Does anyone know why this movie just ... vanished? I want to see it, I love it, I need it. By now, I've also developed an obsessive curiosity regarding the reasons WHY this film has been left unaired, unavailable to buy except for exhorbitantly priced old VHS tapes on Ebay, and what's up with that? Something to do with the rights to broadcast it ... or what can it possibly be??? I realize people were miffed because the movie isn't "true to Steinbeck," is "insulting to the downtrodden," and other very soggy excuses for dismissing what is actually a really great film. Perhaps they ought to just change the name and re-release it, foregoing all references to Steinbeck, except of course credit for "based on."
Anyone know anything a'tall about this disappearing act?
