Yeah, we had WISE chips too, with the owl on the bag ... think we switched to Lays after that. Wasn't there also a Wachusett chips, something like that?
-
Di, I remember Charles Chips .. wonder if they still make them.
-
Heh heh .. it's a box, that's the way they sold 'em back in the 60s. I keep some of my old trading cards in there now.
-
You realize this could go on all night

From my cellar (but does not contain any chips):

I wonder if this guy ever amounted to anything:
-
Didn't Nat King Cole record that song?
-
BG, unfortunately Morris is not in Red Planet Mars.

*For pi day TCM should run TORN CURTAIN.*
Actually, they should run Red Planet Mars, in which pi is defined incorrectly.

Yes, I remember that clip well. Now if you can find the one of the woman with the nut collection ...
By the way, March 14 is also "pi" day .. a different kind of snack

No, but I will use your answer for the next clue.
Clue 4: This actor's last name is similar to the last name of your guess.
-
Loved him in his yellow suit in Coffy

If I remember correctly, those old news clips were those typical silent clips where everybody seems to be moving at light speed. I know this speed discussion went on in other threads, so don't feel you have to elaborate on it. Lionel made a terrific Rasputin.
-
Yes, it was on last month. All the Barrymores were quite good in it, particularly Lionel. The print was decent too. Apparently, the "alleged" assassin of Rasputin sued the filmmakers.
-
No, sorry.
Clue 3: Same last name as the actor who played Amos Burke.
-
RUN FOR THE SUN
-
Heh heh ... no.
Clue 2: This actor's last name is the same as a famous Air Force base.
-
I prefer Dick Powell as Philip Marlowe ...I think he is closer to the character Chandler envisioned.
-
Yes, you are correct.

I've read the novel, along with other Raymond Chandler works. I think there is some point in the story where even Chandler can't explain who murdered someone. I think the best part of this film is Bogey going into the bookstore, and sparring with Dorothy Malone.

Di, you know, this thread is way too polite ... how refreshing.
Personally, I think TCM should stop showing new chips and stick to old chips ... heh heh
