Is it Ash (Ian Holm) from Alien?
-
*It's really about a man whose thirst for vengeance begins to turn him into the very thing he was determined to destroy. As Esther tells him, "Hatred is turning you to stone. It's as though you had become Messala!"*
Despite the dialogue, that doesn't quite ring true. Messala was motivated by ambition, not hatred of Judah. He used Judah's family as a means to achieve his objective of having the Judeans "fear" him. Judah was motivated by hatred of Messala. Ambition turned Messala to stone; hatred turned Judah to stone. So perhaps the end result was the same; I would agree with that.

Correct! Here is the scene from which the still was probably taken:
-
Violet, you are correct on the woman.
-
I got the actors and the movie. I'll give someone else a chance.

Gone With The Wind is an entertaining soap opera, centered around a woman's obsession with another man. She never gets him, loses the man who really loves her, and in the final analysis, learns nothing.
Ben-Hur is the story of a man driven by revenge. When he finally achieves that revenge, it is a hollow victory, because he is still filled with hatred. Only after listening to the words of Christ does he finally let go of his hatred. He learns and can move on.
I take Ben-Hur over Gone With The Wind every time.

*But if truth be told, my heart belongs to the Italians*
Now you're talking. Here's a movie I have not seen in over 40 years:
-
Well, one site says she played her role like her lip was paralyzed.
-
Like Stallone?
-
Nah ... just persistent
-
I think you just did

-
Holy crap, I've never even seen any of her films. I took a wild stab, then found a youtube of her with Gary Cooper (I assume it's "Peter Ibbetson") and saw a little bump on her nose, so I gave it a shot.
-
Heck, I'll just guess Ann Harding.
-
I don't know if I'd classify this as a film noir ... more of a mystery, with a surprise ending.
-
That reminds me, I got rid of my two leisure suits and my bright blue disco shirt.
-
I may not know her at all. Do you want to leave it up so someone else can guess?
-
This photo of her looks more familiar to me, but I haven't placed her yet:

-
There were several other photos before and after her on the strip ... same person?
-
No, you think you're Dobbs ... heh heh
Hey, I saw some great shots in those strips of Lionel Atwill as Napoleon.
-
She is not identified on the strip. Do you know who she is?
-
The "hair-down secretary" bit is spoofed in That Touch of Mink. Gig Young asks a secretary to do it, without improvement, and he says "funny, it always seems to work in the movies."
-
I can't even watch Butch Cassidy ... once was enough, with that lousy Burt Bacharach "score." I enjoy his songs, but not his movie scoring.

OK. In his last film appearance, this comedian portrayed Sir Isaac Newton. Who was he?
