  1. I am hoping for I WAS A TEENAGE MONSTER one of these days so I can see Robert H. Harris going ballistic.
  2. Well, Bronxgirl, your review is pretty much on target. I'll add that Richard Eyer's character was annoying, and so was his voice ... and he needed to lose that hat too. He deserved to be spanked for sneaking around his parents' room while invisible. Oh, and he should spend more time learning fractions (this coming from a mathematics professor). When Robert H. Harris entered the proceedings, I was hoping for some over the top villainy on his part, but no suck luck. Philip Abbott appeared to be the only one who was not sleep walking through his part.
  3. How about 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH? In the climax, the monster is shot by a bazooka as it stands atop the Roman Coliseum. While it's from Venus, it does have some dinosaur-like qualities.
  4. I taped it and will be watching it later. I'm sure I'll have something to say about it
  5. It won't be GIANT BEHEMOTH, because that creature is killed underwater by a torpedo. Are you sure it was a dinosaur on the building? Perhaps it was some other giant creature ... the 1950s had plenty of giant insect movies, for example.
  6. Sounds more like THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS. I do remember a scene where a bazooka is fired at the creature, but it has almost no effect. During a firefight, there is a lot of noise, explosions, etc., and the creature disappears. The finale takes place at an amusement park, atop a rollercoaster. Does that help?
  7. Oh, let's not forget Lugosi in SPOOKS RUN WILD, with the East Side Kids. Classic lines like "You ... you ... you scared the health out of me!" And Leo Gorcey asking Huntz Hall "how can you read in the dark?" and Hall answering "I went to night school."
  8. TCM ran all of the Bowery Boys a few summers ago .. maybe they will resurrect them again.
  9. I can't believe I sold all my FM magazines at a tag sale when I was in college. They would probably be worth something now. I enjoyed RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE, mainly because of the WWII setting. It was also interesting to see Miles Mander doing double takes and delivering the film's final line.
  10. Oh yes, BELA LUGOSI MEETS A BROOKLYN GORILLA, with that famous comedy team of Duke Mitchell and Sammy Petrillo, the cut-rate version of Martin and Lewis.
  11. WESTWORLD, with Richard Benjamin, James Brolin, and Yul Brynner.
  12. I liked THE VAMPIRE, saw it a few years ago so it was still fresh in my mind, At times I thought I was watching a reunion of Superman TV characters, with Dabbs Greer as the psychologist (since when can a psychologist give sedatives??), Herb Vigran as the cop, and the bartender (whose name escapes me). I also liked Gerald Fried's pulsating music. I had not seen RETURN OF DRACULA in probably 30 years or so, yet remembered most of it, including the dialogue. I think it is because, as a kid, I read the magazine "Famous Monsters of Filmland," and there was a feature article on this film. I agree that Lederer gives a fine performance, and when he squints, he did remind me of Peter Lorre. Also, this was another pulsating score by Fried. Now what did you think of RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE? 13. I thought that was Alan Sherman! I only got through about ten minutes of this before I gave up ... the turning point was when Arthur Lucan (in drag) starting doing a song ... that's when I quit!
  14. Thanks, that makes sense ... because I think I heard it in BECKET as well.
  15. Can anyone identify the main title and end theme for RETURN OF DRACULA? It was also used throughout the film. I've heard this theme in many films, including THE SHINING. I assume it is from some 19th or 20th century work.
  16. Sounds like THE SEARCH, from 1948, starring Montgomery Clift as an American soldier caring for a war orphan. I think it's been shown on TCM. Rich
  17. Sounds like DR. CYCLOPS, with Albert Dekker.
  18. And be sure to check out some of the "educational" films on that site, especially the ones from the late 50s and early 60s .. they are hysterical. Rich
  19. ATTACK OF THE 50-FOOT WOMAN and INVADERS FROM MARS, as well as plenty of other sci-fi/horror movies, can be viewed at this site for free: http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/movies.htm
  20. I watched them both during the day, on tape, and had trouble keeping awake for either one. "The Black Sleep" started off well, but just deteriorated ... although I was amused at the photograph of Tor Johnson in a hairpiece. "Corruption" also started off well, but became tedious ... and the ending was way over the top. I haven't seen "Eyes without a Face," but the pituitary gland idea seemed borrowed from "The Leech Woman."
  21. For a 3-year-old, it's tough to find one he would understand/appreciate. I would normally recommend "Broken Arrow" with James Stewart and Jeff Chandler, since it at least portrays Indians in a sympathetic light.
  22. I believe that movie is "Something Wild" from 1961, which I have seen. It starred Ralph Meeker and Carroll Baker. Rich
