Welcome aboard, don.
Could this be it?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0022817/
You may be able to watch it here:

Welcome to the boards, BobNoir.
That clip may be from NIGHT OF THE HUNTER (1955), which is scheduled for the essentials this year.

metz, I have a feeling the number of each clue indicates its overall importance, assuming 21 clues.
-
I am recording it as we speak .. and all the others tonight.
Now a note about MARNIE, which was on earlier. Apparently, Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren have sex (geez, at least they are married) on the ocean liner, because the camera cuts to the porthole. Anyone notice that?

Yes, my evil self has been coming out the last few days, as I'm sure you've noticed.
-
webestang, IT HAPPENS EVERY SPRING is also my favorite Milland movie. Watched it all the time as a kid.

It's The Divorcee .... heh heh

DON'T WORRY, WE'LL THINK OF A TITLE
THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES

Here are my picks, CM, but I am changing your rules slightly:
1. Greed (to demonstrate that films did not always have sound, but could still be powerful)
2. King Kong (to showcase special effects and to warn what happens when we try to "change" something we should not change)
3. Bambi (to show we did not need actors to make important films)
4. On the Beach (to show that we came to the brink, and survived)
5. King of Kings (sound version - to show that a simple message of peace and love can survive for all time)
-
On to the next question -
OK, I will start with the obvious and work from there:
WYATT EARP
-
Actually, I was going for WAR meaning World War I ... since clue #3 is the word "one," found in the Declaration of Independence. Clue #4 (you said #3) I assume clinched it for you. Nice job of detective work.
It is your turn to make up clues now

I can't choose just five, but if I had to, I would include Spencer Tracy in the five. I don't believe anyone has mentioned him yet, which I find very surprising.

I should never have shared smilie tips.

Welcome to the boards, Brian. I think there is a levitation scene in THE FURY, starring Kirk Douglas. Haven't seen it in a long time, but pretty sure Andrew Stevens uses his "powers" to levitate someone ... with nasty results.
-
Welcome gardenmartha. Hopefully, you will enjoy tonight's lineup on TCM ... I am planning on recording every movie beginning at 8 eastern, until they end around 5:30 in the morning ... haven't seen any of these, and, good or bad, I am anxious to see them.
-
I will take a shot at CITIZEN KANE.

-
Speaking of tall, I saw Vincent Price in a one-man play doing Oscar Wilde .. I was two rows from the stage ... man, was HE tall ... and a great performer.
-
Yup, so now we have all the names.
-
Yes, and Elisha Cook Jr. in center. I also know the actor at right, and thus the film. I will let someone else guess

Is this something tricky like DAY THE WORLD ENDED, where at the end, the credits say "The Beginning"?
