I've really gotten into Hitchcock movies recently. My personal favorite is "Vertigo" but "The Man Who Knew Too Much" is up there as well. "Shadow of a Doubt" is also another good realistic story. James Stewart is by far my favorite of Hitchcock's actors because he fits each role perfectly. From "Rope" to "Vertigo" he's the everyman.

Ginger Rogers--Spunkily beautiful
Priscilla Lane--I love her smiling eyes & her nose
Kim Novak--Most beautiful profile
Greer Garson--Define's the beauty of purity

I think both of these guys are good actors. Morgan is my choice between these two. I like his scottish accent and grin and he plays in a wide variety of quality roles in the 40's. I really enjoyed him in "3 Cheers for the Irish", "Bad Men of Missouri" and "God is my Co-pilot". He's one of my top 10 favorite actors. Ray Milland is very good too. I love him with Ginger Rogers in "The Major and the Minor" and in "The Doctor Takes a Wife" with Loretta Young. Milland definitely had a talent for comedy. Morgan's just a better all around actor in my opinion

Well I've shed tears of joy maybe at a film ending but I'm thinking here about tears of sadness, and for me the ultimate sad ending is Vertigo, always makes me cry! James Stewart (Scottie) makes Kim Novak (Judy) over into Madeline...then forces her to go up to the tower where Madeline died. He's really in love with Madeline but Judy wishes for him to love her for who she is. The lines "Oh Madeline I loved you so." are so sad because he's talking to Judy....then he loses her too as she falls from the tower. He's left standing all alone looking over the edge of the tower.
Also "The Edy Duchin Story" with Thyrone Power and Kim Novak is very sad. Edy dies while playing piano with his son, but his son keeps playing through the tears...very emotional ending. Defintely a tear jerker.

I very much agree that Eleanor Parker should get more recognition then she deserves. I really enjoyed her performance in "One for the book" with Ronald Reagan, as well as her extreme character in "Man with the Golden Arm" with Frank Sinatra. "The Sound of Music" also comes to mind. She is deserving of an honorary oscar. She should definitely be star of the month!

Definitely one of my favorite actresses. She has a natural beauty about her that not many had during the 40's and 50's. I especially like her in Shadow of a Doubt and Pride of the Yankee's. Those films show the versatility of her character roles. Sometimes she would seem withdrawn and then she would burst forth with deep emotion in a scene. Her talents and moral character are definitely missed.

One of the greatest World War II spy movies of all time is Decision Before Dawn from 1951. It recieved two nominations for best picture of that year. It's the story of how Americans used German prisoners to spy on German movements towards the end of the war and how two German prisoners joined the American cause for different reasons. It's a great moving film, suspensful but it is not even on VHS or DVD! I wanna know why! Has anyone seen this movie?

I love westerns! There are some really good ones out there...and some not so good ones. But I'd have to say that my personal favorites would have to be "Seven Way's from Sundown" with Audie Murphy, "Winchester 73'" with James Stewart, "High Noon" with Gary Cooper and probably "Broken Arrow" with James Stewart and Jeff Chandler.
