I think I've seen 3 versions as well.
-
Wasn't Morris in a version of The Three Godfathers? I think that film was made about 247 times.
-
Well, I suppose we can start an "Evil Chester Morris" thread.
-
It's very underrated. I saw it years ago on TV, then just recently at that website. It's difficult to read the credits, but the rest of the film is in pretty good shape.
-
That's a possibility. I think they also used the theme music (what little there was) from Trader Horn in Tarzan movies.
-
You can watch it for free here in case you can't wait: http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/horror_hotel.php

Actually, I was stuck on the second clue, but once I got the third one, I guessed number 2 was Nina Foch and checked her bio. Since I am not ready, I'll try to come up with a film tomorrow. If anyone else wants to jump in, they can.

That's an interesting list, Thelma. We can toss in Roman Polanski as well ... famous film director, loved by Hollywood, and still "on the lam" from charges in the United States.

We should talk like this more often .. takes less nrg.

How did Edwina Booth manage to keep that outfit on? She was a very pretty lady, and the film finally picked up once she appeared. Her facial expressions at the outset, though, reminded me of "Fay Wray sees King Kong." Was C. Aubrey Smith paid a dollar for his appearance? Fred, can you explain why some scenes are in "fast motion," while others aren't? I notice this in so many movies of the early 30s .. like watching a silent film at times, the way they used to be shown on tv long ago.

Actually, it's Pep? Le Pew, that little stinker.

Watching Trader Horn now. I see what was meant about the size of Renaldo's pith helmet. Also, why is he wearing a white tie all the time? Was that standard jungle garb back then? So, I learned a giraffe has no vocal cords (unless Harry Carey was making that up). Some of the background noise drowns out the dialogue.

No, John Wilkes Booth was on stage. By the way, the Robeson version is playing next month on TCM.
-
*I love King Solomon's Mines too. I saw it when it first hit the theaters.* The Paul Robeson version?

Is this the "look"? -
I'll have to watch for that ... must be the one with the eyebrows.
-
I'll let you know when I watch the tape tomorrow. Did Joan Crawford have a cameo role in it?
-
Oh my gosh, I think I have a jigsaw puzzle from this show!
-
I'm taping it.

Refer to my post at 12:39 p.m. eastern time. I win. B-)

Oh my God .. that's now Lowe ... it's ... it's ... Joan Crawford!!!
-
Yes, it's Lowe. I didn't know there was a 1947 version, but I think there was an earlier version than 1937.
