Dos-Anyone catch Ordet on the 29th? Yikes. What a movie! So depressing, and powerful, and dark. Between that and M, I don't know which one is more powerful for that time period.

Yes! I agree with you! Sideways was my fav. from last year as well. Mad Hot Ballroom was pretty good, although I feel that it went on a bit too long.

I know, I know, this is Turner CLASSIC Movies, but any movie fan has to talk about some of the movies released in theatres right now, every once in a while, so why don't I start that right now. I am 16 years old, and I probably see almost every movie that is released, and I even go for the indie and foreign pics, which are usually my favorite.
The best movie in release right now has to be Crash, which was a wonderful and thoughtful piece on race relations in LA. I thought the new Batman movie was really good as well, drifting away from campy humor and focusing more on the darkness that is Batman, even though I still love Batman Returns.
War of the Worlds was a very look movie too, with some great special effects, and intense and well made scenes. I had some problems with the last fifteen minutes, but the rest of the film over shadows it. I really enjoyed Cinderella Man, as well.
On the indie front, I could say that I loved a movie called Me and You and Everyone We Know. I also liked an Enron documentary, and a penguin documentary called March of the Penguins.
But, Hollywood releases a never ending cycle of bad movies, and that is apparant with High Tension, The Honeymooners remake, among others. Bewitched was entertaining for the most part, but nothing to write home about.
Anybody have any opinions on some movies out in theatres right now, or new to video?
And don't hate me because I'm not only on classic movies for a small bit. You need an even distribution to classics and modern, is what I would say.

Did anybody see Doctor Jack last night? I saw it in the theatres in Manhattan in May, and it was hilarious, and even better on TCM. I think I'd have to say that Harold Lloyd was my favorite out of Chaplin and Keaton, and himself. I especially loved the poker scene. Llyod comediic timing was perfect in all of it. It's def. in my Top 100 or all time.
What did any of you guys thing?

I need help finding the name of a movie. It was on TCM a few months ago, and it was from Denmark, and one of the characters though he was Jesus, or something like that, and I think it started with the letter O.
Any information will help.

I'm not saying anything about it. I'm just making an observation, because usually TCM is much earlier in movies, so you don't hear as much. I'm 15. . . and I use those words sometimes.

Lots of "f's" on TCM last night with Quiz Show, A Fish Called Wanda, and Jeryr Maguire combined. It surely wasn't a night for the kids. . .

Is it just me, or have the Robert Osbourne intros been slipping lately? Out of all four movies I watched on TCM last night(January 24), there was nothing really informative or interesting. It felt like he just picked out random trivia and said it on the air. I don't watch the guy on the weekends, and I only watch The Essentials whenever there is something I want to see on, but I was disappointed when I didn't learn anything interesting before or after the movies I watched.

I watched 4 of the 5 silent films on last night, and I loved The Temptress. Camille was a little dull, and I had already seen Ace of Hearts and Laugh, Clown, Laugh, and their two of my favorites, so I watched them again. How was The Rag Man, I couldn't stay up any longer. . .

TCM should have a night with some of those old Ed Wood movies. They are supposed to be terrible, but I would like to see some of them.

I didn't care much for A Very Long Engagement. It was alright, but I felt that it was a tad on the long side, and some of it was kind of useless. Jodie Foster confused me too, she just popped out of nowhere. I didn't see Tarnation or Dig. Maria Full of Grace I liked, and Before Sunset is on the honorable list. Control Room was alright too, but I'm not big on documentaries. I liked Super Size Me, and that almost made honorable mentions. I felt that Fahrenheit 9/11 didn't deserve a spot, although I did like it. Napolean Dyanmite and Team America are on my list, so you don't get flack.

We've already bought like 3 VCR's and they never work in our dang tv. Also, I've been waiting three months to see the end of that movie. I feel asleep the first time I watched it. I liked it alot, but I was tired that day. I didn't want to wait another month. It's that movie that was on like every week in the summer, and then I decided to watch it, and it wasn't on for about three months. I decided to seize the opportunity.

I want to know why they didn't show "Dr Strangelove" at like ten o clock during that Peter Sellers night. I had to wake up at 4:30 to watch it, and then had to go to school. But, it was well worth it. Hilarious, dark, and masterfully directed. Being on at 4:45 WAS better than it being on at like 1:00 or 2:00. Then it's hard to stay up late AND get up the next day. All I had to do was go to bed a little earlier.

The Febuary lineup is up, and I can't help but notice that there is absolutely no silent sunday's, and alot of the movies are VERY recent, like from the 70's and 80's and even the 90's. Is there a logical reason for this?

Nah, I'm not going to watch it on NBC. If there's one thing I hate more than anything it's watching a movie with commericals.

All The King's Men

I just finished Robert Penn Warren's All the King's Men, and I must say, in my 16 years of life, that is the best American book I ever read. The Anne character was so beautifully written, that, had she been a real person, I could easily have fallen in love with her, and when she "betrayed" the narrater, I felt just as hurt. But that's besides the point.
I want to know about the movie. I know that I'll hate it, because it can't compare to the book, but I try to always divide the two, much like I do with remakes. I don't compare, I watch the new one as if the original was never made. But, how was the movie? I hear that it's being redone with Sean Penn, and Jude Law, and Kate Winslet. And why is the movie never on TCM?
Just some thoughts. ..
