  1. Saturday, July 22nd/23rd--TCM Underground.  All times E.S.T.

2:45 a.m. "Terminal Island" (1973)--CA outlaws capital punishment.  Prisoners are now gotten rid of by dumping them on an island and letting them fight to survive.  With Tom Selleck in an early role.

    And Phyllis Davis naked.

    Watch for the "bee" scene.

Now if TCM would just show her in Sweet Sugar ...  that would make for a great double-feature.

    Or is it quadruple-feature?

  2. The Worst Rears of Our Wives

Three returning veterans try to adjust to the fact that each of their wives have undergone butt implants. “You read about glutes like that,” mumbles Dana Andrews, “but you don’t often see ‘em, luckily.” Tor Johnson stars as plastic surgeon Dr. Hugh Jarse.

  3. Eight Men (well, one is a woman) Out

In a convoluted plot, members of a presidential campaign agree to meet with agents from another country, believing they are going to receive bribes in return for throwing the election. Complications ensue when some of the campaigners back out of the deal and try their best to win the election, but end up losing anyway, even though one of them hits .375 in the World Series. The campaigners are acquitted during a trial, but a liberal judge in Hawaii bans all of them from Washington D.C. for life. Look for Tor Johnson as Comiskey Park.

  4. Lost And Found Horizon

After their plane crashes in the middle of nowhere, several people are led to a lost film studio, where they spend most of their time arguing about director’s cuts, restored footage, and Donald Trump. But what really **** them off is when they discover that Photobucket has deleted all stills for every film ever made.Tor Johnson has a cameo as the Himalayas.

  5. All correct except number 2.  It's not Eddie Quillan, although Eddie Quillan did appear with Lee Bowman in "Kid Glove Killer" on Friday on TCM.  Number 2 sometimes had a mustache.

He appeared with Lee Bowman in a service comedy.

Alan Curtis (starred with Lee Bowman in Buck Privates. That photo appears to be from another A & C flick, The Naughty Nineties.

  6. See if this is the film; check at the 40 minute mark for the scene you asked about. My knowledge of Italian is limited (even though I'm Italian), but I think this is what you are looking for. I actually saw this film in a theater when it first came out.

  7. Why weren't there any school buses? School buses would've been in the school parking lot. Couldn't the teachers have used their cars?  Surely, all of them came to school in a car.

Good question. From what I read, the teachers went after the kids in their cars once the alarm was found to be false, but I have no idea why the teachers couldn't have driven some of the kids home. I know there would be liability issues, but hell ... if the world is gonna explode, there won't be any lawsuits anyway.

In the film, I think William Daniels tells someone to get "the school bus" ready, so I assume there was only one. Must have been a cheap school district.

The movie is based on a true incident that occurred at Miraleste Elementary School in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the school would usually have a brief test of the signal system every morning around 9:30. The “yellow alarm” went off on October 30, 1962, at 8:40 a.m. As in the film, the telephone company reported no malfunction, so the principal indeed sent the kids home on foot. Some lived over two miles away. Ten minutes later, the phone company said it was a false alarm. School officials headed off to bring the kids back.

  9. I've heard a number of people talk of how Evelyn Keyes was a sexier and more exciting woman in person than ever came across on the screen. One film in which Keyes did make a big impression upon me, though, was 99 River Street.

I think her hairstyle in most of her films was to blame. On Carson, it was short and straight, and her face looked radiant.

  10. Last night on a repeat of The Tonight Show, I saw Evelyn Keyes. The show was from 1977, which would have made her about 61. She looked fantastic, better than she did in her younger years. She was wearing her hair short and she was very attractive. She talked briefly about her book, Scarlett O'Hara's Younger Sister.

She also took a jab at C. B. DeMille. She had become interested in Anthony Quinn, and DeMille had said to her "stay away from that half-breed." Keyes then wrly noted that Quinn ended up marrying DeMille's daughter, "so I guess their kids were quarter-breeds."

  11. I really liked the movie.  The final image was a whiteout followed and then it went to a black screen saying The End.  My senses was that a bomb did drop and the whiteout was the explosion.  A skywriter going in a straight line making a long 'i'?

I don't think that was a skywriter. It was just a jet and the kid panicked thinking it was going to drop a bomb.
