  1. Just wondering if it's my imagination or what? Seems like we are getting more and more foreign language and subtitled movies lately. I've always love this wonderful network, and I often listen to the movies while doing other things. Enough is enough.

  2. Does anyone know the title of the French spy movie I describe below? It was released in the mid 1970s, dubbed (not very smoothly) in English...I can not recollect the name, the director, or the star. The movie depicts a French scientist who was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Soviets, then "re"-kidnapped by the British and forced to betray the entire Soviet spy network in Britain. The film continues with this lonely man pursued by KGB agents hell bent on vengeance across Europe. Does anyone remember what the film was called?

  3. to elinorkrieger-Leslie Caron has been acting all along, just not in movies that get a lot of notice. She was even in an episode of "Love Boat" with her daughter in 1977. If you go to wikipedia.com and look her up, there's a filmography on her along with other info.

  4. I agree gwtwbooklover! I grew up watching Green Acres, and Eddie Albert made me laugh the most. His character was so put upon by everyone and everything around him. I think he played it perfect. The things he had to keep a straight face through! Only a great actor could pull that off. And thats what I'll remember him most for, although he did many great films also!

Rest in Peace Eddie Albert, and thank you.

  5. What do I think? Other then the fact that I'm bored by it, sorry war films have never really been a favorite of mine. There are very few that I like, I loved So Proudly We Hailed, and I wouldn't mind seeing a Guy Name Joe, which I have never seen but have heard allot about, but both these films were given some very early time slots in this marathon in favor of more notable films like Patton. But I guess in light of the fact that its Memorial Day this is a proper theme to have and I'm sure there are those who are enjoying it immensely. I for one am looking for other things to occupy my time and will be back to TCM next week after the marathon is over.

  9. Sadly the news reported Eddie Albert passed away this week at 99. Probably better known from Green Acres as many of you probably know.

The wierd thing is I just saw him in The Longest Yard last night. The orig. one...not the remake. and today I read in the news he passed away. So sad...

  11. Glad to see other people who appreciate Jose Ferrer.

My favorite movies of his are:

    Moulin Rouge

    The Great Man

    Cyrano de Bergerac

What was amazing too was that even though he was Puerto Rican, he was able to play all kinds of roles, from Frenchmen, to Arabs to Nazis(!).

  12. Thank you TCM...I was able to appreciate many of the old movies my mother used to love as a young woman back in the 1950's. It would be great if TCM d would feature them once in a while...perhaps a Mexican movie late at night each week!
