Now, after having posted that little rant, it does list me as kak not guest! Go figure. But will still be interested to see if I get a reply.

I agree. I think their online customer service stinks! All I have ever gotten is acknowledgment that message has been received and will be replied to. Good thing I don't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
Right now I'm waiting to see if I get a response as to why after logging in when I go to reply, I'm no longer Welcome, kak122760 but welcome, guest.
More than likely I'll be welcome, guest for a long time.
So, if any programmers do go through this section you may want to pass on the word that online customer service needs a lot of work! Thanks.

I say good for Camilla. If they have been in love all these years, they deserve their happiness. You would think they were the first people ever to find themselves in this type of situation.
While being publicly trashed, Camilla kept her dignity by keeping her mouth shut. It's a shame all the other people involved couldn't do the same.
Hollyholt hit it on the head, by Diana being a beautiful princess. Would this whole situation be perceived the same way, if Camilla was seen as the beautiful one and not Diana?

There's a new book out about Doris Day by Garry McGee called Sentimental Journey. It states that she was awarded the medal in 2004, but did not attend due to her dislike of flying. According to the book, Doris has been offered the Kennedy Center honor several times but has declined due to the dislike of flying, and as a result her name has been removed from the list.
I think that is a shame, as if you want to honor someone for their contribution to the American culture, what difference does it matter whether they can/will attend or not? It does not make them any less deserving of the honor.
I guess Irene Dunne is lucky she actually was still given hers, as she flew to Washington with all intentions of being at the ceremony, but was hospitalized. She did attend the ceremony where they are actually given the award, and there are pictures of her with the other honorees.
The Kennedy Center probably felt at that point they couldn't withdraw the honor without making themselves look bad.

I saw it in the movies in early 82, and thoroughly enjoyed it. But, definitely agree with Izcutter, they should have identified the speakers.

Unfortunately, PBS in my area pre-empted it to show a documentary on the Pope. So, I guess I'll have to catch it on DVD

I'd like to add my belated birthday wishes to Doris Day. One of the all time greats.
Regarding the Academy Awards, I have heard that the Board of Govenors does not pay any attention to outside suggestions of who should receive an honorary award. It has to come from one of the BOG members.
If anyone knows different, I'll add my name to the give Doris her Oscar list.
Otherwise, I just wonder about them, as they don't seem to honor the women of the industry w/honaray awards like they do the men.

I taped them, but haven't seen them yet.
Will now be very interested in them, to see how I feel. The only thing I really know about him is the scandal that ended his career, and also feel that was a frame up.

I enjoy them immensely! The first ones I ever recall seeing where Orphans of the Storm w/Lillian and Dorothy Gish and Son of the Sheik w/Rudolph Valentino. They were shown on our local PBS station and I was hooked.
I think part of the reason they don't get there due, is the change in acting styles. When people who haven't seen silent films, think of them, they see the over exaggerated movements and expressions.
Also, with silent films you have to pay attention to what is going on. With sound films, you can step away for a few moments and still pretty much know what is going on. With silent films, you have to follow every step of the way. Quite the rewarding experience for those who chose to do so.

Thank you Mongo!
I always liked her, and although happy for her, was sad for us fans that she decided to retire.

Thanks. I was aware of that site, but actually didn't think to check to see if they had anything listed.
There is also findagrave.com, which like it sounds would be for those who have already died.

Hi Mongo,
Just wondering if you have any information on Jane Bryan, and what she may be up to today? Thank you for you help.

Thank you.

Not sure if this should be in this section, or information please.
I was just curious if anyone knows if Jane Bryan is still alive and what she may possibly be up to. I always enjoyed her work, especially the films she did with Bette Davis.

Thanks Stan "The Man". I'll be marking that on my calendar. Great price also!

I love this movie. Has anyone heard of any possible DVD release?

I think Cary Grant would have been more believable in Sabrina and Love in the Afternoon, than Humprhey Bogart and Gary Cooper.
We should count ourselves lucky that they made Charade together, as reportedly Cary Grant didn't want to do it, based on the age difference.

I think part of the reason people knock her and don't appreciate her is "She married the boss" and she didn't make that many films after Thalberg's death. Making people think she couldn't make it without him. What they seem to forget is her career did not begin with her marriage to Thalberg, and if she had listened to him, she never would have done The Divorcee, as he didn't think she was sexy enough. Odd, a husband not considering his wife sexy enough. But, she had the drive and ambition to have George Hurrell take the photos which convinced Thalberg she had what it takes.
I really like her in Shinin' Through and Escape, even though she doesn't have a big part in it.

I'm confused as to what the fuss seems to be about. The inductees are all classic and worthy stars. The ones currently listed are just as worthy. So, who's doing all the complaining?
Don't people realize anything that requires a group of people to vote is just the particular individuals preference. We all like/dislike different things. It's what makes the world go around.
The only time I get annoyed is when people feel the need to knock someone, in order to try and show how great someone else is. The greats don't need anyone else knocked to prove their greatness.

Thank you for your help. I checked and they don't have it listed under his name. Maybe one of these days they'll show it. Thanks again.

This film is listed as being shown on page 3 of April's Now Playing, but I can't find it actually listed in the schedule. Does anyone know if this is really being show in April, or how I could find out? Thank you.

I definitely agree, Eleanor Parker deserves to be star of the month. A very under appreciated actress. She was also great in Pride of the Marines with John Garfield

The only one of her movies I have seen is Lilac Time. Have seen some of her silents listed on ebay for sale on VHS. Not sure what condition.
If your interested in her and get a chance there are copies of her autobiography out there.
