Yes, sixmorereasons, you are indeed correct! Its that great film noir directed by John Huston. By the way, casino is the card game that Emmerich, the crooked lawyer played by Louis Calhern, plays with his invalid wife.
Its your turn, sixmorereasons! Thanks for all the guesses!

And the name of the movie is.....?
One last hint-
Clue #12 - "Don't bone me!" exclaims the hooligan.

In a previous post, I wrote that I thought the graphics were OK, but I didn't like the new music. Well, I was watching this past weekend and the daytime graphic showed what I guessed was a fall or winter scene, showing trees with naked limbs through the graph lines. What was disturbing about this was there were birds that were flying back and forth and they looked huge, like pterodactyls! Was there a problem with the scale of the images or what? What do you folks think?

To get back to the original subject, I just read that they are doing a remake of Guess Whose Coming To Dinner with - gasp! - Ashton Kutcher! Please tell me I was dreaming when I read this. Or perhaps I was having a nightmare.

No takers? Here's another clue.
Clue #9 - a long taxi ride

I just wanted to again compliment bansi4 for the great job done daily on this thread. It is always entertaining and informative, not only with the actual dates and filmographies, but with the really interesting details that make it a must-read every day. The information on Allen 'Rocky' Lane is a perfect example. I don't think you can get that kind of info off the imdb. Thanks again for making this my daily treat!

Sorry, I forgot to respond to feaito's guess. No, its not Casino.

I'm sorry ike358 but you'll have to check with someone who is more knowledgeable that I concerning this thread. Here is the next clue:

Hey Phoebe! Its great to have another young person be so interested in classic movies. I've been a movie lover all my life and I can guarantee you will spend many enjoyable hours watching movies on TCM. Not to mention chatting about them on these boards. Glad to have you here!

I think the reason I like to hear Bogdanovich is that I feel he genuinely loves movies. And he is so knowledgeable about the classics that I never fail to be entertained by his stories of classic Hollywood. And let's not forget one of his best efforts, Paper Moon.
Hope everything goes well, Spence! Get well soon!

tmsenzig, what a great idea! Putting all of the Broadway Melodies in one boxed set would be fabulous! I hope someone is paying attention.
-
Clark Gable, from Cadiz, Ohio?
-
Thanks for the honor, path40a but that's not it.
Clue #4 - casino

Great suggestion, moviejoe79! A boxed set of Bette would be wonderful. But the problem is there are so many to choose from how could anyone decided what to put in that set? She had such a long career and so many really great roles it would be hard to choose. Maybe Warners could release a set from different decades, from pre-code on, and give us the best from each. Wouldn't that be great? Well, I can dream, can't I? Brava Bette!

I just saw this commercial and I couldn't help but laugh out loud. To me, this is why TCM is the best! Witty and sophisticated humor is in all too short a supply these days.

What is 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'?
