[Who had the best figure in movies?]

Funny comment about Doris Day: Bob Hope called her "Jut Butt", and said that she had "an *ss you could play cards on". LOL!

 

Jean Harlow did indeed have an amazing figure, as I found out from those B&W photos by that famous photographer ("Hurrell?").

Well, the African Queen is probably the most famous (and best) movie not on DVD.

 

Enchanted April is another that should receive a DVD release.

 

My Mom is eager to see Interlude (1968) once again, and that's not on DVD either.

The details might be defferent, but it reminds me of the fight scene between Ginger Rogers and a brunette in "Vivacious Lady". Very funny!

There's no doubt whatsoever that the voices and music are at a higher pitch in the recent TCM broadcasts of Singin' in the Rain. I'm not asking whether or not it's happening, I'm asking why.

 

I have a VHS tape on which I record my favorite musical numbers, one after another. I recorded the "All I do is Dream of You" and "Singin' in the Rain" numbers from the recent 1/23/05 broadcast. I then compared the sound to a 4-year-old TCM tape of Singin'. The difference is immediately obvious. This didn't surprise me, since all 4 of the most recent "Singin'" broadcasts I've seen have had the same problem.

 

Apparently, the same problem has afflicted the recent 2-disc "a Room with a View". The voices and music are a semi-tone too high.

 

A few people to whom I sent an e-mail about the upcoming broadcast of "Singin'" told me they had to turn off the movie because it was "annoying".

 

Since Singin' in the Rain is one of the top 10 films in TCM's library, I hope the problem is corrected. You're running a bad print lately.

I've seen the film on TCM recently 3 times. Each time, I noticed that the actor's speaking voices were obviously far too high-pitched.

 

To make sure there was a problem , I pulled out an old VHS tape of Singin' in the Rain that I taped off of TCM 4 years ago. There's no doubt about it. The voices on the old tape were clearly lower, and sounded normal. The recent version sounds like everyone inhaled helium before each take.

 

This is a serious problem that I hope you'll fix.
