I'm looking for the title of a Lee Marvin movie- not sure it's him. He is the captain of a boat and it gets suck in. They have to wait for water to thaw so the can get the boat out. They spend time in the woods for a while. A guy gets attacked by I think a bear and left for dead. He survives, and sees an indian woman give birth in the woods with her husband. He makes it back to the boat and fights the people from the boat.

Dear Planet tang,
I feel the same way about La Perla and would also like to find a copy since I missed seeing it. If you find a source for the film, please let me know. I have tried Amazon.com and Ebay with no luck. I would be happy to trade for some of my movies.
Thanks,Cindy

Hi, I'm looking for the title of a western (1950 - 1960 timeframe), that starred Richard Widmark, and also had Nick Adams in it (as a teenager). Widmark plays the lead, is wanted by the law, but comes across a wagonload of children left for dead in indian territory. Widmark is savvy of the ways of the Indians, and takes up the task of leading the kids out of the indian territory. As he is wanted by the law, at the end of the movie, the indians attack, the cavalry shows up, and the cavalry wonder if Widmark is the "wanted man" they think he is. The kids stick up for Widmark, and tell them that he isn't the man they are searching for, and all ends well.
Anybody by chance know the title of this western? Thanks!

The movie "June Bride" features a music score by David Buttolph that contains a very familiar theme that I cannot quite place. I seem to associate the music with some old-time radio show theme but I'm not sure about that. Does anyone recognize this music theme?

Your right Sabrina....Marlon Brando is my favorite actor. I'm glad TCM is devoting Aug. 19th as "Marlon Brando Day" and will feature many of his movies including "Streetcar Named Desire"...I swoon over him everytime I see that picture. He was absolutely stunning in his younger days.
-
What is your favorite Marlon Brando movie? I loved these 10 Brando films best of all.....
1. Streetcar Named Desire - he was so captivating as Stanley Kowalski and should have won Best Actor. I never get tired of seeing this timeless classic and Brando was spectacular - and was the greatest and best looking actor I've ever seen in this film.
2. On the Waterfront - Brando as Terry Malloy - this performance was spectacular and is the best film I've ever seen. Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden, Rod Steiger and Eva Marie Saint rounded out a terrific cast.
3. Sayonara - I loved this film - it is hardly ever played, but it is a true gem.
4. Guys and Dolls - Brando and Sinatra musical. Brando looks like a hunk in this movie....he was amazingly stunning looking.
5. Young Lions - great film which has little airtime and didn't get the recognition it deserved.
6. The Men - Brando's first film - he was mesmorizing in this film.
7. One-Eyed Jacks - Great western with Karl Malden. This was Brando's only film he directed.
8. Mutiny on the Bounty - Brando was awesome and he looked so great in this film. It was much better than the original Mutiny on the Bounty in my opinion.
9. Julius Ceaser - Brando as Marc Antony.....his acting was awesome in this film - especially his "friends, Romans, countryman" speech....
10. The Godfather - great, classic film.
All in all...as you can tell....I love Brando - he was the greatest actor I've ever seen - and the best looking man to ever grace the silver screen. I'm glad TCM is devoting a day to show Marlon Brando films and will finally show "Streetcar Named Desire" and many other classic Brando films.

I have heard that James Dean's first movie "East of Eden" will be released on May 31st - as a single DVD or part of a James Dean set of his 3 movies - East of Eden, Giant and Rebel Without a Cause. I'm looking forward to seeing East of Eden. I hope TCM will finally show this gem. It would be a nice tribute since this is the 50th Anniversary of James Dean's death.

Stellaaaaaa!!!! - Marlon Brando from Sreetcar Named Desire.
"I could've had class, I could've been a contender, I could've been somebody instead of a bum which is what I am, let's face it....it was you charlie" - Marlon Brando - On the Waterfront.

Can TCM play Viva Zapata - it is a film about a Mexican Revolutionary???
-
The only actors of today that I would consider "great" are Tom Hanks, Sean Penn, Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino. The GREATEST actor of all time will always be MARLON BRANDO.

I'm trying to get an idea of what films will be included, release date, extras, etc? WB announced that they are doing one but didn't even give a release YEAR. I was thinking about picking up Bring Me The Head of Aldredo Garcia but not if it'll be available the set. And I wonder if Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid might finally get a DVD release through this set. Any info would be great!

Greetings...I would like to send a fan letter to Patty Andrews of the Andrews Sisters. Does anyone out there know where she can be contacted?

What movies will it include? Will it include Ride The High Country or Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid? Hopefully both of them, since I've been waiting so long for them to be released on DVD. Any idea on Special Features or Release Date? Any info would be great......

I agree with the other posters who are telling you that its probably a problem with your cable or satelite reception on the channel. Until about three months ago I had TCM on Channel 72 and it was terrible reception, I would get wavy lines, and interferrence, infact I wouldn't bother to watch at certain times of the day because it was so bad and I couldn't get it to come in. Fnally, my cable provider moved the TCM to Channel 42 during one of their channel retoolings and I haven't had a reception problem since then.

For the second time in one-month, I have tried to view "The Male Animal" and for the second time the broadcast was marred by apparent satellite transmission glitches. Today, May 16, as when I viewed on April 13, the telecast broke-up in the first 40 minutes. This problem occurs during more than half of the films I view on TCM. I am tired of having to tell TCM about this problem. If TCM was concerned about their viewers they would investigate these problems far more diligently and thoroughly than they presently do. I know that if I were a broadcaster and I found out that a cable company or other "middle-man" was fouling-up my product, I would be more than eager to discover and correct the problem.

I don't understand why some of you cannot comprehend. I said an entire day of musicals is too much. This does not mean in any way that I do not like music.

Maybe I'm losing it, but after "The Sting" on TCM this afternoon, I could have sworn Mankowitz said, "The '73 oscars will always be remembered because of the streaker who ran across the stage. Niven had said that this is the only taste of fame this guy will ever have, coming out here and showing his short comings..yet the streaker was none other than David Letterman. (?!!)
All the sites about this say it was a guy named Opel.
What gives? Anybody else hear this?

Who today will be added to the list of greats?

Hi All,
I agree with most of the names already mentioned but I would also like to add...
Russell Crowe -I find him very convincing. He draws me into the movie, Denzel Washington (in my book the top 10 of all time current actors)-some of his facial expressions are phenomenal. Like the way he shows utter contempt or hatred. Don Cheadle- I think he is such great, wonderful actor that's also underrated. I hope there will be more to come from him. Johnny Depp- I just love him =). If I had one vote it would probably be for Mr Denzel Washington.
Females-my votes would probably be for Charlize Theron or Cate Blanchett.
