  1. why hasn't tcm ran the 1958 film snowfire? why hasn't wb released this great film on dvd yet? it's time it gets aired on tcm or released on dvd. it's not been on tv since the 70s. theres tons of people that want this movie. it's time wb quits saying no. it will sell big. or at least showing it on tcm would make people happy. i'm sick of no thats' that's excuse isn't gonna fly anymore.
  2. I just saw "Marie Antoinette" for the first time last week (rented it). It's a great film! I had seen Norma Shearer in The Women (and liked her performance), and I realized I had never seen any other of her films. So I am slowly starting to watch them. She was a good actress and I agree that she represented class and sophistication. Jon
  3. I went to the film festival too and had a blast! My brother and I, both students, got passes to all of the films. I'd never seen Hud; it was a great treat seeing it on the big screen like that. Too bad Patricia Neal couldn't make it... I really enjoyed all the movies and guests - especially Jane Powell and Louise Fletcher. My brother described the festival as one of the highlights of his life! Of course, he's only 19 and tends to exaggerate, but it was a lot of fun. I so hope that it becomes an annual event. I'd love to go every year. Also, my mother is already talking about joinin
  4. Oh, and my favorite performances in more recent films include: Nicole Kidman in Birth and Moulin Rouge, and Jessica Lange in Frances.
  5. Here are my favorite best actress performances: Joan Crawford in Humoresque, Bette Davis in Mr. Skeffington, Garbo in Camille, and Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd. Jon
  6. Who was the best? Wouldn't it be cool if TCM had a Joan Crawford and Bette Davis marathon that played their films back to back? Here are some ideas: Beyond the Forest VS. Flamingo Road The Virgin Queen VS. Queen Bee The Star VS. Sudden Fear Now Voyager VS. Mildred Pierce Mr. Skeffington VS. Humoresque Another Man's Poison VS. This Woman is Dangerous (the flops!) Well, I tried to pick movies that were equals to each other (one not being necessarily better than the other). What do you think? Personally, I have always thought Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were equally brilliant act
  7. Anyone here, hear about a star wars wallpaper coming out for your cell phone? I think it was for cingular, I might be wrong though-- long live VADER!!
  8. It's difficult to choose, but I think Vivien Leigh in "A Streetcar Named Desire" is probably my choice for greatest performance ever. I know that Jessica Tandy originated the role on Broadway, but I can't really imagine any other Blanche Dubois than Leigh.
  9. Does anyone know if the Jerry's market featured in "Double Indemnity" still exists, and, if so, where it is located exactly in Los Angeles? How about the apartment building where Fred MacMurray lives? It is show briefly in one scene as he drives up to it. I read in one article that this building is the famous Chateau Marmont hotel. It doesn't look like it, though. And how about the house where Barbara Stanwyck lives? Is it really in the Los Feliz neighborhood in Los Angeles? Thanks. This one of my favorite movies. By the way, if you want to find out which sound stage this mo
  10. What a bummer! I'm just down the road from Athens in Atlanta and I would have loved to have gone to that festival. I wish it had been advertised more. By the way, does anyone know if Osborne tapes his studio segments at TCM headquarters in Atlanta or at a Time Warner studio in Los Angeles? I work in a building in Atlanta right across the street from TCM and have always wondered if he was that close. My guess is not, since he has been a part of the showbusiness community and would more than likely make his home in Southern California.
  11. Anyone have any information about this Paul Muni classic? Great cast Gene Tierney, Laird Creager, Vincent Price, et. al. Believe made in 1940, action/adventure about the establishment of the Hudson's Bay fur company.
  12. Thank you all for your responses. I wish TCM had not changed the schedule on my favorite features - Darkness After Dawn, Silent Sundays, and The Essentials - but it's gratifying to be informed the change is temporary. Thanks for taking the time to respond and letting me know.
  13. Has TCM ever shown the 60's Bond movies?
  14. I was looking for Son of Hercules vs. the Fire Monsters among other Hercules titles on amazon and ebay, imdb shows that this movie does not have a dvd release, while on TCM shopping scifi and fantasy section dvds have this listed, i'm wondering is it TCM only special, and is it in the original aspect ratio, uncut from its original release? Thank you for your help.
  15. Hello, I'm searching for a movie that I think had James Garner and Joanne Woodward in it. It was set at a bird watching camp and the plot revolved around the bird watching theme (they were all in search of the ever elusive purple godwit?) James fell in love with Joanne, although they hated each other to begin with. I'm not even sure that these are the right actors. I think the movie was filmed maybe in the 70's? Anybody have any ideas as to the name of this? I've done searches on both James and Joanne, but nothing turns up. Thanks to all for any ideas... C. Davis Columbus, Ohi
  16. Every week, I wait for 8am Saturday morning for the next Darkness After Dawn film noir. But today, it's not here - and, when I look ahead through the rest of February, that slot no longer appears to exist in the schedule. Please tell me what's going on. I love TCM. It's literally the only tv channel I watch. But man, oh man, I'm upset not have my Saturday morning noir. (p.s. - has "The Essentials" disappeared as well?) Thanks for any info you can offer.

  18. I would like to know the name of a movie. It is about a young married couple right after WWII who rent an attic room from a college music professor. I think the woman is Jeanne Crain, but don't know the remaining actors' names.
  19. hi every1, I'm new here and I found this message board from google, seems pretty cool. I'm doing my dissertation for uni on representation of women in gangster films, and amongst other research I wondered how many of u females out there like gangster films, and y? or if u dont know why, just knowing if ne girls apart from me like gangster films would be good. either email me back at bp1111085@staffs.ac.uk or reply 2 this message. 20. I recently received my DVD of "Mourning Becomes Electra". The print used by Image Entertainment for the DVD release is the 160-minute print occasionally shown on TCM. Can anyone tell me what material is missing from the original 173-minute theatrical release?
