  1. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I was hoping to go this weekend; but I'll be in NY, seeing a couple things.
  2. Did they do Showboat? That's an older post, but it doesn't appear that anyone responded. Richard Rodgers did not compose SHOW BOAT, that was Jerome Kern. However, Oscar Hammerstein II, did do the lyrics. I've never been a tremendous fan of any of the screen versions of SHOW BOAT. They're all lacking in one area or other; but, I loved the London revival, in 1971 and the most successful of all the productions, the 1994 Broadway revival, which was just magnificent.
  3. I'll be seeing the concert MFL, on Saturday night. Really looking forward to it. Her first dubbing job was for Miss [Margaret] O?Brien in The Secret Garden (1949). Miss O?Brien, 12 at the time, was one of Hollywood?s top child stars. Ms. Nixon was 19. This was the first of a series of Julie Andrews/Marni Nixon connections. MGM, originally planned to do a full-scale musical version of THE SECRET GARDEN. They screen-tested Julie, who was then a musical hall star, in England for the leading role. She was deemed to be non-photogenic, and the film was ultimately made as a non-musical, with one song. Marni would go on to dub Audrey Hepburn in a role originated by Julie, appear in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, with Julie; and portray Eliza, on stage, after receiving coaching from Julie.
  4. I remember the line: "Sir are you trying to seduce me?", from the episode that showed the film, DANGER: DIABOLIK.
  5. I love dialogue-driven films; but, LONELYHEARTS, for me, was just not a good film. Especially, when compared to the play. For me, the only thing to recommend it, is Maureen Stapleton.
  6. I see just as many films today, as I ever did. There are many films made in recent years that are the equal or better of any film, ever made. A classic for me is any film that is of the highest standard. Many films, of vary genres are very well made, today. And, just like always, many aren't.
  7. As was the music track (same track, I assume). Very difficult, at times, to make out the dialog.
  8. Great, entertaining film, filled with wonderful performances. How sad is it, when the mother sells Pilgrim for the money of Stewart's uniform?
  9. I have all the commercially avaiable ones, but my all-time favorite episode has not been released. Thanks for the info.
  10. And, there isn't a single thing wrong with the charming PRINCESS DIARIES. Although, I'll admit that part 2 had no business (other than financial) being made.
  11. I hate to break it to you, but the song is not in LIBERTY VALANCE. It's a tremendous film, and you should give it a try. I was never a Gary Cooper fan, until much later in adulthood. As a younger person, I just found him dull. I can really appreciate him, now. The good things is that I still have many films of his, to discover.
  12. Please stop following me. Stop posting in this thread. Please start your own Julie Andrews thread if you want to post on one. I promise, I will not post there.
  13. Oh, I'm so frightened! Did you report the troll for posting that to me? If not, why not?
  14. This is what the **** said to me, on another thread: Why don't you go and spank the monkey with all of your Julie Andrews photos? Sounds like a **** to me. Attention or otherwise. I didn't start this, the psycho-troll attention **** did. So stop your preaching.
  15. Apologize?!?! You don't agree that the Psycho-Troll is an attention ****?
  16. And, of course, the attention-**** known by more than one name, just followed me to another thread so it could continue to spread its virus, with a pointless post.
  17. Are you happy with the quality of these DVD-Rs? How do they compare with the commercially available ones? Thanks.
  18. Like anyone is fooled into thinking that GildaHayworth is not Cinemascope. Stop posting here.Start your own thread.
  19. As I said in another thread, Cinemascope (and the other names it goes by), is a psycho-troll and attention ****. Why should anyone be surprised that it is a shill, as well. Its endless copy and pasting of film critics proves how mentally unbalanced it is. Not to mention its inability to stop posting on every thread I visit. .
  20. She's in it, for sure, as Miss Caswell.
  21. It may be THE MANITOU (1978). I can't say that I recall that scene, exactly; but it's been almost 30 years since I've seen it.
