moirafinnie14-have you seen the episode of the Carol Burnett show where they poke fun at the Kildare movies? They show the Kildare character in the middle of an operaration when the Barrymore character wheels in and he starts to speak and this character chose his words carefully and was slow to get them out-much to the Kildare characters chargin. The patient dies of course and that's the end of the Burnett skit. Of course to me it is not as funny as the GWTW skit done by the Carol Burnett Show with the curtain rod.

How funny-psscuddles. I love people with a sense of humor that would explain it hanging out with the crew. Passing out the sandwiches between scenes till they needed her again.

Hey-kiziahqt be on the look out for a filler between movies where Leslie Caron speaks of Lili. The sinic in me could not watch Lili the first time found it to unbelievable but when I did watch it found it very charming. Her belief in thinking the puppets were real was so touching.

John Travolta was my first case of heartthrob-dem. My mother took us to see Grease at a Drive-In in CA {and she didn't drive asked a friend to take us} it was a double feature they were showing Saturday Night Fever also. I loved it. I would only eat Italian Dressing on my salad cause John was Italian in the movie-in Saturday Night Fever. We were to poor to buy posters and the such but I had such a crush on John Travolta. Now I watch and concentrate on the songs as before but on those dancers the background dancers boy those people make the movie dancing their hearts out. And appreciating Eve Arden who turned out a wonderful performance and Joan Blondell as the waitress. BTW does TCM ever show that movie Tammy I think it was that Debbie Reynolds got advice from that started the Beauty School dropout number-was there such a movie and was Eddie Fisher in it?

I like the barbs exchanged between Gloria and her mother's friend in the movie Butterfield 8.

guys I didn't have a problem with discussing stars gone too soon it was the listing of the deaths on the monthly calender that turned my stomach-have you seen this page? It's after Robert's article a few pages over. I feel this is a mis step by a channel that rarely mis steps. As TCMprogrammer stated he/she felt uneasy about it also-I was so shocked at the listing of deaths wondering if I'd run into Suicides, Robberies,Died in Childbirth, etc for example. I don't have a problem with learning how one died{I wish they hadn't} and yes it is no secret but to list it so-see look for yourself on one day they are showing the stars that died of drug overdoses. And the next of natural causes and etc. This left such a sour taste in my mouth. I was appalled. Let's take Twilight Zone The Movie for example-remenber the actor and child actor that was decapitated during filming? A very tragic accident as to be sure-I wasn't sure if I would be reading that next in the listing of movies. It's the listing so cold that just didn't sit right with me.

Is IMDB a website if so what's the address? Is it a database? Is it devoted to old movies? Thanks for any info-wonder what it is since it is referred to a few times.

mutinyetc do you like all 3? or the first one? I like the 3rd one Sean Connery kept me in stitches I love how when they are tied together and indie says dad and connery goes what and this repeats several times and how Connery accidently turns them to the Nazi room and says OOps and returns them to the other room without indie noticing. Also liked "she talks in her sleep" conversation between father and son. I wasn't impressed with the 2nd one. However, it was fruitful for Speilberg who met his wife on the set.

Have you received your July TCM guide? It is about stars gone to soon and I read Robert's article and then I got sick to my stomch looking at the line-up for movies featuring movies of stars gone to soon. It lists how they died as if this was relevant? It has Natural Causes,Drug Overdoses, Tragic Accidents etc. I thought this was in exteme bad taste-anybody else? I found the promise of exploring how these deaths affected others interesting like Robert's writing of Dean's demise and how Paul Newman inherited a role meant for James Dean. But the listing of the deaths how dreadful and they didn't even pick the demised stars best movies if they were going to slap them in the face this way.

I remember seeing the Bogart/Bacall Bugs cartoon as a child. I like the Edward G. Robinson parody-you'll never get me copper,you'll never get me copper and Bugs going "what about me boss,what about me boss" when they are dividing the money. My favorite of the EGR parody is when there is a shoot out with the cops and the little guy with the EGR character can't shoot without having the kickback of the gun move him backward so the parodied EGR props him still with a board-I rolled laughing all over the floor over this one.

Why was it controversial edgecliffd? I was astounded when I learned that Steiger played the character he played in Dr. Zhivago and was one in the same actor playing Gillispie in In Heat of the Night talk about diversity and talent.

Guys thanks for the info but I happened to remember that there wasn't sliced bread in the frying pan in the movie. It was round so sliced from a baked loaf of what type of bread? Yes bggalaxy I think you have the right movie-I like this movie to see the Kirk Douglas character become a feeling person is very touching. Wasn't the kid who married Fields named Brownie in the movie? My only problem with this movie is how did that lady survive to provide the pivitol scene at the end without the aid of water or a place to sleep? I seem to remember she wasn't {at the end} a member of the continuing traveling party after the pox scare-am I wrong?

TCM programmer-other websites I have visited list the coporate side of their businesses and have a link for Careers at these companies maybe TCM can consider adding this? You know a link to the business side of TCM

Spence-let me tell you again I understand like classicfan and others but I have also had long winded posts if you will and I have never lost{knock on wood}my posts because of length. I had AOL and I would type away and nothing was posted-it would break my heart not to be able to coomunicate. I had the same problem it was so frustrating after you type away does it say Guests aren't allowed to perform the following function? I would yell but I'm not a guest. I had AOL at the time but have since switched because AOL had no local access numbers in my area. Anyway TCM told me that it was because of the capital letter in my server name and they suggested I switch to a new screen name with small letters but this didn't work either. And your screen name is in small letters so that's not it. Hope you are able to get your problem resolved-spencer1964

FYI-all you Audrey Hepburn fans a new book is out about Audry Hepburn titled An Elegant Spirit by Sean Hepburn Ferrer. I read about it in the newspaper and thought I'd pass on the info. The article says all the proceeds from the book will go to the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund started by the son a year after her death for educational services in countries she visited for UNICEF.
