  1. h3. Attention everyone, please read the original post to avoid being "punked."
  2. Is this the one with Lewis Stone?
  3. I'm not sure what a "Gothic Horror" guy is. I just don't rent videos much these days, since I spend so much time recording from TCM. I do respect your opinion, however, so I will consider it.
  4. Welcome to the boards. Sounds like The Big Sky, with Kirk Douglas. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044419/
  5. >I only wish they'd look at remaking this classic. I hope not. It's a good film. I would hate to think what modern Hollywood would do to it ... probably cast some young "stars" and load it up with the demon ripping them to shreds.
  6. The film was "Return of Dracula." It's been shown on TCM. http://www.horror-wood.com/rod.htm Lederer had a fairly long acting career, beginning in the late 1920s. Which reminds me. TCM is showing Count Yorga, Vampire this month.
  7. I think we have to endure one more month of this torture. Personally, I'll take waterboarding.
  8. Good point about Lederer. We discussed him in another thread as well. He certainly had the look and the accent. Now that I think about it, he never showed any fangs, did he?
  9. So let's see ... it is now May, and we're still posting films that were shown in March and April. Makes perfect sense to me, especially if we can all hop into Rod Taylor's time machine.
  10. Just curious what got cut out for the US version ...
  11. How is it that this woman did not receive a single vote?
  12. I guess we should include William Marshall as the best "minority" Dracula.
  13. Hmmm .. for some reason I forgot Franciosa was in that film.
  14. You left out Christopher Lee, unless you specifically meant films entitled "Dracula." I think Lee was closest to the Bram Stoker character, a mix of sexiness and repulsiveness as well. If we are restricting ourselves to "Dracula" titles, I pick Lugosi. He just seemed made for that part. I haven't seen Oldman's version, but I've seen the others you mentioned. Of courses, there is also Nosferatu, which some might prefer as well.
  15. Niall MacGinnis is excellent as Karswell. I recall the scene where he is dressed as a clown, entertaining children at his estate. All the kids seem so happy. Then along comes Dana Andrews, and Karswell conjures up a storm. Creepy. Does the 95 minute British version still exist?
  16. Yes, I would love to hear a bad joke.
  17. *The Adventures of Robin Hood*. It's fun, fast, in color, has great stars in the leads and supporting roles, wonderful music ... and its message of fighting oppression is still relevant today.
  18. Right, I forgot about *The Right Stuff*. I never even thought about this piece being done on an organ before, until I heard it played on the pipe organ in the Mormon Tabernacle a few weeks ago. Quite impressive.
  19. A few photos of Elizabeth Taylor as Lygia here: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1229821952/tt0043949
  20. I'd like to know why most of the Romans have British accents.
  21. It is the remake of The Lodger. Nice job.
  22. Several of Tiomkin's themes have entered popular culture. Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, Thee I Sing, The Green Leaves of Summer ...
  23. Cobb, Lee. J. He steals the movie in Twelve Angry Men. Also great as John Friendly in On The Waterfront.
