Jen, It might be worth taking a couple of posters' suggestions and letting us know the make and model of your new tv. As they have pointed out, you should have access via your remote to change the picture size. If we know the make and model of your new tv, we might be able to help you choose the right size for wide-screen movies on TCM. Just a thought.

*Did many people really wear true cocktail attire (& dressier) last year, i.e. as the term is defined when used on invites to indicate the degree of dress for an event, rather than what people typically wear to cocktail parties these days?* Paging our social stylist, SueSueApplegate! Paging SueSue!!!!

*This was one program I wanted to catch, but why, oh why did they have to schedule it at the same time as the welcome party? Would need to leave the party after just getting there in order to queue up for the show* Jezzy, Those going to the Gala screening of *American in Paris* have the same problem. Last year, the official TCM Meet and Greet party began clearing out by 5:30 as passholders, TCM Staff and many who just wanted to witness the red carpet left to go across the street to the Chinese. That doesn't mean that we can't return to Club TCM after the *Laugh-O-grams* and continue the party. I suspect that many at the *grams* may be up for that. Any chance you can join us at In-N-Out? That will be another way to connect with people at the Festival as well. No reason to miss the *grams*, we can continue the party after the screening!

Wild West Announcement - what music?
lzcutter replied to cees.rijken's topic in Information, Please!
*Looking at the info about and comments by the person who posted this on YouTube I'm concluding that this is not for American TCM, but for one of the European TCM's.* There's a TCMEurope bug in the lower left hand corner towards the end of the montage. -
*Yes it is hard to imagine that the Powers to Be at TCM cannot ( or Will Not ) fix the SUGGEST A MOVIE link! Its been many months now More than enough time to resolve this problem - Yes even I am having Suggest A Movie Withdrawals and I can only hope that they restore this site and soon....* It has only been gone for a month and a half and the Moderators say it is being redesigned and will return in May (which is two weeks away).

Kyle In Hollywood's CENSORED Poster Gallery

Randolf Scott??? Somehow (cue chorus) just doesn't seem to fit with that one! -
I found out earlier today that the uncut version of *Puss In Boots* will screen with the homage to Rudy Valentino, or as he is called in this *Laugh-O-gram*, Rudy Vaselino. If you haven't seen the uncut version of *Boots* or any of the *grams*, you are in for a treat! Should be fun! Edited by: lzcutter for more info

*LoveFilmNoir -You are so right-right on!* Sheri, LFN was actually talking about the Fox Movie Channel repeating movies frequently throughout the month, not TCM. LFN seems to be very happy with the July schedule, especially the film noir selections.

*this is a very important part of watching the older movies.please tell the higher ups to bring it back.tell them how valuable it is to we movie watchers of tcm* According to the Moderators, *Suggest a Movie* is being retooled and will return in May.

presented by The Walt Disney Family Museum and the Museum of Modern Art Disney author and historian, JB Kaufman will be introducing Walt Disney's earliest known animated cartoons the *Laugh-O-grams* (including the recently discovered and restored "lost" ones) next Thursday evening at 6:00 pm in the Chinese Multiplex #4 theater. As part of our participation in the Festival, the Walt Disney Family Museum asked JB to write a short article for our blog, Storyboard on the *grams* and why he is so excited to have this wonderful opportunity: http://wdfmuseum.squarespace.com/posts/2011/4/18/on-the-big-screen-the-laugh-o-grams.html The *Laugh-O-grams* screen again on the last day of the Festival, Sunday late afternoon at 5:45 as well. Pianist Ben Model will provide the live music! We hope to see you there!

Barb, I wanted to let you know that the young boy in the red pants in *Towering Inferno* was Bobby Brady himself, Mike Lookingland. Hope you can catch this on cable soon! -

*But I guess I'll be at the O'Toole taping alone that afternoon. I'll try to take notes.* Thanks, Chief! Love the *Silly Symphonies* posters as well. That's another screening MrC and I will be at but kleenex won't be needed there. -

Chief, A million thanks not only for the French poster of *Mockingbird* but that beautiful photo of Mary Badham. This is the must-see for me at the Film Festival and MrCutter is getting the extra reserve of Kleenex that he already knows he will need to hand to me throughout the screening. Thank you again! -
*So, anybody catch Ball of Fire last night? So sweet and engaging, this is one of those classic comedies that is still funny today.* *And surely nobody can complain about Alec's remarks on this one. His comments about both Cooper and Stanwyck were spot on, I thought.* MsW, I totally concur! *Ball of Fire* was terrific. The entire scene with the seven 'dwarfs' being held hostage by Dan Duryea is hysterical and the way they figure out how to get out of that mess! And Alec had some great comments about Stanwyck and Coop. Seems he is major Stanwyck fan as is Robert O. I'm enjoying *The Essentials* with the two of them!

Loving Saturday @ Noon with Tarzan!!!

*#1 was good. #2 was better, especially Jane's costumes. #3 was boring, especially Jane's costumes* Well, the Production Code made the changes in Jane's costume necessary. I thought *Tarzan Escapes* was a lot of fun. Given how upset Tarzan was at the thought that Jane had left him, I can't imagine the pain he would have gone through if Jane had died as planned in the original version. Besides, if Jane had died, there would be no *Tarzan's New York Adventure* and that would have been a pity. *I have little or no interest in the ape man.* It's okay, I have enough interest in him for both of us. *Any character named Nick in the cast? If so, he's probably a bartender.* The lovable bartender was named Carlos (because Irwin Allen believes in diversity as long as it's not the leading roles) but he was killed by falling statuary. It's Irwin Allen after all. One thing's for sure, Newman was aging better than McQueen even back then. -

Barb, I've lost count of how many explosions have occurred that took out entire floors of the 138 floor building. I stopped counting at 12. Speaking of WATER, McQueen has just been told he is the only one qualified to go up on the roof and explode the two giant water tanks. He looks like he would rather suck lemons. Oh, and it's a one-way trip they tell him. He isn't expected to come back. He looks ****. -

Jennifer Jones just fell out of the elevator. So many other deserving characters that should have taken her place. The mayor's wife who is dressed in what looks like a long pink negligee, the kid in the red pants, the two young ladies who rushed the helicopter when it tried to land on the heliport and caused it to crash. And the chairlift from one building to another, in high winds and exploding windows, LOL! And finally McQueen gets to do something besides bark orders and look dramatically concerned. -

McQueen to his firemen, "Watch those electrics" as ceiling tiles fall into the frame. Faye Dunaway in a dress that pre-dates J-Lo's Grammy dress. I have no idea how Jennifer Jones did it, but she managed to look incredibly dignified while climbing down a pipe. "I can't do it, I know I'll fall." says the young fireman to McQueen. "Then you go first so when you do you won't take us with you." McQueen replies. Never let Steve see you sweat. -

The AFI database also says that Wild Bill was one of the directors. I wish I had his autobiography handy but alas, I don't. I wonder if any of the original version of *Tarzan Escapes* still exists?
