You can watch it here if you can't wait for TCM: http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/fog_island.php

*I like the concept of ?The English Speaking Union.?* Sounds scary to me.

They also played opposite each other in Fog Island.

I was just too lazy to look up her name in the credits again. What this film needed was a group of protesters trying to disrupt the construction because it would ruin the environment.

Why did it take so long for that other woman to figure out that Madge Evans was blind? Long enough to make for a very emotional moment in the film. But Evans clearly was not even looking at the woman. Was the other woman that dense? Well, maybe she had tunnel vision. Message was edited by: scsu1975

It's been on TCM a few times. I remember watching it as a kid as well. William Schallert (with a beard) plays a devious scientist.

There is a thread beginning in the *Science Fiction* forum about it. I thought it was interesting, but the acting left much to be desired. Richard Dix seems to play the same character every time I see him. Leslie Banks has weird hair. Why did it take so long for that other woman to figure out that Madge Evans was blind? The effects were pretty good, especially at the end when Dix and Banks were in that machine traveling through the fiery tunnel. The "viewscreens" were pretty good too.

Sing As We Go is the correct title.

Did anyone see this? It was the last movie in the Tuesday night "shrinkfest" lineup. Paul Henreid stars as a progressive psychiatrist at a girls' "correction institution." Naturally, the place is run by a scumball superintendent and matron, played by Cecil Clovelly and Grace Coppin respectively (yeah, I never heard of them either, and with good reason - each only made a few films, and it's easy to see why). Clovelly looks like Darryl F. Zanuck, while Coppin looks like Jackie Coogan in drag. This film "introduces" Anne Francis, Anne Jackson, and Rita Moreno (billed as Rosita Moreno) as delinquents. Francis had already appeared in a bit in Portrait of Jennie, so technically this was not her first film appearance. Moreno is the least recognizable of all; she looks like a young Rachel Ticotin. However, she does have the meatiest part, playing the film's most tragic figure. The most bizarre look-alike award has to go to Catherine McLeod, as Henreid's love interest. In the early scenes, playing a somewhat repressed woman, she looks remarkably like Preston Foster. She does get better looking as the film progresses. There are a few jarring scenes in this movie, which are quite effective. However, the dubbing and editing are not first-rate, for sure. Still, it is worth a look if TCM shows it again, if only to see the three young actresses beginning their film careers.
