  1. Mongo, this is great stuff! Had no idea that Rex Ingram was a doctor. And that Jerry Orbach used to drive Mae West around. Maybe TCM can have him do a tribute to Mae or have Bob interview him. I know his experience is mostly on Broadway and on Law and Order but I'm sure he would have some interesting things to talk about.

Thanks again for the daily treat, Mongo!

  2. moviejoe79, what a great idea! I'd love to hear and/or participate in some great movie discussions. And I'd also like to see some of the greats on the big screen. But please make it so someone like me who isn't near a big city can experience it too. Maybe the panel discussions can be broadcast on TCM. Along with some of the classic fans on these boards, maybe they can get a star or two to participate. Well, I can dream, can't I?

  3. While I liked Nick Clooney and Bob Dorian, they really can't compare to Robert Osbourne. Not only is Bob a true film historian, he demonstrates a genuine enthusiasm and affection for the movies shown on TCM. And I love the respect and admiration he shows during his Private Screenings for the people being interviewed. The PS done with Betty Hutton and Esther Williams are just two that come immediately to mind. Sometimes I find myself tuning into a movie I've seen many times just to hear what Bob has to say before and after the showing. He always has something interesting to say. Hands down, Bob is the best!

  4. ratchbane, you are right. TCM is the absolute best. I can't tell you how much I am enjoying the Mad About Musicals showings this month. Only TCM can put together something like this. To borrow a line from Cole Porter, they are the top!

  5. Hey balletstar86! Delighted to have another Hitchcock fan aboard! I know you will enjoy these boards as much as I do.

P.S. I just heard Rosemary's The Last Concert CD. It is fabulous! I think its amazing that she still sounded so great even at the end of her life. Brava Rosie!

  6. I saw one of my absolute favorites yesterday during the TCM showing of Ziegfeld Girl. Jimmy Stewart is the truck driver in love with soon to be showgirl Lana Turner and after another argument about her career says sarcastically, "Dames is just like traffic. Sometimes you gotta stop. Sometimes you gotta go." I first saw that clip in That's Entertainment and have loved it ever since.
