  1. What a beautiful woman, and a very underrated actress. How great she was in THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES - certainly deserved a Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. I agree, myidolspencer, the popular "entertainment news" shows do not always properly acknowledge the entertainers of the past upon their deaths. In a world of 24 hour show biz news coverage, these media outlets could and should do better in paying tribute. Blonde Rabbit
  2. Happy TCM viewing... Happy posting... Happy everything to all of you in 2005. I shall drink a carrot juice toast in your honor at midnight tonight. Blonde Rabbit
  3. In looking over my previous post, I apologize to the man seeking a woman on this forum. How he chooses to conduct his search and, in essence, his life, is none of my business. I regret my comments. Offering this in the spirit of the holiday season, I'll hop off to shop now.... Blonde Rabbit
  4. Let's see. Sophia's been married to Carlo for 40 some years.... Lynda's married to a D.C. attorney, I believe... Ursula is single? Raquel is single? Both of whom are far too sharp and classy for this guy. While you can't blame a guy for trying, his lack of common sense in demanding an unreal degree of perfection may be his problem here. But hey, I'm just a little Blonde Rabbit. BTW any young William Holdens out there, Norma, with whom you are familiar? Blonde Rabbit Older then Dirt but Still Feisty
  5. Your list is just wonderful. Unless my aging eyes have missed it, please add SHANE. Blonde Rabbit
  6. Hi Coffeedan, fellow December baby. Happy B-day on the 11th. While I never received combined B-Day/Xmas gifts, my cousin who was born on December 24 - just like Ava Gardner! - did. It always irritated her a bit. I'm happy to get a gift or a greeting any time. WHEEEEE. BlondeRabbit
  7. A Capricorn to join the Sagittarian December babies. Happy B-Day, garboloygrant. Blonde Rabbit
  8. This is like a modern day Capra film! You go, girl movie fan. Blonde Rabbit
  9. And happy birthday 12/3 to GWTW Booklover too Blonde Rabbit Fellow Sagittarian
  10. Blonde Rabbit hopping in here. Just cast my vote for you, darlin'. My grandfather was a grad of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln too. Must keep this all in the family. Good luck. Blonde Rabbit
  11. Happy T-Day to all. BlondeRabbit here is hopping out to a brunch by the sea that day. My dad's ancestors were Pilgrims. My mom's ancestors were Native Americans. So we always grasped the meaning of the original Thanksgiving in my childhood home! Everyone please have a safe and happy feast day. And remember: GONE WITH THE WIND is on Thanksgiving night for dessert. Blonde Rabbit
  12. According to the Los Angeles Times TV book, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE will be shown on NBC-TV this Saturday (November 27) at 8PM.
  13. Hi again therealfuster. Rock and roll Blonde Rabbit here. The Marcels' 1961 BLUE MOON was indeed a wild doo **** version of the classic that was a tremendous hit - and still holds up quite well today when you hear it on the oldies' stations. Sha Na Na copied it to the note, but Elvis actually recorded a slow, country blues version of BLUE MOON while signed to Sun Records in the mid'50's. Few protests about Elvis because he really wasn't well known outside of the South - till a few months later. Still like the fabulous Mel Torme version. Just sublime. BlondeRabbit (music soothes my hoppity soul)
  14. therealfuster, Marlene and Hattie McDaniel would have made an unusual couple, but very little would surprise me. I did see that documentary about the "lost" I, CLAUDIUS. While I thought the Jacobi series was just brilliant, wouldn't it have been quite a show with Laughton? BlondeRabbit
  15. therealfuster, MOROCCO has two great, memorable moments also: 1)Dietrich in white tails kissing the woman on the lips; and 2)Dietrich taking her high heels off and following Gary Cooper's camp into the desert. There are no Dietrichs around today. Not even close. Wasn't there a quote attributed to Von Sternberg, after Marlene became an Hollywood star: "I am Marlene Dietrich." For the most part, she was her own unique creation. But von Sternberg helped her with the blueprints. Blonde Rabbit
  16. Moira will soon be appearing in both the Broadway and West End productions of CABARET! Thanks for your cosmopolitan welcome. Blonde Rabbit
  17. I meant BLONDE VENUS. Guess I had a bit of a BLONDE ATTACK myself. Blonde Rabbit
  18. Hi therealfuster. SHANGHAI EXPRESS definitely. "It took more than one man to change my name to Shanghai Lil." Does it get any better than this? And the sublime, underrated and underutilized by Hollywood Anna May Wong. BLONDE EXPRESS is the runnerup. The voodoo/gorilla number. Wow. It's a shame there aren't real characters running around Hollywood today like von Sternberg and von Stroheim. Blonde Rabbit
  19. Classic film lovers are a rare breed indeed. We are like the last of a lost species and are dependent on one another to breathe. Thanks silentfan66 for those wise words. Reading these boards is a bit like discovering part of your lost tribe after thinking there's little chance left of finding them. Then you read posts by the smart 16-year-old gingerrogers25and feel happy knowing that new members join all the time. THERE'S HOPE! Blonde Rabbit
  20. ayresorchid this is very interesting. Love the comment about needing a song with 3 notes or so for Jean Harlow. And to think BLUE MOON evolved from this. Blonde Rabbit P.S. A terrific version of this classic is sung by Mel Torme. He takes the words BLUE MOON and gets about 16 notes out of them!
  21. Well, as one strong female to another, no one welcomed me either, so I'm now welcoming myself. WELCOME BLONDE RABBIT! And welcome to you too, my dear therealfuster. Let's rattle these boards in a positive constructive, yes, fun manner. We have a whole century of filmmaking to discuss and not a moment to waste. Blonde Rabbit
  22. Just thought of two more. And both redheads! Lucille Ball in her RKO/MGM days was so beautiful she was nicknamed "Technicolor Tessie." Kay Kendall, the brillian British comedienne and wife of Rex Harrison, another beautiful woman who could play comedy well. Blonde Rabbit (well, strawberry blonde)
  23. Venerados, my bad. I used "actor" in a gender neutral sense and should have been more specific. Apologies! Therealfuster, Claire Trevor and Virginia O'Brien were both wonderful also. I think today's audience would enjoy Ms. O'Brien for her bluesy voice and her deadpan, sly delivery. Blonde Rabbit
