My husband thinks they may have been called Perma-Match and that they may have disappeared due to lack of availabiltiy of the materials to make them during WWII.

Can anyone help me? I am sure that as a child while watching the very beginning of the Wizard of Oz, I have seen Toto chasing Ms. Gulch's cat as Ms. Gulch is watering her garden. Does anyone else remember this scene as it no longer appears on the versions I have seen lately?
