TCM~ Listen, we probably don?t say it enough but your one of the best channels on TV. It takes a lot to run such a great network, a great variety of movies and NO commercials are a miracle. If there are little things we point out it?s not bitter that?s just how observant we are. We may want some more foreign films, or a certain star to be shown more ect. but overall I give you a ten because most of the time you listen to us. Or at least explain why something isn?t doable. TCM has a great respect for movies and it shows.I am glad that such a pure channel is out there for me to watch. I can?t say that about anything else on TV. It must be hard work.
Another thing I like are the promos, the promo for Audrey Hepburn in super slow black n white was stunning, seeing that guy run around with a string of film for ?roll film? was great. Even the background for where you put the line up, especially at night, with the buildings, really adds to the mood. Osbourne is a great host that always has something interesting to say. I look forward to the Essentials every week. I love ?Word of Mouth? also. Your ?Watch the Skies? documentary was very well done, informative and enjoyable. I don?t even watch that much sci-fi either! I can?t help but notice the little things because you do such a great job.
Keep up the good work.

Okay, I'm 16 so i'm slightly biased but i do agree w/ alot of what your saying. Here goes my list:
Nicole Kidman-Good actress. Really deserved that oscar. If you can sit through the wacky begining of 'Mulon Rogue' shes great in that. But my message to People magazine: "YOU HAVE TO FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO PUT ON YOUR COVER THEN TRASHY BRITNEY SPEARS AND NOT-HER-FAULT-OVER-HYPED KIDMAN"!
Who i like:
Renee Zellwigger
Julieann Moore (sp?)
Natalie Portman
Jude Law
Leo DiCaprio
Kate Winslit
Hugh Jackman
John Travolta
Nick Cage
Tom Hanks (duh!)
just off the top of my head. I'm not sure if any of them will be legends- i think thats a time will tell sort of thing. I think Meryl Streep is a living legend.
But the truth is alot of the new actors and actress who have potential to be great performers turn to all the sci-fi crap. Will Smith is a good actor but its easy to forget so sadly i don't see him as a legend. I admit we really don't have any greats.
Movies:
Like i said through the sci-fi crap we have good movies:
Matchstick men- Nick Cage is in it. Allison Lohman is an actress who no one has heard of yet is really amazing. She was 21 but played a 14 year old fantastic in this movie. Its about a con men whos daughter shows up out of nowhere. Sort of a Paper moon plot. Great twist ending.
Ghost World- Not a horror flick. It has Thora Birch in it and Scarlett Johansen (Scarlett's characters always seem the same to me but happily we don't really have to put up w/ her that much). About two girls out of high school and while they are celebrating their freedom one of them, Enid, has to make up a few credits in an art class and it turns out she is really creative. While the other girl Rebecca has her head on her shoulders. One day Enid forces Becky to follow some people she thinks are satanists and comes to an old "50s style" dinner (the juice box has nothing but Sir Mix alot and the Backstreet boys).Through some twists i won't ruin for you Enid has an affair w/ an older man named Seymore who helps her find things like old records, movies and clothes she is intrested. There is a little bit more to it but i only have so much computer time left but let me say there is a sad but hopeful ending. Not a teen movie.
A few others i would recomend 'The Good Girl', 'Stepford Wives', 'Garden State'and, now this is REALLY iffy considering the people i'm posting to but 'Mean Girls' is probably the best realistic teen movie since "The Breakfast". But i doubt you'll see that one lol. 'American Beauty' was great but some people "didn't get it" but if you love Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf? see it! Personally i think 'American' is better but thats just MHO.
Still i like old movies better. All the industry cares about is money and blockbusters. Its sad.I love Marilyn Monroe, Natalie wood, Cary Grant, Natalie Wood, Vivien Leigh and i LOVE Clark Gable. He is my absolute favorite! Annie Hall is also my fav. movie.
And for the record i doubt we will ever get another Marilyn. And if we did the chance of Paris Hilton having "it" is the same chance as pigs flying.
Just my opinion ~Andie

Well, i loved Vivien Leigh, Susan Hayward ("i want to live!' is my 2nd fav. movie. i read some review that said it was melodramatic. Excuse me but the main character was on deathrow! what did you think it was? a comedy? lol).Natalie Wood (she was perfect in west side story and rebel w/ out a cause. can you believe they almost didn't give her that role?) and Marilyn Monroe, that girl was an actress- i don't care what anyone else says. She was great in 'The Misfits', 'Bus Stop' and 'Some like it hot'. Olivia de Haviland was always underrated but who else could play goody two shoes and make you really care about her? And Audrey w/ out a doubt. Elizabeth Taylor she was beautiful and great also. ~Andie

"Word of Mouth" for AH?
in Information, Please!
Posted
i love "Word of Mouth". i think Cher's for Katherine Hepburn is the best one so far. Is there one for Audrey Hepburn, considering she is star of the month? I just read a great biography on her by Barry Paris that was just filled with people that admired her/inspired by her who could do "word of mouth" (including Cher or Bogdonavich). Thanx for your answer in advance.
