I am a huge Bette Davis fan and own most of her films. TCM never shows or has
shown Payment on Demand by director Curtis Bernhardt. Davis made this film after leaving Warner's and actually was offered the part of Margo Channing in All About Eve while making this movie for RKO. Reviews for this movie were fair to good. Another note of trivia is Bette's horrible little daughter who wrote that sensational book about her makes an uneventful debut in this movie at the age of 3.
Anyway, this movie has never been released on VHS or DVD as far as I know. If anyone knows why or any info on this movie please let me know!
Thanks!
Jack

Missing Bette Davis Movie and Did She Really Coin the Name Oscar
in Ask Robert Osborne A Question
Posted
Robert,
You make watching TCM so enjoyable. Your wealth of knowledge is overwhelming and impressive. What I would not give to spend an afternoon picking your brain. Now to the question.
*Where is the 1951 Bette Davis movie "Payment on Demand" directed by Curtis Bernhardt?*
TCM has never shown this movie to my knowledge and it has never been available on VHS or DVD. I would be so eternally grateful if you could answer this question that I have been searching for years to find. *Also what are your thoughts on Miss Davis' Claim that she named the Oscar after her husband Ham Oscar Nelson?* Of course you know the story, that she joking said that the statues behind favored her husband, Oscar?s.
From the biggest Bette Davis fan and with kindest regards,
Jack Norman
