When you are trying to find a comforter that matches the color scheme in your room and all you think of is the dress that Scarlett O'Hara wore for the BBQ at Twelve Oaks would match perfectly. When you have a pair of shoes that remind of the ones Joan Crawford wore and you name your shoes "JC shoes". When you go to your hair stylist and you tell them you want the "Garbo look". When you are watching Sunset Boulevard and you are looking for Buster Keaton and Anna Q Nelson. You ask yourself "Just what was wrong with John Gilbert's voice" while you are watching Queen Christina. And calling Louis B Mayer a few choice names in the same breath for letting Gilbert go. Hello everyone! I started this new post to see what your favorite decade fashions are. I'm really into vintage clothing and I love the styles from the late 20's to early 60's. But if I had to pick a favorite it will have to be the 1940's look. I know some of you men out there are thinking "What a girlie subject". It's not! I love the suits that our favorite male actors wore in the 30's and 40's. I hope that this post will be as fun as the others

mark96me, have you seen The Best of Everything with JC? I believe it came out in the late 50's, say around 1957. She didn't have many scenes in it but her role was excellent. I felt sorry for her. I don't want to give away any info on it b/c you need to see it for yourself, if you haven't seen it yet. The subject matter is a little racy, especially during the 50's. Let me know what you think of it after you see it. By the way, I can't pick either. They were both awesome. Sorry path40a. Garbo's character was not kept by Barrymore. It was Henry Daniels. Barrymore played Robert Taylor's father, who was against the love affair between Garbo and Taylor. I've seen that movie so many times, and I still cry at the end. I have a colorized version of it. I prefer the B&W.

You are so right, Harlowgirl! Where is the glamour these days?! That is one of the reasons why I love the movies of yesteryear. I'm 33 and have been a fan of old movies since I was a little girl. My first idol (and still is)was Garbo. She was the epitome of glamour, style, coolness, etc, etc... You don't get that with today's stars. They're too busy voicing their political beliefs and not contributing significantly to the cinema. Today's Hollywood absolutely bores me. Who the hell is Vin Diesel?! LOL

I would like to bring Clark Gable back and ask him how come he didn't fully acknowledge his daughter by Loretta Young.

I can't pick! They were both talented in their own right. I loved Lana in "Imitation Of Life", but I also loved Ava in "Mogambo". If I really had to choose, it will be Ava. I'm a huge Sinatra fan and I truly believe that she was the love of his life, contrary to recent publications of his life. Please do not get me started on his widow, Barbara. That's a whole different story there. Ava was all woman. She was down to earth and she never backed down from a good fight (she and Sinatra had a few).

I have to say that my favorite is Leo The Lion. Heck, MGM is my favorite movie studio. Mayer hired some awesome talent during his reign. Garbo, Crawford, Loy, Gable, etc. I know a great movie is going to show when I see Leo roaring.

My favorites are Keaton and the 3 Stooges. Keaton for his deadpan face and sorrowful eyes and The Stooges for their Mickey Finns and the way they butcher the English language. They all hold a special place in my heart. Keaton reminds me a lot of my grandfather. Funny as heck but with a stoic face. Moe Howard was a special man. He would dress up as Santa and bring gifts to the handicapped childrens home. What the studios did to Keaton (MGM) and The Stooges (Columbia) was a pity. But, they are in Comic Heaven and they are getting the last laugh!
