I too prefer the movie musicals to the Broadway stuff...Though I also have my exceptions as Gigi is probably my favorite movie and Kiss Me Kate is a wonderful movie...
As far as Breakfast at Tiffany's though, I love that movie and consider myself an Audrey fan but I still never really cared for My Fair Lady...

Yes I agree.
Though I am new here, I am not new to message boards and when I joined here I was quite dissapointed in how this board is setup, not only is it slow and hard to log into but the whole layout is kind of out of whack...
I mean I don't want to be a nuisance, I do come here for the classic movie chat (and for the fact that I am a fan of this channel) but I just wish that there was a better format for doing so.

Yes I'm glad to see that non-AOL users can finally vote!
I'm also very glad to see Greed on the list, I would love for that one to be released on DVD!

Yes, Black and White films are beautiful...I often prefer B&W to Technicolor (Not always but often)
I just think of some movies like The Philadelphia Story...Would that movie have been quite the same if it were in color?
Like the scene when Katharine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart are beside the pool at night...the black and white film just adds a certain warmness to that scene that makes it stand out in my mind.

Hi Kim!
Glad to see someone else (in my age group)who is interested in the same thing!
I think I may take that course at my local college and perhaps transfer from there to somewhere else that has a class specializing in what I want to do...I guess I'll just see what happens!
Thanks for your reply...

Wow thanks for all of the information!
I appreciate it as I can't seem to find much information on the net, but I may just be looking for the wrong thing...but I'll keep trying...
Thanks again!

Hello!
I am 18 years old, and am about to embark on my college career.
I would like to become a film preservationist/historian, and I am not sure what courses or major that I should take.
If there is someone out there with any information that would be helpful on this.
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

The Movie is Good...but I just can't watch it

woah woah woah...
I'm beginning to believe that there are some major grudges against the LOTR Trilogy...I really enjoyed these movies personally, and though I am young I too am not a major fan of CGI...but I also have to bring up the question, How else could they have gotten these effects? If they do it without CGI it's campy and with it it's campy, there's really no way around it when it comes to these fantasy movies, but I do think that they did a really good job with what materials they had...and also from the interviews that I've seen they tried to use as little CGI as possible to make it look more realistic...
But again these were fantasy movies and just as fantasy movies in the past have done they've always tried to use the 'latest' in special effects so I don't know why these movies should be treated so much differently for using CGI.
And yes I agree, these are nowhere near the extent of Star Wars episodes 1 & 2...both of those were quite dissapointing for me as I used to be a big Star Wars fan...
