cc, oddly enough that started coming back to me as well .. and before they discovered Pat Harrington was a robot, I said to myself "he's a robot." I also remembered him smiling at the end of the picture. But it just seemed too "far out," even for me ... and I recall thinking along those lines in 1967 as well. Maybe I was just anxious back then to see the next feature.

In North by Northwest, right before Cary Grant is "shot" by Eva Marie Saint, you can see a kid in the cafeteria putting his hands over his ears.

This film started off well, but about halfway through went into the dumper. It is amazing how many scenes I do remember though, from having seen it in 1967. When the hippies showed up, it was real groovy, man .. made me want to drop some acid ... would have made the rest of the movie less painful.

Sounds like one of the versions of Imitiation of Life, probably the Claudette Colbert version from the 1930s.

I think this was a TV movie ... The Longest Hundred Miles ... I remember watching it and enjoying it too.
