Thanks Deborah!
I don't know how I missed it when it came out, but will still keep looking.
Hopefully the other two books will be published.

They're both great, but the winner is Bette Davis!

The Squaw Man (1913 or 14)?

Jean Harlow and Clark Gable. As a movie team, I think they just oozed sex with a great sense of humor, without showing any more skin that was allowed.

Hedy Lamarr and a young Errol Flynn

It's been a long time since I've seen this movie, so don't really remember if there is anything in it, that would be considered offensive today.
But, I think if it would be edited it would be a shame, as it is showing a particular time in our history (when the movie takes place, and when it was filmed). If we try to pretend that all was always well with the world, we'll never learn from our mistakes.

Robert Osborne's book on the Oscars lists her as a nominee. I have a book from the early 70's where she is not listed. When I went to the Academy's website and did a search under her name nothing came up.

I don't think the Academy has that rule, as Greta Garbo never showed up to receive hers and Mary Pickford's acceptance was on tape. So, hopefully. But, if the Kennedy Center has that type of rule, shame on them! But they can think of Maureen O'Hara or Olivia de Havilland.

Has anyone read the biography of Joel McCrea by Tony Thomas? Sorry, I can't think of the title off the top of my head. I've been looking for a copy, and it's hard to find.

I know this is an old thread, but had not heard this news before. Very glad to hear of it.
Maybe this year I'll be glad to hear of her being honored by the Kennedy Center. Hope she will take the train.
L.A. is not that far from Carmel, so what is the Academy Awards waiting for? She is long overdue for the Oscar.
Seems they award the men more than the ladies

I would like to see Jennifer Jones and Doris Day. But, both seem to lead very private lives. Maybe, one day.

Thanks Deborah.
I'm going to keep looking, and when I find a copy ( and I know I will, sooner or later), it sounds like it will be well worth the wait.
