I checked e-bay a few times just to see if anyone was selling any of these ... I don't recall seeing any exorbitant prices being asked. Maybe I should start a thread about movie trading cards B-)
-
I have some from the 40s, which I must have gotten from relatives ... sets of Hopalong Cassidy cards for instance. I posted a few in the *Western Forum* awhile back under "Western Gallery." I have some Davy Crockett cards, Ben Casey, Dr, Kildare, and loads of Batman cards. I'm sure I must have bought the cards from the last three on that list.

I'm not really a collector, I just kept a lot of stuff from when I was a kid. I think most of these Western cards are from 1958, which makes me think perhaps my older brother bought them (he was 7, I was 4). I think Topps Chewing Gum manufactured them. I have cards from Trackdown, Union Pacific, Wanted Dead or Alive, Gunsmoke, The Restless Gun, Yancy Derringer, and a few others.

Thanks, Film Fatale. I have a collection of trading cards from several western series of the late 1950s.

What a great charactor actor, always enjoyed his work. The first time I saw him was in the A & C flick It Ain't Hay. He plays a character named Warner. At one point in the film, he knocks on the door and Abbott says "It's Warner." Costello says "Tell him we're signed with Universal."

Is there a cut-rate version of this with Sammy Petrillo?

Did the little clue that I kept in the photo help? I thought about cropping it.

I think The Alligator People took place in Louisiana.
Doesn't Live and Let Die have a scene in New Orleans?

Although that's not the subject of this movie, you have actually provided a clue as to why this movie at one time was thought to be lost.

I noticed that glitch too ... looked more like a bad edit, or simply a problem with the film. Without giving the ending away, let's just say it probably "fit the code."

Did anyone watch The Strange Woman?
No spoilers below.
This movie approaches camp at times, but it managed to keep me interested. The setting is Bangor, Maine, 1800s. We first see Ms. Lamarr's character, Jenny, as a young girl with an American accent. As she grow to womanhood, she acquires her Austrian accent. Her father is played by Dennis Hoey, with his very British accent. After fleeing from her father's abuse, the town Reverend (Moroni Olsen) marries Jenny off ?to Gene Lockhart! Lockhart's son, played by Louis Hayward, was a childhood friend of Jenny, and Jenny is now his stepmother ?well, you can imagine where this leads. Enter George Sanders, who has a thing for Hillary Brooke ?until Jenny starts eyeballing him. Look for the scene where lightning strikes the tree ?pure lust.
The Strange Men may have been a better title, since all the male characters seem ignorant of what is going on. Still, this is worth a look, and will be playing again on March 25.

I've seen this one. Hayakawa gives a nice performance as a "sympathic" Japanese commander. His scenes with Colbert are very good.

You are correct. There are various titles for the movie. Nils Asther plays a Martian, I believe.

Nope, there is no rule. I just figured it was better to revive an old thread, but that's just my opinion.

Jay:
There are a lot of Natalie Wood photos in this thread:
Maybe you can add to it.

I guess a clue is in order. Nils Asther was in this movie.

You must be a Red Sox fan ... LOL

I have the 75th Anniversary DVD of the Three Stooges, containing some episodes, cartoons, and something they did in color called "Kooks Tour," in 1970, which I still haven't watched. Apparently it was like a very long home movie that they considered releasing.
