Has anybody besides me noticed how many classic movies had gone "out of print" in the VHS format and are no longer being manufactured. Go to amazon.com and look up just about any star and at least half of the films that were ever released on tape are no longer available. Even more alarming is how few classics are on DVD - Jean Harlow has just one DVD out PLATINUM BLONDE and she is not alone - many other greats too are poorly represented on DVD.

Dorothy Lamour has to be one of the most underrated movie stars of alltime, a beautiful, multi-talented lady who made all sorts of movies. Now that TCM has been showing more and more old Paramount films I am hoping they will raid the vaults all pull out some super rare Lamour gems like ALOMA OF THE SOUTH SEAS, BEYOND THE BLUE HORIZON, THE JUNGLE PRINCESS, AND THE ANGELS SING, A MEDAL FOR BENNY, etc.

I have wanted to see this movie forever!! It has never shown on TCM and I think it did show on AMC a few times in the late 80's - I missed it then but I do think I remember promos for it.

I don't think the story would work today. Nobody could compare to Marilyn and Jane anyway, two of my top favorites (GPB in fact is one of my top five favorite movies). But don't forget the Marilyn movie was a REMAKE itself - the first version was a silent starring Ruth Taylor and Alice White that has sadly been long lost.
