the sametime ill-advised to post Day's political preferences-esp. if it is an assumption. And does it matter? Leo do you know for sure if Day voted for Bush or is for Bush? When we go to the voting booth it is secret-I hope. Maybe he could have left off the part about Bush after he Praised her singing and acting talent-he did you can read it for yourself. But maybe politics and America's Sweetheart don't mix and maybe this has angered you all. What if this thread was about Jane Fonda who's political life is very public domain. It's not I know but maybe we could learn to disregard some comments if we don't agree with them esp. if they are misunderstood on the reader's part and perhaps better left off by the poster if you will. I mean he never said she didn't deserve the reward and he even congratulated her and then comes the next...Everyone is entitled to their opinion and therefore we are entitled to read it or not.Leo I understood your comment if it helps and I ask you and others to just agree to disagree. Also remember we have the love of movies in common and the poster you have a beef with can help you with a movie question or two and be very enlightning and funny and mis spell.

You probably know she is married to Mike Farrell who played **** Hunnicut on MASH. She has had the heartbreak of Alzheimer's in her family also I believe it was one of her parents. She occasionally has a picture turn up in tabloid magazines. I liked her on Coach but loved her being bad on One Day at a Time and of course there is Johnny Angel and the other song I can't recall the name but it's has the lines "Johnny get angry,Johnny get mad give me the biggest lecture I've ever had....." Wasn't she lovely on the Donna Reed show? It was the Donna Reed show wasn't it?

Power of the written word: Favorite newspaper film
gwtwbooklover replied to bggalaxy's topic in Your Favorites
A small scene with a newspaper from The Thomas Crown Affair where one is encouraged to be a fink for x amount of money-I like that scene. Of course Citizen Kane but I like Kane's friend Jediadiah{I'm sure I spelled that wrong} where he asks the person hitting him up for info on Charlie for cigars and his crack about nurses-how funny. -
Private Screenings with Patricia Neal
gwtwbooklover replied to tracispires's topic in Information, Please!
I could have watched all night. It seemed it was all over with to soon. Perhaps they could do a part 2 or 3 with Patricia Neal or any of the others. Has there been a Private Screenings with Van Johnson? I don't think so since ML has posted once that she thought he or Janet Leigh might be interested. I'd watch to hear him say "Come on baby give" I love that line. Also how about it TCM programmer-how about a few questions from TCM viewers for the stars sent in by mail or e-mail? Just one or 2 questions-anyone else think this is a good idea? -
Slappy just wanted to thank you for the title of the book Hud was based on-I have great intentions to get to the library to check it out. I have read Lonesome Dove and I loved it. I didn't know he wrote non-westerns either you learn something new everyday-huh?

Patricia Neal Personal Appearance
gwtwbooklover replied to moviejoe79's topic in General Discussions
Moviejoe if you go you'll have to let us know all about it. I love Patricia Neal and she looked lovely on Private Screenings. I wish I could go but I'm nowhere near New York. -
A thought provoking and good question coffeedan1927 because they worked their hearts out on those black and white films. I mean since it was in black and white the costumes were no less dramatic or beautiful and I'm sure the burning of Atlanta, the sword fights, the world's fair exhibits, and the characters of Oz would have been carried out as well as humanely possible whether it was in black or white or color. Good Question.

gwtwbooklover replied to camman8294's topic in Information, Please!
thanks for the info edgecliffd will check it out on IMDB I have it on my favorites. I've seen Reflections of a Golden Eye-didn't care for it. -
Here, here, here edge I didn't even think of that a star commentaring on their movie how grand. They do that now with new movies on DVD-I didn't even think about older movies with commentary-a great idea.

No I haven't see Torch Song or the parody by the Carol Burnett Show but I have seen the parody of Mildred Pierce and will watch Mildred Pierce the movie any chance I get-a great movie. What I remember of the parody is Carol is at the police station and the cop says start from the beginning and she says "Well, I was born.." and the cop says maybe not that far back...

Wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else-you are in the middle of a movie and you don't get to see the end. It first happened to me when a was in the 5th grade. Our teacher brought the TV in one day and we got to see A Raisin in the Sun with Sidney Poiter and then the next day she couldn't get the TV again and we never saw the end. I've always wanted to see it even at this late date and of course I won't be going to New York to see it so I'll have to wait. Kudos to Mrs. Rashad for her win for Raisin BTW. And then it happened again TCM advertised The Romance of Rosy Ridge and I made plans to watch it and with 45 minutes to go my neighbor came over and said in a teary voiced"I'm getting a divorce" and of course that was the end of the movie watching. I did catch the end of Rosy Ridge but it was some time later. It was just at that point where one is about to learn about Leigh's brother-oh the humanity.

I haven't seen Shakespere in Love but I have seen Paltrow in other roles and she's very convincing like in the movie Jefferson in Paris and for the life of me can't think of another title. However, I think Paltrow woudn't take on the role if she couldn't do it some justice. With her background in the entertainment industry, I mean her roots with her father and mother's background I don't think, I hope, that'ld she'd tackle it. And hopefully Blythe Danner would talk her out of it if it was ill-advised.

I saw the new version of the Haunting my friend and I watched it on video. One day I was watching TCM it was Halloween time and I watched this movie the Haunting. It sounded very famaliar as I watched it and then I thought the other must be a remake boy did they mess it up. The up shot to this is it came on again and my friend saw it and she liked it better than the remake also. I felt with the remake they got to the end and didn't know how to end it and concotted a stupid, stupid ending. Also do you guys remember when Ted Turner had that weak moment and thought about colorizing movies like the Maltese Falcon which took advantage of black and white tell me did they end up colorizing it? I hope not.

A saw a commercial for this movie which says it is a movie based on Cole Porter. I believe Kevin Kline will play Porter. I only saw the commercial once but I saw the costumes they look real pretty. Also some singers of today are in it like Alannis Morisette and I'm assuming she'll be singing a Porter song wonder how that will sound?
-
Yes slappy that's the one I mean I thought that it was Marie Dressler who was the older lady in the movie and they probably didn't use the word robotics either.

The unfortunate happens to the palm tree in Mr. Roberts the perfect insult and come uppance wrapped in one.
