  1. I'm talking about the online schedule which showed Logon's Run playing after WestWorld, which would have been a natural choice. I'll not give much credence to TCM's schedule anymore and just look at Yahoo TV schedule because it was right on the money and correct.

    I still say that TCM plays to much Betty Davis, Hepburn, and Joan Crawford 1940's movies, and for that reason, I will not be watching TCM as much as I use too. I do appreciate them for not having their none moving Logo or bug on the screen constantly and not shrinking the end credits of their movies for Promos like Starz does (which is the reason I canceled my subscription to them). I will just stay with ShowTime Unlimited and get what I want, and support movie channels that respect movies. Flix, The Movie Channel play movies pure unlike Starz and I have joined others in being against Starz that post on other message boards.

    When TCM plays Cult favorites I will watch but it is time for them to rethink their strategy on over doing the 40's stuff. I have nothing against these movies, it is just that they play all the time.

  7. This is the first time that I am upset with TCM. The programming schedule was in error on the time that this movie would play and it was buried into the late morning hours. Instead of recording Logan's Run, I got 2001, a movie TCM plays often. And The World, The Flesh and The Devil, a movie TCM has never shown before was buried 4:15AM so that no one could watch it.I missed that one too. Why does TCM play these great movies once in a blue moon and give them no fanfare during prime time? The Fearless Vampire Slayer is done the same way in august, yet they give plenty of play for all of the 40's stuff, repeating them on a regular basis.

  8. I would like to see more LetterBox - Wide Screen movies from 1960 to 1999 and less Betty Davis - Joan Crawford movies. I'm sick of those two gals for sure. Play them in the mornings so that people who can't get enough of them can record them and watch them over and over at their hearts content. Play the better quality, image wise, newer movies at prime time.

  9. I have not seen This Island Earth, but if TCM will start playing more modern movies (1970-1995)and less of Joan Crawford and Betty Davis during Prime Time, maybe I'll get the chance. It is time for the change, how many times can they repeat these movies and not loose viewers? Those who like'em have had enough time to record them so why keep playing them over and over. Maybe that is the Future Shock, TCM can go head to head with the big players by showing Wide Screen versions of movies that everyone else is showing in Pan and Scan.

  10.

    Out of all the Si-fi movies that are showing this month, two are of notable mention: 1) WestWorld and 2) Logan's Run. Both of these classic movies are seldom seen on TV ( and if they are it is in Pane and Scan). All of the other movies showing are staples on TCM, but a great chance to record them in DVD. This whole genre deserves much more and I hope that it gets it, classic Science Fiction of the 1930's - 1970's gets so little play on all available outlets.

  11. therealfuster, Being There plays on HBO Signature. It will be playing this week. Maybe you can sign up to HBO for one month only just to record it- as for Osmond movies, I don't think it's in the TCM Library thank goodness.

  12. Let me help you out on taping this movie. The Intermission begins after 1 hour and 38 minutes, therefore you can record at the best speed and change your tape or DVD during this Intermission. The movie runs 3 hours and 15 minutes.

  13. I have been recording the One Reel Wonders and From the Fault for about the past three years. Sometimes they are better than the movies that are playing before they come on. Like was said before if there is a 15 to 11 minute gap after a movie there well be one.

  14. I enjoy the non-Hollywood foreign films, watching too much Hollywood turns your head into spaghetti sometimes. Even old classic Hollywood becomes a cliche sometimes if you watch too much.The Ingid Bergman films will be a treat and I am looking forward to them (along with the Garbo German version of Anna Christie).So many stars started out somewhere else before they came to Hollywood and it is nice to see them act before they were corrupted by Hollywood.

  15. Watch for the German version of Anna Christie on June 17th at 2:00 AM on Imports TCM. Also at the end of May an all day showing of her movies. Forget the DVDs, make your own, what a treat!

  16. This will depend on when you were a child of course. I was a child during the 60's and the first movie I remember was a Santa Clause movie. There was a good santa dressed in red and a bad santa in blue or green. The bad santa tried to stop the good one from delivering presents to the good boys and girls. I don't remember the title but that is the first movie I remember.

  17. Your list----

    Anthony Hopkins; Paul Newmann; Peter O'Toole;

    Robin Williams; Duston Hoffman; Robert Redford;

    Charlton Heston; Clint Eastwood; Kirk Douglas;

    Jack Nicholsen; Ben Kingsley; Jack Lemon;

    Gene Hackman; Robert DiNero; Al Pacino----

    They are all great (if there is such a thing) male actors of the past. It is clear that Sean Penn and Nicole Kidmen have pulled away from the pack of current actors and actresses. Mryle Streep and Jodie Foster continue to show that they are above the fray.

  18. Having a perfect signal from TCM is very important to me also. I got so tired of poor cable signals that I switched to DirecTV, my signal strength is always 89 - 94 for TCM, giving me both a great picture and sound. I use the Sony RDR-GX300 DVD Recorder with Progressive Cine-Scan and component connections. My recorded DVDs are better than the original broadcast because the Progressive mode sees any signal distortion as detail and fixes it. DVDs are cheaper than VHS tape too so its a win-win situation. Having a digital signal is so much better than the analog from cable.

  19. Thank you TCM for the Margaret Rutherford movies this week, she was the best Miss Marple of all time. Show more of the MGM British movies if you are able, they are refreshing to watch, it brings a little TCM UK into the mix, making for a well sorted variety. The movies you showcased last month by Earling Studio was wonderful, British humor is so entertaining and enjoyable. Thanks again TCM!

  20. We can all be subjective and say someone is great, they are not great but the proof in the pudding. If an actor (actress)continues to work throughout their career then they are doing something right, if they only work for about five years and disappear then they just didn't have what it takes. So greatness is objectively determined by longevity and not by what may be personal views.

  21. I don't want the movies I see cut and edited, case in point, The Front Page (1974)with Walter Mathau and Jack Lemmon. Mathau uses plenty of profanity and it's all part of his character. If it is cut out you loose his character and the movie is not worth seeing. If you sanitize war, life, and history then the lessons are lost and we just repeat the same errors, never growing or learning from our mistakes. This is all that i'm going to post on this topic, so no need to respond, I'm just giving my two cents. Keep up the good work TCM, you are the best channel on including HBO and Showtime!
