  1. I didn't find anything demeaning or belittling(sp) in the post. It gets a bit like high school around here sometimes, doesn't it? Sorry, I couldn't check spellcheck to work.
  2. I can understand that, but it still would have been nice to have seen the movie, good or bad print. Thanks for the update.
  3. I believe she was also in some movies with the Three Stooges, so it could possibly be from then.
  4. Somehow, I don't think this and the Dan Rather situation are quite the same. It's just like some people who post and don't know what they are talking about. We all do it at one time or another.
  5. I just saw Eleanor Parker on a rerun of Murder,She Wrote, and was wondering if anyone has read the bio of her by Doug McClelland?
  6. > I'm only 14 years old. I don't want some old > pedophile stalking me. I wanted ideas on how to > handle such a situation when the board administration > won't do anything-on IMDb, this board or ANY board. Did you try and contact TCM prior to registering to see what their views on such situations are. Possibly this may also help you decide, based on their answers if this a place where you would feel comfortable posting. Plus at age 14, hopefully you have made your parents aware of the forementioned situation. Possibly they can put some parental controls on the computer that may also help. I'm not that familar with them, so don't know if that is realistic or not.
  7. Then maybe you should contact TCM with your suggestion.
  8. What does this have to do w/TCM? If it bothers you so much, why do you repeat it for others to see? Possibly they have children who read this board and don't want them exposed to such things. Plus, only one person responded and did not defend a person using profanity. It seems mighty strange to me lately that there have been some new users that have been brining up things which have nothing to do w/TCM.
  9. Cry Havoc Three Came Home Gallipoli So Proudly We Hail Coming Home The Deer Hunter Stalag 17
  10. I think gwtwbooklover hit it right on the head. What we look back at today as clean movies, may have been quite racy in their day. Remember the hubbub with GWTW for "Frankly, my dear I don't give a ....(dont' want to offend). We today look at that as nothing, but back then it took fines, and approval to get that in the movie. So, should that not be shown on TV, or only after a certain hour? Most importantly people need to realize that if you start to ban something you don't like, eventually if will effect something you do like, and don't want to be banned. Certainly voice your opinion about it, but we need to be our own censors, and if you don't like something for whatever reason, don't watch or buy it.
  11. In addition to why, is their a particular reason you keep posting the same suggestion daily and in different forums?
  12. I'm not a George Lucas fan, so I obviously think there are others more worthy. But, I don't think many of those they have honored in the past 10-15 years are really that worthy. I don't know if it is true or not, but I have heard that they now require you to still be working to be eligible to recieve in addition to attending. The James Cagney tribute was the first I saw, and have it on tape. I still watch it and am just as thrilled as I was 30years ago. I can't imagine saying that for some of those honored lately.
  13. > - it is Ms. Hepburn who brought out the ONLY Oscar > winning performances in three of the great (Best) > actors of the golden age of cinema: James Stewart in > The Philadelphia Story (1940), Humphrey Bogart > in The African Queen (1951), and Henry Fonda > in On Golden Pond (1981) which is quite an > accomplishment. I'm a Katharine Hepburn fan, but she brought out the only Oscar winning performances! I didn't realize she wrote, directed, acted all other parts in these films. She's much more talented than I ever thought.
  14. Wouldn't a simple I agree with indianbear10 have sufficed?
  15. Please excuse my ignorance, but what are Osmond movies?
  16. TCM does a varity of different theme days to try to please everyone's different tastes. So, if you don't like, don't watch. But, don't try to ruin it for those who like musiclas.
  17. No particular order: Three Came Home Now, Voyager The Long Grey Line Gone With The Wind Orphans of the Storm Smilin' Through w/Norma Shearer Pride of the Yankees The Wizard of Oz Yankee Doodle Dandy Bringing Up Baby
  18. Why do people always feel the need to boost one star, while trying to put down another. Both Marion Davies and Jean Harlow were talented ladies. To say Jean Harlow never evolved, makes it seem like you no nothing about her career, as her talent came a long way in a short time. The biggest problem with Marion Davies career was Hearst himself. If he had let her shine in what she did best, and not pour all that money into her career, she may be better known today. Sorry, for the rant, but I don't understand why people can't say they like someone without knocking someone else. About Citizen Kane, it was years before I saw it, as I always liked Marion Davies and heard it basically treated her character horribly. I don't get what all the fuss was about. It was an OK movie, but a great one, not for me.
  19. Not everyone has had TCM available to them from day one. So, what is repeats to you, are new films to some of us.
  20. Mine would be Bringing Up Baby also. I first saw it when I was 13 or 14, and laughed myself silly. I was very surprised to later find out it was a box office flop when released.
  21. The only one of her movies I have seen is Lilac Time. Have seen some of her silents listed on ebay for sale on VHS. Not sure what condition. If your interested in her and get a chance there are copies of her autobiography out there.
  22. Now, after having posted that little rant, it does list me as kak not guest! Go figure. But will still be interested to see if I get a reply.
  23. I agree. I think their online customer service stinks! All I have ever gotten is acknowledgment that message has been received and will be replied to. Good thing I don't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Right now I'm waiting to see if I get a response as to why after logging in when I go to reply, I'm no longer Welcome, kak122760 but welcome, guest. More than likely I'll be welcome, guest for a long time. So, if any programmers do go through this section you may want to pass on the word that online customer service needs a lot of work! Thanks.
