Gentlemen Are Born ... not sure of the unidentified actors. The actor at upper right could be Ross Alexander. The blonde could be Jean Muir.
-
I will wing this one. Clue 1: A doctor is murdered.
-
No,I don't think that's Donald Woods.
-
The blonde looks a little bit like Dorothy McGuire.

My error, the time for The New People should have been 8:15 - 9:00, preceded by The Music Scene from 7:30 - 8:15. http://www.tvobscurities.com/articles/new_people.php
-
OK, it has to be The Last Command

I don't think that's Montgomery in upper right.

CineSage, can you tell us your source? The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network TV Shows has The Young Rebels on Sunday nights from 7-8, beginning September 1970. New People was Monday nights from 8:15 - 9:30, right after Music Scene, which ran from 7-8:15, starting September 1969.

Welcome to the boards, Terry, There was a show on ABC in 1970 called The Young Rebels, broadcast on Sunday nights from 7-8. It was set during the American Revolution, and was about four young men who harassed the British and spied on them. There was also a 20-year old French character called General Lafayette. Could that be the series?

Isn't Troy Donahue in this?

Why is there an arrow sticking out of his shorts?

Correct! Your move.

OK. In his last film appearance, this comedian portrayed Sir Isaac Newton. Who was he?

*It's really about a man whose thirst for vengeance begins to turn him into the very thing he was determined to destroy. As Esther tells him, "Hatred is turning you to stone. It's as though you had become Messala!"* Despite the dialogue, that doesn't quite ring true. Messala was motivated by ambition, not hatred of Judah. He used Judah's family as a means to achieve his objective of having the Judeans "fear" him. Judah was motivated by hatred of Messala. Ambition turned Messala to stone; hatred turned Judah to stone. So perhaps the end result was the same; I would agree with that.

Correct! Here is the scene from which the still was probably taken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3CNw0IYxK8

Violet, you are correct on the woman.

I got the actors and the movie. I'll give someone else a chance.

Gone With The Wind is an entertaining soap opera, centered around a woman's obsession with another man. She never gets him, loses the man who really loves her, and in the final analysis, learns nothing. Ben-Hur is the story of a man driven by revenge. When he finally achieves that revenge, it is a hollow victory, because he is still filled with hatred. Only after listening to the words of Christ does he finally let go of his hatred. He learns and can move on. I take Ben-Hur over Gone With The Wind every time.
