Is Now Voyager based on a book? If so who wrote it? I love this movie also but of course this wasn't prevelent then but why couldn't bette and Jerry Vale be together? Jerry would divorce his wife and get custody of Tina {sighting cruelty on Tina's mother} because wouldn't Tina figure their moon and stars arrangement out and how could they give the poor child another cross to bear-better to come clean. I know, I know I probably pay to close attention to details and probably ought to get out more when one talks of movie characters like they were real.

I have always wanted to know what it was Olympia Dukakis was cooking in Moonstruck in a certain scene what I best remember is it is morning and it is an opening {I mean an opening to the next scene} the scene is focusing right on the frying pan. Olympia drops an egg into what appears to be a piece of bread with a hole in the middle. Anyway it looks delicious will never forget when I watched it my brother said in a whisper to me while I was thinking it "looks good doesn't it?" If you know do you have a recipe? The scene shows her flipping what she is cooking and then I believe Cher's character walks in and they start talking. Thanks

I know this may not be very movie related but I am still upset with the the passing of one of my favorites. Especially on the heals of Reagan's passing and wondering but not wanting to know who next? Ray's music was so special to my ear and my heart and he had a way to deliver a song like no one else. Will miss him dearly..Brother Ray. On a movie vein and probably not considered great movie making by some The Blues Brothers Ray Charles was in it. He played a music store owner who the blues brother visited and they wondered how he stayed in business being blind and had inclinations to just run off with the instruments they wanted. However the boys had to reconsider when they found out how Ray stayed in business and kept people from stealing-very funny scene

Did you find the title to your Jean Harlow movie? You say you don't remember much well I remember A Jean Harlow movie but not its title ...do you remember any shooting....and Harlow leaves for London....where she meets a man named Andre{who was played by Cary Grant}...I always got tickled when Harlow had to say Andre because she said it with that Harlow voice Annnndre and thru the nose....Andre was in the military and he took Jean home to meet his father and he says a line that has stuck with me...the father asks Andre why do you want to marry this girl{it was during a war the 2 met} And Andre says because I think she'll make a charming widow.

Did you know there is an episode of Seinfeld alomg these lines? Cramer goes to a vacation home of George's girlfriend Susan and it is a cigar in this case.. Man I miss Seinfeld Sometimes it was hard to watch but always humorous...Wish I knew the name of your movie though good luck finding it

Saw A Desperate Journey tonight and I have to report that I didn't have a problem watching it-for this movie he wasn't President Reagan. As a matter of fact he got some pretty good lines and scenes esp. expaining the workings of the airplane and his line " the iron fist has a glass jaw" As I sated before I like John loves Mary but does anyone else find Patricia Neal's voice hard to listen to she is trying to sound sophisticated,uppercrust and it strains my ear. However Patricia Neal-ese breaks thru her dialogue occassionally wished they had left it there and let her speak with her natural voice.

Once saw a movie made by Joan Crawford and can't remember the name. Believe it to be one from her last outings. She plays a blind woman who wishes to see again and money is no object in her quest. A scene with Tom Bosely is erringly stuck in my mind. Any help?

I have read this book also loved it I cried at the ending of his telling of the life he and Gracie shared.George wrote another book,will go to my room to get the title...The Third Time Around and on the sleeve it lists another book Living It UP that was written by Burns. I hate to say it but I haven't read The Third Time Around yet. How do you find your books? I order some from the library but you have to return those. I have been very lucky to find the ones I keep at the Salvation Army and seconhand stores. It is hard to really believe sometimes what you read. I tend to believe an author if I'm reading a book that they put themselves also in a bad light, if while they may tell certain things on someone else they report some unscruplous thing they have done. Like Kirk Douglas and him dealing with himself and his womanizing, knowing that he should know better but he does anyway-until he doesn't. Lorna Luft who tells of her drug use and of some others I didn't neccessarily want to know about. It's these stars that blame everyone else for their messes but themselves or ones who sidesteps an issue entirely that make for a difficult read. I Especilly like By Myself by Lauren Bacall and Lana Turner The Lady the Legend the Truth and her daughter's book Detour such honesty by all 3 ladies and Lana's daughter for telling the story Lana didn't in her book.

Somone has probably mentioned Ida Lupino a rarity in the early days of film making. Admire her greatly as a director and an actress. I also like Vincette Minnelli and Blly Wilder esp. The Apartment. Which I like for the use of his actors in this movie esp. Fred McMurry's portrayl of his character. Of today like Mel Gibson for Braveheart -haven't seen Passion yet. Also like Kevin Costner's Dancing With Wolves-a beautiful movie-a great piece of movie making.

Maybe you might want to find info about the Haye's office I think they dealt with censorship. I also think rated movies like G PG are a very recent development well about 30 35 years ago. Vincette Minelli talks some about censorship in his book I remember It Well-his dealings with censorship for Madame Bovary.

Don't know personally but I have asked about another movie and some kind soul sent me to a web site to access the info I wanted. Can't remember what it was but someone may know since ones are reluntant to give out endings so as to not spoil the movie for others. Take heart TCM shines the light on Allen movies from time to time so you may catch it again. Good Luck.

Have to tell you all about my two of my treasures from a catalog I purchased the concert footage shot when Liza Minnelli and Judy Garland were in concert together at the Palladium in London. Watched it over and over and then the tape broke. Then there was the day I was at the Dollar General and I thought since I scoured the book titles I'll look at the tapes. There it was-20 years of the oscar telecasts clips from these shows for 8 dollars it was mine. Karl Malden is the host and the company that makes the Kit-Kat wafer bars sponsered it. As a matter of fact, there was a coupon for a free Kit-Kat inside pretty remarkable since the video came out in 1990. The coupon had no expiration date so we redeemed it and I watched Excitely highlights from oscar telecasts from 1970-1990. IT shows all the lead actor winners and best pictures,what they thought was highlights from performing of songs and funny sketches. It also gives insight to the controversies like when Brando doesn't come himself for his oscar for the Godfather or Dustin Hoffman's problem with competing with other actors etc. It was so nice to see stars like Barbara Stanwyk, Willian Holden, Lemmon, Matthau, Helen Hayes, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant and many more. It made me laugh, I cried and I thought I was so lucky to find it.

Well the house ate the dvd set I bought that had some Chaplin and Buster Keaton on it. The dvd player went on the fritz which made my child regret showing me how to use the Playstation. However, they got the last laugh since the Playstation says disc read error at times when I watch a movie. So frustarating since I got my drink, got the popcorn and I trekked upstairs{not to mention my child penciling me} and dang it if my other child's movies Bruce Almighty and School of Rock works just fine-wouldn't you know. I bought Private Benjamin some stuff related to Elvis-not one of his movies. I haven't bought anything real recently but when I do I feel like I'm holding a treasure. Oh, remember buying Psycho on VHS what a ride once was enough for me for awhile on this movie. My dream buy would be a collection of Oscar telecasts over 70 years worth for about 70.00 or 80.00 it would be mine-alas it has to wait.

I've tried to see on the TCM archives if I could find the year but no luck-how frustrating. However I will guesstimate it came out ahh..between 1959 and 1965. Now to tell you what I definetly know I don't know which star is listed first so I don't know if it is a Natalie Wood movie{who is Steve's costar} or if Steve is hers if you will. It plays occassionally on lifetime and other stations it is a romance but it is a bumpy road ahead for the two players. It also has Tom Bosley in the cast. It is a 5*movie to me just wish I knew the year and when it will be on again.I can't find it under a search for steve McQueen or Natalie Wood. Does anyone know anything to help lococardinal out?

brackenhe hang in ther buddy, I speak from experience. Post away if one doesn't agree with you that's one thing but to try to tell you, you aren't welcome or to make you feel unwelcomed is another. I'll tell you I was about 10 or 11 years old when Reagan was elected and when he would talk about Star wars or the funding for it I was frightened as a child. If stars get political and Reagan was in a big way it seems foolish not to discuss it. It is a real class act for you to issue an apology if you offended anyone some people aren't so big to do this. I remember also being surprised to learn that Reagan was once a democrat and it is interesting to read about in other stars autobigraphies their take on Reagan the actor and Reagan the politician. Kirk Douglas talks about it in A Ragman's Son. June Allyson writes about Dick Powell and Reagan talking politics as well. I wish I could remember the tilte to Allyson's book I cried buckets when she writes of Dick Powell's death. Anyway it is politics{in a way} that brought Reagan the love of his life as one is elected to the screen actor's guild presidency as Reagan was a young starlet named Nancy Davis came to him with a problem she was having.

I didn't get anywhere with the web address given but I did go to www.ocala.com and from here I typed in a search for Dorothy Van Engle which lead to info plus there is a picture. She is very beautiful. It also said 3 of her films are available on video Murder in Harlem, Lying Lips, and Girl From Chicago. And yes she was friends with Lena Horne-she and Lena grew up in the same apartment house in Harlem on 145th steet-how about that?

What are the titles to some of her movies? will look at her obituary after i post. Was she friends with Lena Horne?

well i'm late but i have to post how i liked Tony Randall especially the roles in the Day and Hudson movies. Especially humorous is his role in Send Me No Flowers the Hudson character thinks he is dying and he lets his best friend played by Randall know and the information about Kills the Randall character he can't sleep, can't eat drinks like a fish and his lines are hilarious. he was the glue that held the movies together.However as Felix, the Felix character got on my nerves but Tony played it well. when i saw the movie version it was strange to see Jak Lemmon playing Felix who my mind says only Randall could play Felix he was more believable to me in the role than Lemmon. but it was hilarious when Lemmon, as Felix, went to the window to try to commit suicide at the begining of the movie and couldn't open the window and thus to oscar's he goes. I miss Lemmon too and Matthau.

i thought Jane Wyman was dead-i thought i had heard she passed on in the 80s or 90s wasn't she on one of the primetime soap operas in the late 80s or 90s or was that another hollywood star like barbara stanwyk. i think i remember Wyman being on Falcon Crest before she passed on. If she isn't i apologize for my error for i mean nothing malicious. But as we are posting bout reagan i have to tell you all also about when i saw nancy's movie The next Voice You"ll be Hearing i was on the edge of my seat. as was the person who watched it with me. i remember saying hey that looks like Nancy Reagan and it was and she looked convincingly pregnant. I also learned at about this time that Rock Hudson not only made romantic movies with Doris Day but with Jane Wyman and these movies were very entertaining.

oh stupid me i posted and did not log in beforehand, how aggravating anyway as i was posting.......as some of you may already know David Nivens was the one at the microphone when the infamous streaker ran across the oscar stage and Nivens displayed an abiltity to deal with things under pressure. Liz Taylor followed him and she could not speak without a nervous twitter{as i would have and i don't know if i could have went out on that stage} to her voice and she says i'm really nervous that really shook me up. Nivens though said after the streaker exited and he let out an antonished laughed he said well ladies and gentleman that was bound to happen sooner or later but isn't it ironic that the biggest laugh that man ever got was for showing his shortcomings. the oscar audience roars. After listening to Bob tell me about seperate tables i tried to watch it but couldn't get into it and changed the channel

what i was wanting to communicate is how strange it seems to me looking at old movies from my present to then how things don't seem a difficult pass {for example the coming of age of shirley temple} they say her career never was the same when she got older and see i like the older shirley. she grew up to be quite beautiful and her acting evolved to show more emotion, depth than being a cute dancing presence. mind you i didn't grow up in the great depression and in no way can appreciate the joy she gave those audiences. but it seems to me a flourishing career was cut short by growing up. like judy garland when people think of her as dorothy or the our gang kids. also i have trouble with {and i know this slightly changes the subject} the oscar elizabeth taylor got for virginia wolf. richard burton should have received it he is the one who holds the movie together the audience would be lost without him. just because liz let herself look awful to the hilt and we saw a side of her we never saw it is richard burton who did the outstanding acting, lead actor wise in this movie. then there's the story that liz says she didn't deserve the oscar for butterfield 8 and i disagree she did a great job in this.just my thoughts what yours?

i was a work today and realized i didn't mention those blue,blue eyes which i never fail to mention when i get a chance to talk about Steve mcqueen. love them, would love to go swimming in them. and other things with steve.

this is one of the first movies a watched when i discovered tcm on my cable line up. it was strange to be able to hear what the characters were thinking. i remember thinking should i be hearing this, where is this dialogue coming from? i got interested of course i recognized gable being the gwtw fan that i am. then i watched it and loved it i found it very original. i did find the older versions of the principle characters funny to look at you know them acting and appaearing old it didnt seem a vey transitional change it was like now we have white hair and now our characters act old they didn't seem convincing. but the movie still played well-did you have this experience deeanddaisy666
