  1. "Roadblock" is certainly a good suggestion. I'll check the plot description and see how it goes. Someone else mentioned "Side Street". I'll let you know if either is a match. Thanks again for your help.
  2. I am desperately hoping that someone may be able to identify a '40's or '50's "Film Noir". The title has eluded me for many years. I watched this film as a boy on "Star Theatre" in the late '50's or early '60's. Its clever plot and the use of a flashback made an indelible impression on me. Unfortunately, by the time videocassettes came into being I had forgotten the title which I believe had only one or two words in it. I also remember associating the title with a common highway department roadside sign hoping that it would help me to recall it later. It didn?t work and I?ve been trying to track down this movie for a long time. To me the identifying scene is set at the tracks of a train station where the main character is anxiously about to board a train. Suddenly he is accosted by an older gentleman who urgently warns the younger man not to board because imminent misfortune awaits him if he does. The disbelieving traveler shrugs off the stranger's pleas and gets on the train despite his warning. My recollection of what follows isn't clear, but I believe the plot flashes back to an earlier time and the story develops until we?re eventually led back to the present in which it becomes apparent that a disaster is about to occur either on the train or at the station where the old man had made his fateful prediction. I was intrigued by this film and fear that it may be one of those "B" films that have been lost. In forty years I've never encountered it again. I?ve really consulted many sources including periodicals devoted to classic film in an effort to solve this mystery but have had no success. Can someone please help me identify the title of this movie?
