#4 looks like Tor Johnson (with hair), who dressed as Santa in The Lemon Drop Kid.

I was waiting for this, even though I bookmarked it last year!
Merry Christmas, Barb.

Darn, I wish I could understand what you people are talking about.

Just came across this. I don't get to Joe's thread as often as I should, but he entertains every one of us with his photos. Get back soon, Joe. You are a class act and we miss you.

It is not generally known, but The Man Who Knew Too Much was originally supposed to be about a bearded jolly old soul who kept dossiers on who was naughty and who was nice.

Despite?

LOL. Milstein was basically saying you get what you expect, and the film doesn't try to be more than it is. I have to correct a typo - Milstein wrote the film "reeks of ..." not "reels of ..." The letters on my keyboard are fading and so am I.

I’m disappointed about the removal of Roller Boogie
however I haven’t seen The Unholy Rollers, maybe it’ll be just as amazing ?
I haven't seen this one, but it's about Roller Derby. Fredric Milstein of the L.A. Times gave it a positive review, despite writing that the film "reels of sleaziness, sluttishness, squalor, stupidity, violence both pseudo and real" and mentions a "nude-except-for-skates after-practice encounter at mid-oval." Sounds like a winner to me.

Wasn't Bob Costas in "The Naked Gun," too?
Not that I recall. Of course, one-time commentator O. J. Simpson was.

He also had to re-create great sports moments on "Sports Challenge" and "The Way It Was" with over-the-top play calls!
Yeah, that was hilariously phony!

I remember one episode from "Sports Challenge" when the teams had to identify the mystery guest at the end. Enberg started giving clues, and said the guy's nickname was "Smokey." So Billy Martin yelled out "Bear Bryant!"

He also had a bit (with other famous announcers) in The Naked Gun.
I used to watch "Sports Challenge" all the time. I think a lot of the audience reaction and applause was canned, and the film clips they showed usually had little to do with the questions being asked. But that was my introduction to Dick Enberg.

I've been away from the boards for a while. I'm surprised that no one has gotten these. I think #1 is Louise Allbritton and #2 is Martha O'Driscoll. Louise Allbritton was in lots of forties movies including "Son Of Dracula" with Lon Chaney Jr. She was married to CBS news correspondent Charles Collingwood. Martha O'Driscoll was also in a Dracula movie, "House of Dracula" with Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolfman and John Carradine as the Count. I remember seeing her in "Here Come The Co-eds with Abbott and Costello. That's the one where Lou wears a wig and plays basketball for an all girls college. Martha is one of the co-eds.
Correct on both counts, Miles. I tried to find photos of these ladies that were a bit atypical. Guess everybody is out holiday shopping or arguing down in the off-topic forum. Your thread.

Margaret Lindsay was in a lot of films ...
She had a leading role in the Vincent Price \ George Sanders gothic film House of Seven Gables - 1940.
Her performance was the best part of that film. She more than held her own while two of my favorite hams, Price and Sanders, overacted.

Yesterday on METV (which my cable company, just started to broadcast), I was watching Wagon Train with Robert Horton and Ward Bond. The ending was interesting. The group (Bond as head master and his men) were being held hostage. Well Bond ends up getting one rifle and two knives. The bad guys (who outnumber Bond and his men by about two-to-one), are very well armed with rifles and 6-shooters.
Well Bond and his men surprise the bad guys with the two men with the knives each sticking a bad guy right in the heart while Bond starts shooting the other bad guys in the back. No warning, no 'hey drop your guns' crap, but just taking out the bad guys. All of the bad guys appear to be dead after this scene.
I really like how realistic this ending is. No silly scene where the guys with the knives feel they need to say 'drop your guns' or just wounding them, but instead killing them instantly without warning.
Those were the good old days.

Great supporting actor. I really enjoyed him as the waiter at a beer garden in the Laurel & Hardy flick Our Relations.

Rich, did you really expect anyone to get #3 from the original photo? Her name is Luce Potter, sometimes billed as Luz Potter. She was a midget actress from Mexico. She played the character Intelligence in "Invaders From Mars". She and Lock Martin were also both in "The Incredible Shrinking Man". Here is a short (no pun intended) clip of her in "The Great Gildersleeve".
No, I knew it would be tough. I was hoping someone would get the film connection first and then figure it from there. Your thread, Miles.

I've seen pictures of Wyatt Earp in a museum in Kansas - - Kurt Russell certainly fits the bill.
And he was certainly more convincing as Earp than Lancaster was.

This should help, if someone wants to look up the credits:

Is it Helena Carter from "Invaders From Mars"? Lock Martin played an alien in that one. I don't know who #3 is. Perhaps a clue will help.
Correct on Carter. And you just gave yourself a clue.

This really is an underrated film. Some of the best (and tenderest) scenes are between Taylor and Young. The finale always gets to me.
