what are some films with good levitation scenes?
scsu1975 replied to JepMasta's topic in General Discussions
Welcome to the boards, Brian. I think there is a levitation scene in THE FURY, starring Kirk Douglas. Haven't seen it in a long time, but pretty sure Andrew Stevens uses his "powers" to levitate someone ... with nasty results. -
Glad that regular programming is back!!!

Welcome gardenmartha. Hopefully, you will enjoy tonight's lineup on TCM ... I am planning on recording every movie beginning at 8 eastern, until they end around 5:30 in the morning ... haven't seen any of these, and, good or bad, I am anxious to see them. -
I will take a shot at CITIZEN KANE.

Speaking of tall, I saw Vincent Price in a one-man play doing Oscar Wilde .. I was two rows from the stage ... man, was HE tall ... and a great performer.

Yup, so now we have all the names.

Yes, and Elisha Cook Jr. in center. I also know the actor at right, and thus the film. I will let someone else guess

Chan Is Missing (1982) - On IFC
scsu1975 replied to Metropolisforever's topic in General Discussions
Why should I watch this? It's just a couple of Asian guys yammering for 80 minutes. No stars. No breathtaking scenery. It's even in black & white, for Pete's sake! But using the rudiments of filmmaking technology, ace director Wayne Wang bursts the myth of San Francisco's Chinatown as a mysterious, unknowable "foreign" territory. This is a story of American characters dealing with dilemmas specific to the Asian community. Its insider's look at Asian American culture remains a breakthrough for Asian American fictional cinema. Yes, it's a mystery, but don't expect Charlie Chan. He's missing, too. http://www.manaa.org/VideoGuide.html Ho hum, some people NEVER learn. -
Nice job, Metry. Would you care to explain how you got it?

It's good, although I could have done without some of the gore .. like seeing the creature pop out of John Hurt's stomach. I think Aliens was better, and really established Ripley as a toughie. "Get away from her, you b****!"

Jake, the object is to identify the movie and person giving the quote, and the correct guesser gets to post the next quote.

It was something like "gimme a drink," from Anna Christie.

I bet he was fun. He was great as Eliza's dad in "My Fair Lady."

Not until we're sure you're correct (although you probably are).

Yes, Carradine was in a ton of movies. I expect we'll see a complete list of his films any minute now. I saw the English actor Clive Revill. I was having a soda in a restaurant near the Schubert Theater in New Haven, and he walked in to order something ... I had seen him in "My Fair Lady" earlier that night at the theater.

Ken, you are right, of course. And honestly, all night I have been laughing hysterically at this, even while I was in the middle of it.

Kyle: No need to hit those forums ... wait long enough, and all that info will magically appear in a post.

CM, sorry you weren't here earlier ... we could have used you for referee. All the really good stuff got deleted.
-
Ava, you are very welcome here. Sometimes threads get out of control ... nothing to worry about. Rich

Oh, now you're torturing me

Looks like the guy was sitting in snow. How did you guess the Brooklyn Bridge?
