  1. Was it a sign of things to come that Gort was played by Lock Martin, born J. Lockard Martin, and eventually two defense companies would merge to form Lockheed-Martin? Do do do do ...
  2. Now if only Joseph Wiseman had been in the cast ... but NO
  3. We should also note that the director was a WISE man.
  4. So who's Gort? John the Baptist?
  5. Yes, it is astounding how they were able to do that. The Zuni seemed pretty good at that too.
  6. OP, do you mean Chaco Canyon and the Anasazi Sun Dagger? My girlfriend has visited there ... she was bowled over. I've done some reading on it, and have the PBS show with Redford narrating. Unfortunately, my book only skims the surface of astronomy, as that topic has been done quite well by others.
  7. >Any number can be squared, so it's self-evident that every number has a corresponding whole-number square. Well, not exactly, unless "every number" means whole number to you. Not every "number" has a corresponding whole-number square - 0.5, for instance.
  8. No, I don't need to see your card, but if you are Native American, I'd be curious what tribe/nation. I am writing on book on how American Indians did mathematics.
  9. Yes, I remember IT. I saw IT in the movies. IT wasn't so bad, and Roddy McDowell was pretty good, I believe the girl was Jill Haworth. I think IT ends up swallowing the scroll. Here's some of IT:
  10. This is probably it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052805/
  11. >You mean the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Ah, yes. I remember it well. Me too. It appears on page 169 of the book I am writing.
  12. >Actually, I do hate arguing, and I'm not all that good at it. Thanks for letting me "off the hook". No, thank you. The last thing I would do is pick a fight with a Marine!
  13. This would be a good candidate for the Photo Trivia thread in the *Trivia* forum.
  14. You're welcome. You can adjust the photo size as well. After you've inserted the url for the photo (but before you've closed the line with >), you can leave a space and type height=X width=Y>, where X and Y are the desired height and width. You may have to play around a little before you find some decent values of X and Y, but you can use the proportions of your original picture as a guide. I think the proportions of the photo are around 1500 long and 1200 wide. This is what it would look like at a height of 400, and width 500. Probably too small. Great photo by the way. 16. Ed, try here for some tips: http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?threadID=123944&tstart=15
  17. >Then again, that doesn't mean we don't need border control........ Which brings us full circle ... was The Thing an illegal alien? I'll let you all ponder this (for all of five seconds) while I hit the hay. Adios, amigos.
  18. Did you know that the first mathematics book used in the New World was written in Spanish? I believe three copies are still known to exist. I have a facsimile.
  19. Thanks, but there are younger people that read the boards, so I want to look out for them.

  21. He ran into a monster on Maple Street.
