Yes, I knew it had been shot in 3D. Does that mean I won't be able to find it in widescreen? It just seems that I've seen on TCM at some point in widescreen and would like to purchase it as well.
-
Can anyone tell me if Dial M for Murder was shot in CinemaScope, widescreen, etc., and if so, is it available on DVD anywhere? Every time I see it, it is in standard format. Thanks.

When 'The Sting' aired on the afternoon of Saturday, May 14th, the short informational piece that followed claimed that David Letterman was the streaker at the 1974 Academy Awards. I am certain that this is not true. Was this supposed to be a joke, or just very bad research?

Couldn't agree more with both statements

You know, I hadn't thought about that... what the unions and heck, the crew themselves might think about it! Selfish of me only thinking *I* don't get to read the credit... but *they* don't truly get the credit if no one sees it!! Hmm, where, indeed, is Norma Rae!
Good point ayresorchids!

cyberella1986:
How to handle it - I believe there is a way to ignore user membernames at imdb - click on the name of the member you wish to ignore; at their profile there is a place to enable ignoring that person.
If it's been brought to the attention of the site owners/operators and nothing appears to have been done about it then there is not much else you can do BUT to ignore it. (Fueling an offensive person's fire will not stop chaos. Unfortunately some people feed on that kind of thing. So don't respond to him or others like him.) The final option is not visiting the site anymore if it's truly that offensive.
That's just about how it is anywhere on the internet.

Hullo, all
Looking for the Conrad Veidt biography that airs occasionally between TCM movies. I don't watch enough of this channel to be able to catch it, but I need it desperately.
Any help appreciated.

Every once in a while TCM airs a brief biography of actor Conrad Veidt. It's never scheduled in the tv guide, they just show it when a movie ends with time to go.
I don't watch enough of TCM to be able to catch it when it airs. Is there anyone here who has this on VHS, or watches enough TCM so that they can, eventually, tape it for me?

I'm only 14 years old. I don't want some old pedophile stalking me. I wanted ideas on how to handle such a situation when the board administration won't do anything-on IMDb, this board or ANY board.
-
1,2,3........crunch..it takes three licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.... an Owl told me that

-
Anyone interested in verifying this can go to IMDb Classics and click on the thread, "albertpeckman and katy."
-
I have copied a message from Classic Movies IMDb to illustrate the kind of profanity tolerated by this 64 year old man. He has been reported several times for posting lewd messages to kids and for using profanity to others. The "Katy" he is refering to is 13 years old. IMDb Classics was wonderful before this albertpeckman showed up. Others using profanity have been banned. Why do they tolerate this degenerate? (I have bleeped out curse words, but albertpeckman spelled them out! Any other thoughts on this?
Copy of message:
I had just returned from a trip and was somewhat astonished to find this thread on IMDb. I have reviewed all the messages and I just have to ask some of you people, don't the following excerpts just have a BIT of resemblance to the rantings of someone deranged?
by - albertpeckman (Mon Mar 7 2005 08:23:22 )
would you spread her cheecks-and insert your tongue?
"god s a liar and a slanderer!
and that is what you are!!"
"yes-on rare occasions i have been rauncy=hy"
"and even the raunchy posts i have deleted"
"no one who spells favorite with a 'u; is a texan
and a 13 yr old girl-supposed 13 yr old girl "
"who spends hours at her computer-posting reams of messages about long dead stars has gone more problems than she knows"
katy is not 13
she is a poor pathological liar-probably ugly to the extreme-who has nothing better to do with her miserable life
"this is the last word i will ever post to you or anyone-especially katy=about a sick twisted creature "
"ps the kind of people who agreed with katy-probably agreed with bush that burning down someones country=-and **** social security-are the greatest remedies.
sick, stupid bastards-all of them"
"which katy is just a sick, dangerous liar "
"i was just shocked that a sick, lying bi*ch defamed as she did "
Of course they do. This person has given just cause to be banned from IMDb just for the profanity alone. I have children who read this board and I don't want them reading such curse words. Do you want your children to read such vile, profane rantings? I would certainly hope not.
The main point of contention seems to be; did albertpeckman use the IMDb board to post lewd messages to kids or not. The answer is; yes, he did. The messages were copied and reprinted. (see original message) It is futile for albertpeckman of anyone else to deny what is in black and white.
I am shocked and disappointed in those of you who defended this man.

and besides i feel that TCM should give the Osmonds a chance

Wow! I didn't realize there were some of us that actually think the Great Kate was overrated especially when it came to Oscars! I thought I was the only one who thought her 4 Oscars were a bit overkill. The only one I think that she warranted was for "A Lion in Winter." She deserved Oscars for other roles such as "Summertime" and "The African Queen" but I still couldn't envision her beating Vivien Leigh in "Streetcar." "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" you've got to be kidding, over Anne Bancroft "The Graduate" or Faye Dunaway "Bonnie & Clyde" their performances were much more exciting than that soap opera performance. And "On Golden Swamp!" neither deserved an Oscar for their performances. Henry deserved it for a zillion other roles.....and I can almost swallow the blantant Jane "I'll get you an Oscar, Dad" Fonda ploy, but to award one to Kate? And to make that pairing an Oscar trivia question about Actor/Actress sweeps, sad. I think Kate was a very good actress with a lot of screen roles that contributed to our thinking of what makes a great actor/actress....but 4 Oscars......and I'm not even considering "Morning Glory" we all know the rigging that went on in the early years of Oscar's history? They got the winners wrong more times than anyone can count. But the same can be said for any number of years and who can't name a performer who should have won over the actual winner...it's the reason these message boards were created!
-
BECAUSE I'D ENJOYED SEENING THATS WHY
-
I just left IMDb Classics because of the profanity.
Some 64 year old man who uses the name albertpeckman has ruined it for me. He has been posting lewd messages to kids and cursing one girl out- and nobody does anything about it even though he has been reported to the Administration. Any thoughts on this?

I recently bought the soundtrack CD and it contains the original movie soundtrack and the offtake tracks that Judy recorded before she was fired from the movie. I am a HUGE Judy fan, but frankly, this is not her best work. She seems tired and eratic in her musical performance. It is also reported that she simply could not work under Busby Berkley. In my opinion, Judy's style is more polished and sophisticated that Betty Hutton's. Probably no one would argue with that. For lack of a better word, I would describe Betty's musical performance as "athletic", which in my opinion is probably better suited for the part of Annie who is anything but polished and sophisticated.
