I shudder to think of such classic dubbed films as Beast of Yucca Flats and The Creeping Terror with subtitles.

So you know when that first photo was taken? Otherwise how would anyone know 'the ages are about right'?
The series of photos was taken in 1942, as marked on the bottom of the photo I posted. The photos can be found doing a google images search.

The Adam and Eve storyline sucked, it's only redeeming part was when Adam who's been pining away for a mate finally gets this redhead big boobed knockout Eve, and she hates him, if I remember right she was getting turned on by another cast member, it was before Quentin it may have been Maggie's boyfriend. Adam should have went MGTOW, lol.
Marie Wallace was Adam's mate, and I think she was lusting after Roger Davis's character, whom she remembered from a past life, or something like that.

Doc Brown, in disbelief shouts, "The ACTOR? Then who's VICE president? JERRY LEWIS?"
And don't forget Doc Brown wondering if Jane Wyman was First Lady, and Jack Benny was Secretary of the Treasury. I've always found the Wyman reference interesting, since the year is supposed to be 1955 - and Reagan had already divorced Wyman and was married to Nancy Davis.

If you ever get the DVD set for the soap at the end of each disc are interviews with various actors and personnel. They did the show daily live, they had to learn their lines that same day they received them. Not much time for rehearsals, maybe sitting around a table line reading at best. They were pretty much doing it live, they had to just bull through flubs and wrong lines. Some times they had to adlib. They did have cue cards that's why occasionally they are looking off at something other than who they are talking too. They had a fire once also, you'd think with all the candles they would have had more.
Yes, I've seen many of the blooper reels, and I remember seeing many of the blunders "live." I also remember seeing an interview with Frid once where he talked about how they just kept going no matter what happened.
The series had some interesting ideas, but once they started with plots involving a werewolf, creating Adam, and traveling through time like it was nothing, the novelty wore off.

I watched a little bit of Night Of Dark Shadows, didn't finish it. It was great to see Lara Parker, who plays the evil and gorgeous witch Angelique.
Parker is a real stunner, especially those eyes. I wouldn't sell my soul for her, but I would consider renting it out. The film itself is ok, the ending not too much of a surprise. There seemed to be some quick edits in this film; the viewer is left trying to figure out what just happened while another scene suddenly starts. Still, it was a decent little chiller, without much connection to the original series. House of Dark Shadows was certainly more faithful to the series, although it had more gore. I have to give kudos to Frid for his acting in the film. In the series, he was actually pretty bad (well, most of the performers were), but I put up with it because I enjoyed the shows. Here, he actually looks invigorated ... must have been all that fresh blood.

I don't recognize the boy, but the woman looks very much like Dolores Costello Barrymore.
That is correct. The boy is John Drew Barrymore. This was a promotional photo. There are several of them. Here is another one:

I am trying to recall the name of a movie I saw as a child (1960s), on television, in B&W, about a baseball player who sells his soul to the devil to become the best baseball player ever. It was not Damn Yankees. It wasn't a musical and it wasn't in color. I've googled it but all that comes up is Damn Yankees and I know for certain it was not a musical. If I recall correctly it was made in the '40s. Anyone remember the film? Thanks.
Maybe it's Angels in the Outfield (1951), although the devil has nothing to do with it, and the plot revolves around a manager whose team gets help from an angel if the manager can just learn to control his temper.

Sat., Oct. 28th; two Tod Browning favorites of mine and a second recommendation. All times E.S.T.:
6:15 a.m. "Mark of the Vampire" (1935)--Fast moving, atmospheric tale with Lionel Barrymore, Lionel Atwill, etc. hunting Bela Lugosi and co. in Europe. Check out the original trailer with Bela Lugosi on TCM's online schedule.
Here are three photos of Carrol Borland. At left is a college photo, center is for her screen test for Vampires of Prague (which was later changed to Mark of the Vampire) and right is how she appeared in the film.

Hello, as the topic title states. I just want to know if anyone knows the score of the recently aired print of Battleship Potemkin on TCM during their 100th anniversary Red October highlight?
I believe the version shown on TCM was from the 50th anniversary release of the film, and featured symphonic works of Dmitri Shostakovich.

Great double bill of definitive Anthony Perkins …
8 p.m. Psycho (1960)
10:15 p.m. Pretty Poison (1968)
I'll add Fear Strikes Out (1957) at 2 a.m. Saturday morning. This was the first film I ever saw with Perkins. He is very effective as baseball player Jim Piersall (although he is lousy when he is actually playing ball). Karl Malden is hissable as the father who keeps driving Perkins to be better. Wooden Adam Williams is perfectly cast as Perkins' shrink. Great score by Elmer Bernstein.

The Phantom of Crestwood (1932) - Run-of-the-mill murder mystery that was made as a tie-in to a radio serial. Ricardo Cortez stars as a dubious detective trying to figure out who keeps killing people by sticking large darts into the back of their heads. The residents have all assembled at rich guy H.B. Warner's estate, and serial gold-digger Karen Morley is trying to blackmail a lot of them. But she's not the only one giving people a reason to want them dead... Also featuring Anita Louise, Skeets Gallagher, Gavin Gordon, Pauline Frederick, Mary Duncan, Sam Hardy, and George E. Stone.
There's not much to make this one stand out, besides the bizarre murder weapon, and Cortez's ill-defined backstory and group of (gangster?) buddies. I thought Morley was good. (6/10)
Source: TCM.
I don't think Cortez was supposed to be a detective in this one, although he ends up solving the crime and looking like a hero. Agree about Morley - not only was she good in this, she was incredibly sexy.

Yeah, wouldn't ya think that would have been "Priority One" and the primary reason for this whole "upgrade" to begin with?
(...I thought it would have been anyway)
Apparently the spammers were the only ones who immediately knew how to use the new board format. Inside job.

A star indicates a thread you have previously posted in. A dot is a thread that you have not posted in.
Thank you (the old-fashioned way).

1. What is the difference between a dot and a star?
2. Anybody know how to clear notifications? We used to be able to delete any/all of them, but now it seems they just pile up.

Since we now have a "thanks" emoticon, it's only fair that we have a "you're welcome" emoticon. For those of you who text, you can have a "your welcome" emoticon.

I've discovered that if you add "/messenger" to the URL address "forums.tcm.com" in the address bar, it will take you to your PM interface screen.
Yes, I discovered that early this morning. I just wanted to make sure before sharing it that the poster's PM screen would open, and not mine! Thanks for checking that.

Send me an e-mail to my aol account (from your personal account, not from here). I have an idea how to access the PMs.

Hopefully the PM situation will straighten out. The site is a mess and a pain. I hope those in charge are reading our complaints. These updates we go thru every year are ridiculous.
You have my personal e-mail address. Send me a message from your personal e-mail account (not from here) to my personal aol account. I want to try an experiment.

So if I hadn't told you here that I sent you a PM you wouldn't have known it? I don't know what an aol account is but I shouldn't have to know. I should see a notification here (which I am NOT seeing, by the way, though I am looking for that message you sent). Thanks for sending the message, Rich, but, so far, no can find.
aol is my "America OnLine" account which I use for personal e-mail. I had sent up notifications a long time ago to have PMs forwarded there as well so I wouldn't have to keep logging into TCM just to read them.
I just found a "back door" approach to getting into the private messenger, but I can't share it yet because it might send everyone into my PM list instead of their own!
