  1. Casablanca, undoubtedly. Is the rumor really true that it is going to be remade and George Cloony is going to play Bogie's role or is it just a rumor? I never thought of Clooney as a twit but if he's thinking of doing this........................
  2. Or - try this one: http://imdb.com/gallery/mptv/1206/0319_0015.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Power,%20Tyrone%20(I)&seq=8
  3. NOW, you're talking, Susan! Yummy! LOL That one of Brando is a doozy! Scarlett
  4. He sure is, or......we're awfully slow. ;-) Scarlett
  5. Ooooooo for 'sexy'. In a movie which I cannot remember the name of, with Kevin Costner and ??? there is a very sexy scene. I'm sure someone can fill in the details......that's the sexiest one I've ever seen.
  6. IF it is Judy Holliday, I gotta be honest. Feaito actually posted that answer first. I was editing my answer to show both Ginger and Judy Holliday and when I reposted, he had posted while I was editing. So, even though I hadn't read his answer, he actually got here first. :-) Scarlett
  7. Definitely a guess. Ginger Rogers? Or if you don't like that one, how about Judy Holliday? Scarlett
  8. Love Me or Leave Me is the Cagney/Day movie. One of the only 2 times I've ever been able to tolerate Doris Day, the other being The Man Who Knew Too Much with James Stewart. And if I had my way, I wouldn't have had to tolerate her then, either. I'm surprised at Hitchcock ever giving her a role. I agree with you, though, I dislike the whole package, not just the voice. Like you say, it's everyone's personal taste. I don't like Picasso, either, come to think of it.
  9. Not really a cab "scene", but the first thing to jump to my mind was a cab driver that I just love. Garry Owen in Arsenic and Old Lace. "I'm not a cab driver, I'm a coffee pot". Scarlett
  10. Coffeedan, I have thousands as well, and I keep my DVD collection in DVD storage books. I have many of them but buy the ones that hold 284-296 each. For me, these books take up way less space than keeping them individually packaged. I also use a label program and make my own labels for them. I often find the actual movie poster for each one and then size it to my label and print it off. That way it looks similar to a purchased DVD. I really enjoy doing this. For the ones I do purchase, I measure the front photo in the DVD package to the width of my DVD 'compartment' the DVD will be going into, and cut it and slide it in front of the actual DVD. Then, I have a computer database that I enter all the information into, so I know exactly what I have and where it is. I have a case for 'newer' ones, cases for ones I file by genre (western, war, horror), many cases of singles, filed by whatever star I deem worthy. ^^ I also, sometimes, record my DVDs 2 on a disk. When I record one on a disk, I record them in SP mode, but some of the classics are so short that you can record them on LP, which is only one step down from SP, so if it's not 'an essential' I will record 2 with the same actor on 1 DVD, then I number that DVD and file it in my "Doubles" case. This saves TONS of room, since I can fit almost 600 movies into one case! Since this IS my one and only hobby and I love it so much, I must say that my 'homemade' collection looks as nice as my 'bought' collection. This works well for me, cuz I don't particularly care for the plastic cases they come in. The books are water and heat proof. When I had a tape collection, they were in mega bookcases, downstairs due to lack of room - and when we had our basement flood, I lost so many. These DVD cases stay on shelves I've had built in my closet, and if there is ever a 'disaster' I can grab them and run! :-)
  11. I didn't like Mitchum for the longest time, because I thought he was 'full of himself' - but a couple of years ago, I wised up. Now I really like him. He is, of course, one of the film noir geniuses (my favorite genre). However, quite funny considering my former opinion of him, I do like him best as a scum-bucket. My 2 favorites are Cape Fear and Night Must Fall.
  12. That's his name, stony, right. Apparently, it was up for some awards - I totally agree with you, meh indeed. My mom dislikes Henry Fonda's voice and Kate Hepburn's. Guess she won't be watching On Golden Pond anytime soon. Although I like Kate, I do understand it if someone doesn't, she wouldn't suit everyone's taste. Fonda, however, is someone I could never imagine anyone not liking. I was amazed when I found out she doesn't care for him. She says she would never not watch a movie because he was in it but sure wouldn't watch one because he was in it, either. Different strokes.......... Of course, Cagney is another actor that I could never imagine someone not liking and yet there was someone I was conversing with on another list, can't remember who, and she/he didn't like him at all. I guess my ****-u-me-ing is often wrong.
  13. My favorite kiss is when Clark Gable kisses Vivien Leigh for the first time in GWTW. Too bad Scarlett didn't enjoy it as much as I did. Nope, link didn't work, I had to go to MSN's home page. I don't know if I'm any better at it than you are, but I'll try to copy it. Good article. BTW, why am I gettin 'nobr' at the beginning and end of my post? What does it mean? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11257793/
  14. I have it, too, and love it! A male friend of my daughter's bought it for himself, a while back, and I was so pleased. This guy (through my daughter) is just getting into classic movies (he's 20) and loves William Powell (and Myrna, too). I am soooo happy I turned my daughter on to classics at an early age. She, in turn, spreads the message. Her boyfriend bought It's a Wonderful Life before Christmas and returned it shortly after, noticing it was colorized. When things like that happen, it warms my heart.
  15. Thanks for posting that information, bollywood. That makes total sense. I'll bet some of those films are licensed to play in Canada by Family Channel (as well as others maybe). FC is where I used to watch classics before I got my dish years ago. I wonder how the CRTC managed to keep its nose out of this one since they like to dictate so well. I'm just glad they did!
  16. Some of these films are good news indeed. Shane, Gunfight at OK Corral, and I've always wanted to see Wings. However, I'm waiting with bated breath to see Barbarella *sarcasm intended*, and more Elvis movies..........maybe the Osmonds really will be next. I will reserve judgment, though, because I can't see TCM letting us down on a continual basis.
  17. I'd like to also add Peter Lorre. Since we can't seem to talk the programmer into a month, maybe he/she will at least give us a day?!
  18. I also have satellite - in Canada, none the less - and have no problem whatsoever, so I'd guess, as well, that it's your cable.
  19. It would be easier to ask what wasn't Stewart great in. My favorite Stewart role is the one I'm watching at the time the question is asked. Although I do have a soft spot for Harvey. Jimmy was fantastic in everything he touched. How wonderful to visit the James Stewart musuem. The next time I'm in Helena, Montana (which I am quite close to), I'm going to see if they have anything about Gary Cooper and Myrna Loy, two of my favorites who were both born in Helena. Not bad for a city that size. It may be the capital of Montana, but it still isn't very big. I sure hope they do have something. If they don't, I'm just the person to tell them they should have. ^^
  20. RC, I wonder if they have the schedule from back then, it wouldn't be hard for them to update it a bit and give us that month of movie heaven over again. LOL at Fred's comments. Maybe if that really happened to you, you would wind up with a beautiful dame. Try it and let us know. ;-) That sounds like a good movie.....it reminds me somewhat of James Garner's Mr. Buddwing which was a really good movie but had a weak ending. Moviegeek, yeah, wouldn't we all love a job at TCM. Work? What work? Scarlett
  21. I simply had to pull up this thread to say that I'm currently watching (not for long) The Seven Per-Cent Solution. Whoever the actor is playing Holmes (I can't even bother to look up who he is) has the MOST annoying voice I have ever heard. In fact, he is one of the most annoying actors I've ever watched. As soon as I post this, I'm going to watch anything else!
  22. Moviegeek, I love your nightly ideas and even your name for the noir week. If I had any say, you'd be hired! :-)
